Folks, she's using a high quality Heart Rate Monitor. If anything, her exercise calories are spot-on. I just broke through my own 4 month long plateau by switching up the types of foods I eat. I'm a habit eater: same breakfast, same 2 or three lunches, same 2 or 3 dinners all the time. I changed it up and it worked. Note:…

This is a great point. I do a lot of running, in addition to triathlons, so I eat lots of carbs according to the distances I run. My husband avoids carb, eating a low carb diet. Does make me insensitive and unsupportive? Nope! It just means I'm doing what's right for my health and body. Does it mean I'm sabotaging him when…

^^^^ This. Yeah, it would be great if everyone everywhere supported everything we did, but that's just not practical. Sometimes it sucks when the people you're closest to seem to be sabotaging you, but trust me, they're not. They're not the ones with the food problem, we are, and they should not be expected to change their…

Why bother running if you're not going to win? Why would anyone in their right mind CHOOSE to run _____ miles?!
-
LOVE that a teeny tiny woman can eat 2000 calories a day, weight lift (in addition to your cardio), and STILL BE TEENY TINY!!! What more proof do you need?! Well done!
-
I'm sorry to say this, but you just brightened my day. 2 1/2 months seems like nothing compared to 6!!!
-
This is interesting! I too am a habit eater - same thing for breakfast, same general things for lunch and dinner. My workouts are always the same too, with the same mix of running, cycling, and lifting, depending on the day. Maybe shaking things up a bit would work.
-
Are you done? Can you please stop now? The harassment is getting a bit much.
-
This was a great read!!! Still pushing through, hoping something changes before I hit the three month mark, lol.
-
<sigh> So what word shall I use to appease your irrational (and improper definition) of the term plateau as it relates to weight loss?
-
Thanks for your opinion, however it doesn't answer my question. And your inference that I'm blaming something else for my lack of weight loss is preposterous; shall I list for you all the things I do on a daily basis to keep healthy, biggest of which is training for a half Ironman?
-
I do it, and I'll be doing it today for 11 miles. It's not easy, but it can be done. I actually bring my tablet and read a book while I'm running (I'm not a super speedy runner, lol).

ALWAYS trust a fart... Does something hurt? No need to see a doctor! Post something in an online forum to see what other runners think! The ONLY way to get better at running is to RUN MORE! Don't do ANYTHING other than running; no weights, cross training, or any other forms of activity. You used to run in high school, and…

^^^I agree with this. Since it's both calves, it could also be a potassium deficiency. I'll also agree with those saying you may be going too fast too far. KEEP HOLY THE REST DAY!!! Your body needs it.

I started running (read, NEVER WAS A RUNNER EVER EVER EVER) on 3/1/13 using Couch to 5k. I completed my first half marathon on 11/9/13. DEFINITELY doable!!! There are tons of good training plans. Hal Higdon, Galloway (if you like the run/walk method), or even any number of apps like Runkeeper have training plans.

Resting an injury is SOOOO much more important. You are NOT back to square one. Because you were healthy, you will heal quicker than when you were unhealthy. But NOT if you push yourself and just keep getting reinjured. Please follow what your doctor says.

I love to dip my french fries in mayo!!! ...not so much since using MFP though, lol! I use small forks and spoons, too. I eat things - usually snack foods - in 4's. 4 cookies, 4 popcorn pieces, 4 m&m's, 4 grapes, etc. I make 'soup' out of my ice cream by stirring it. I HATE spaghetti with tomato sauce. It HAS to have…

I have a Flex and honestly, I got tired of it and don't wear it anymore. It was insightful and helpful to see what I was really burning and how much I was really moving, but it was uncomfortable to wear and I had a terrible time trying to charge it as it never sit properly in the charger.

In 8 hours it burns approximately 100-200 more calories total. The difference would be negligible. http://www.ehow.com/about_5472437_calories-burned-standing-vs-sitting.html

Okay, I'm throwing in my 2 cents from an entirely different point of view. I work in a school in the inner city and many of our families are very poor. We frequently have children coming to school with lunches that are packed with unhealthy items purchased at the dollar store. The grocery stores in the area rarely have the…

That is a SPECTACULAR time!!! My long runs are usually around 12/mm average, but my 5k is 10:45/mm. You DUSTED me!!!
-
I'm with everyone - anything in moderation and if it fits in your calories (or macros, if that's your thing), have at it! I have a down and dirty love affair with coffee, so you know darned well that I make sure it fits in my daily calories.

You've waved/nodded/said hello to more people (as in, other runners during your run!) in a one hour period than you normally would all month
-
I'm going to add to this: if you're going out and it's snowing, wear BRIGHT GEAR, as in neon/day-glow, not just reflective gear. Sometimes, with snow squalls or wind drifts, headlights won't catch the reflective gear through the falling snow. But if you are BRIGHT, you can be seen.
-
Wow...just....wow!!!! You are AMAZING!!!!
-
  Your purse has more of your running supplies than anything else! I always have my headphones, RoadID, Sports Beans, Gatorade Chews, Amphipod with my Epipens, and my phone holder. Just in case!
-
Yeah, but YOU DID IT!!!! You pushed through, never gave up, and DID IT!!! You deserve a huge congratulations!!!
-
I'd love to get a sub 30 5k!!! Way to go!

I think that like anything new and exciting, it's all encompassing. Researching, logging, checking, rechecking, logging again, working out, so on and so forth, I was on here SO much. But once things start becoming more familiar, it becomes more of a routine and you're not putting as much mental effort into things. As with…
