Please, I've had an 8 lb weight change during menstruation. Don't worry about it. If it really came on that quickly, it will probably go off quickly too. Also, forget about weight. Check your measurements. If they haven't gone up significantly, don't worry about it.

Could very well be bloating and inflammation. It doesn't just happen to women. I don't know what your diet is, but if you eat a lot of carbohydrates, your body will hold onto water for metabolizing them, IIRC.
