What do people mean by saying that the treadmill does 50% of the work for you? Are you making the claim that running on a treadmill burns half as many calories given the same speeds, changes in elevation and time? Is this based on research? If so, I'd like to read it.

Unless I'm missing something, I think you are forgetting to add back in his blood, bones, and organs! The gentleman is currently 211 @16% bf. He doesn't need to drop 70 pounds to drop 4% bf. Wait, I did misread part of it. The part that doesn't add up to me is that shouldn't 16% put him at 33-34 lbs of fat?

No, they don't tell you to put it on the arm you aren't writing with. They specifically say left arm only! Here is the answer from their support faq: Can I wear the Armband on my right arm? Or upside down? Algorithms analyze the Armband data to estimate your calorie burn. Those algorithms have been written to give optimal…

Last year my father said to me, "If you do it now, it will be done." He said this to me in the context of why he's so good and keeping his house clean, but I'm finding that it applies to a lot of things in my life. When I find myself thinking 'ooo, I'll do it later...' I try to catch myself and say _out loud_, "Self, if…

I hadn't really thought about it. I'm celebrating Passover and Easter.... my in-laws always give me an Easter Basket. I guess I'll have to bring it to school right away and give most away to my students. I'll save the robin eggs and jelly bellies for me though! Passover isn't as much of an issue. hmm as long as I don't buy…

^^^ This! After multiple attempts, I waited until it was fully charged and unplugged. Then it worked in seconds.

There is one! It's called Totally Tall Women of MFP. =)

I'm 5'11" and currently 159 lbs. In my adult life, I've been around 145 at my lowest (my current "goal" is 152, but really I just want to drop body fat, build muscle and lose inches... so 152 is arbitrary-ish). I think one thing that I note is that when shorter ladies are really thin, they can still look proportional. When…

But she has to live with him, so I don't think this is a good thing!

Local stores are best since you can try it on. I get my bras at Lady Grace, but it seems that they are local to New England. However, you can also order online, and they have larger sized sports bras.

If you can handle dropping your calories (or if you can work out a bit more), you can lose pounds faster - if this is your desire. I'd be okay with .5 pounds/week as long as I was clearly losing inches too. I've been between 159 and 160 for 2 weeks now, but my waist dropped another .25". That's what I care about!

I just emailed by neighbor and confirmed whether he could hear my running on my treadmill and blasting music. He appreciated that I wrote him and we worked it out that way. So you can always try talking/writing to your neighbor to ask.

Maybe it's too close to food for you, but I turn to hot tea for comfort.

I used to work out in the morning when I had a job that allowed me to arrive at 9:30am =) I kept it up by meeting a friend at the gym so that I was accountable to someone else. Now, I have to be up around 5:15am, so there's no way in he11 that I'm getting up at 4:45am!

Sleeping in late! Sleeping in late or losing 1 pound (of fat)?

I'd go see your gynecologist: 6 months without a period is worrisome. Missing one month is okay, but I don't think 6 months is okay to ignore. As far as your stomach, you need to drop body fat (not weight).

I always loved walking, but I was so-so about running. At various points I picked it up again but then I'd drop it soon after. Right now I'm doing c25k and I'm on my 6th week. I have to say that I actually look forward to running now! c25k builds up fairly slowly and pushes me just enough at the same time. When I reached…

I think I may get a little hungrier, but not every month... just some months I notice it. Then again, I'm the one who, when my gynecologist asks the date of my last period, I always look at my doctor and say "uhhhhhmmmm...."

Honestly, for me the biggest reward is feeling good about myself both in how I look and in how I feel. I just buy stuff when I want stuff, so I can't think of anything I'd want to buy as a specific reward for weight loss =)

Awesome job! and I love having more energy now too =)

1. Track what you eat so that you can learn how much you should really be eating. 2. *Find exercises that you enjoy. It can be in the gym or out in nature, but find something you can get yourself to do regularly. 3. Find a way to measure the changes in your body (change in the fit of clothes, tape measure, body fat...) so…

1. Low bathroom sinks. 2. Low shower heads (so uncomfortable to contort your body!) 3. Dresses that are too short (I have a large collection of Ann Taylor dresses, but I have to wear them all with dark tights because they are a bit shorter than I'd like for work). 4. Knowing that if the pants don't come in "talls" then…

I do log everything, but if you didn't feel like logging them to encourage yourself to eat more of them - I think you should go for it! I'm going to assume that if you find that you aren't losing weight with your plan, then you are smart enough to re-assess your logging strategy. :)

I'd only record it if it stayed for a week since it may be temporary (too much sodium the day before, or monthly cycle). I don't even record loss until I have maintained the same loss for several days.
