This^^ I also drink Cytomax before my hard runs (where I really push the speed). Eating fruit beforehand is also a good habit to form. :) good luck!!!

You were a long distance runner WAY before you ever finished that marathon :D

I'm working on my...uhh...I lost count of how many half marathons I've done this year. My fastest was 1:51:23. I'm training for the Portland Marathon and I'm trying stay at an 8:12 min/mile pace, which I've never done before. It's going to be TOUGH! It'll be my fourth time doing the Portland Marathon (8th marathon overall)…

I'm sorry you're going through this. I would try a very careful approach. Try to get him to open up to you more about what's going on in his head and try to work a solution. If this doesn't work then, yeah, I'd say try marriage counseling. This is not an easy situation to be in and you do need your own social network. I…

Many running stores (even online ones) have pretty lenient return policies on their shoes. I'd try that route and then go to a running store where you can fitted properly. Good luck! Karrie

Haha, not only have you made up your mind, you decided to sign up for two. I love it!

Will you regret NOT doing it? If so, then you should absolutely do it. Plus, races are FUN! Such great energy with a very supportive group of people.
-
Absolutely! I can't stand wearing a shirt when it's super hot outside!

I use the CytoMax sold by GNC. It has caffeine in it so if you run at night it's not ideal. However, for morning runs or just after work runs it is GREAT. I drank it during a half marathon I ran a couple weekends ago (I've also used it while training/running numerous marathons) and I had awesome results. I didn't feel the…

Same. Night shifts can be soooo monotonous :-/

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I think I'll just deduct the fruit sugars from the total, see what that number is for the day, and go from there.

I didn't read through all the posts already written so this maybe repeated. I had PF a couple of years ago and made a few changes. You shouldn't have to needlessly suffer from PF for years like many people have. I had it and did some research/talked with some people about it and found a way for me to get rid of my PF quite…

It is a privacy thing. It's up to how comfortable you are with people knowing your business. They don't have to know and you not telling them ISN'T lying.

YOU ARE AMAZING! Yes, I wrote that in all caps...because you are. Such an inspiration!

Awesome!! So happy to meet so many runners!!
-
Thank you! I'm working on getting more work done to cover up the rest of the back...gotta save up tho!

It doesn't matter if you don't "race." They are technically called races because there are some people who actually care about times and such, but those people train all year and are way serious about winning. The rest of us do it for fun! No pressure, just running :) The vibes are awesome with all the runners out there,…

Have you ever tried to explain to one of these "nice guys" why they aren't getting girls? I tried once in the nicest way possible and it was like three semi trucks carrying livestock smashing into each other on I-5 going through L.A. during rush hour--not a pretty sight. P.S. I thought by telling him it would help him in…

HA! Awesome :)

When I worked a desk job I was the only chick. The guys were complaining that their backs hurt from sitting all day. Aside from telling them they needed better lumbar support I actually convinced them to do yoga. Twice a day I would set an alarm on my Outlook and whoever was in the office at the time would meet in the…

Great advice ^^ Also, your meds may cause weight gain which may make it harder (however, not impossible). I had a friend on lithium, who also has bipolar disorder, and he started gaining weight. MFP and all the friends you find on here will help you through this...just remember to NEVER give up. ALL of us slip, fall back a…

Amazing job! I LOVE running and all I can say is just wait until you plan your first 5k, 10k, and even half/full marathons! These are just a few of the milestones running gives you! You'll also feel amazing, will begin to see your hamstrings/legs tighten up like whoa!, and when you don't eat right you will see that you…

Awesome effort and it shows. Way to make a difference and not let excuses get in your way!

It's because of his breed. Their back legs get hip dysplasia super easy and I don't want to expedite it so I take it easy with him. We ran five miles and his back legs got a little stiff for a day. He's 7 years old and thank you. I think he's a good lookin guy too :)
