Based on your description of your love of bread, tea loaves, afternoon tea in quaint shops, cake, scones... I need to visit you to verify this situation. I regret to inform you, however, that I will most likely not be part of your success. I will voluntarily try all of the above items for you and give you a full written…

I think as some of us return to the work environment, it's helpful to begin a new routine. I CANNOT have the snacks that are readily available there. They're not part of my plan. Can you log your food ahead of time? Bring what you're going to eat? Once I packed food and decided to eat it when I wanted (as opposed to "It's…

So in my state (OR), teachers were moved to the front of the line when vaccines became available. Most of us were fully vaxxed by the end of Feb. If the efficacy is wearing off, and we're in schools with an unvaxxed population (kids), then what?

First swim since March 12, 2019! We are staying at a resort that has an open pool, so I reserved a lane this morning. It's a short pool, and you can only reserve 30 min at a time on weekends, but I had no idea how much stamina I would have. I was out of synch at the beginning, but found my rhythm. I've been doing other…

Do you have access to water fitness classes? Before Covid, that was my best pelvic floor workout. Those moves cannot be done without intense core work, and once you begin to strengthen it, it's not too hard to really focus on the pelvic floor when working out. Even swimming laps engages your core. I feel you. I have had…

I'm sorry, N Cascades. We're getting hammered in recent years from the heat and fires. I get the frustration. I am just grateful that I'm only affected by air quality, and not the threat of losing my home. You have great goals. I love that you write them down. Keep at the ones you can accomplish.

I ate the bite sized Snickers bars :( They weren't worth it. Lesson learned. Today I forgave myself for giving in when I pretty much already knew that they weren't going to serve me well, but ate them anyway. And I'm tossing the rest of the bag. My win was a good long walk outside, and my body weight routine that makes me…

I just picked beans yesterday. I have never grown them. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I find them to be a pain to pick? But wow. They are delicious! I had no idea that they would be ready so soon. I was watering and when I pushed the plants aside, beans revealed themselves! I'm pulling carrots, and the lettuce is pretty…

I read the comments on the All Trails page. (I always read the comments...) It sounds fantastic. For me, the descent is what gets me. I'm in good enough shape to do it, but a steep decline can be tricky to navigate with an arthritic knee. This sounds doable, especially for someone of your fitness level. One requirement:…

OP, you have been through a lot. I'm sorry you're feeling so discouraged. It sounds like there are folks here with similar experience who have some good advice. I have to agree about leaving that gym, at least for now. In order to be successful, it's going to take consistency. Going someplace where you don't feel accepted,…

We made some homemade rocky road for Father's Day. Adding in all of the fillers meant taking some chocolate ice cream out to make room. For me, plain homemade chocolate ice cream is simply kryptonite. My daughter is dairy free and made some sorbet with black currants and raspberries that was awesome too. And whoever…

@SuzanneC1l9zz that's what my potted veggies look like! I am keeping squirrels and crows (?) out. I have these things so wrapped up, if they actually produce fruit, I'll be on an obstacle course of my own making to get to it!
-
Awesome job prepping veggies! You're off to a great start! I agree about weekends. They seem to get easier, but it has taken me a while not to go off the rails. Keep it up, OP!

Hugs, OP. I hear ya! Most of the time, I'm grateful for my strong body. But on those days when I wake up and can't fit into something that fit as recently as last week, simply because of hormonal fluctuations or water retention, I want to scream and cry. My poor husband has faced the wrath of this injustice more than once.…

Keep it up!! And think about building a habit rather than counting on motivation. Motivation works at first, but when it wears off or doesn't show up for the day, that's when you can count on habits :) I tell myself, "It's what I do" and then do it. Even when I'm not motivated. You're off to a good start!

Well, I get it that they grow these things in hot places. I just wasn't sure if mine were going to just give it up from shock. It's NEVER hit 115F here. EVER. The beans have some crispy leaves. I pulled lettuce that was starting to bolt. Everything else looks OK. The tomatoes in containers aren't doing as well. It's harder…

OK friends, how do I protect my veggies from extreme heat? I did DEEP watering this morning, but we are not accustomed to 100F+ weather. I understand that the lettuces that have been hanging on might just throw up their leaves and bolt (or die), but what about my tomatoes? Will they just fry? They're barely fruiting yet…

@mtaratoot those golden raspberries look amazing. My neighbor at the community garden has loads and shares them with me. They are spectacular! What a bounty!! If memory serves, you're in Corvallis? Get ready for the heat... ;)

Pantyhose!! I have used my husband's old t-shirts and other things, but I'm SURE I have pantyhose that I'm not going to wear again, lol. Perfect! I need to support mine to the stakes. They're getting tall and bushy.

^ This. Amazing. And they fit my calorie goal!

Oh shoot. I just saw a TicTok about a super supportive bra that would double as a swim top. I have tiny titties, so I watched and then scrolled :( It looked amazing when the gal demonstrated it. I hope you find something. A tri!! Go you!!

No shame. Work on changing your internal dialogue. You are worth all of the accolades that you will get here for doing ANYTHING that is a step above nothing. The fact that you are looking for ways to build activity into your day is great. You deserve absolutely NO SHAME. None. You deserve high 5s, pats on the back, cheers…

Oh dear. You have gotten some really solid advice. And yes, I did read all the way through because your pain is real. Your frustration is palpable. I second the advice to ditch the scale. Make your new goal one that focuses on slowly changing habits. It's not easy to maintain weightloss, mentally. It's work to keep up…

It's frustrating for sure. But in the long game, three weeks isn't much time. There's lots of missing information here. People are going to want to know your stats and other info: how much are you trying to lose, do you use a food scale, how long have you been trying to lose, etc.? Even though I am 53 and know better, I…

Right! I tend to make a glance to the ceiling, waiting for balloons or confetti to drop... ;)

It sounds like your exercise routine was a bit ambitious for starting out. Start where you are. You don't need to do anything that will wipe you out the next day. Many of us here have made that mistake though. You're not the only one. I will agree that getting familiar with how much you are eating (and what you are eating)…
-
Yup. Every day is a new day. That's the gift :) Hang in there. Keep at it. It can be hard when the habits aren't well formed yet, the new lifestyle isn't intuitive, but you'll get there. You will.
-
I'm sorry to hear that. That IS frustrating. Can you swim? Is there a bike or rowing machine? I'd do whatever you can get the "go" for. You'll be able to say, "At least I'm doing what I can." Congratulations on your little girl!! You have time to sort this out, and you'll be much wiser about your approach when you're…

Yep, but you're in good company :) Read through the success stories. They are so inspiring. There's so much good advice on this site. Listen to those folks with thousands (or 10s of thousands) of posts. They have so much wisdom to share. You can do this. Here's to a healthier you!!
