No I think ALL dating is such. That's the point of dating in the first place but I think most will not admit it.

Thanks for this post :) It's nice to see there are 'ladies' on this site! :) (note for the other ladies, I won't quote all of you but I'm glad to see you exist in numbers here!)

I wish more people realized the wisdom in this. Thanks for sharing! As a guy I am often appalled at men (even myself sometimes -- in the past mind you) and that is why I've taught my daughters (and continue to remind my beautiful wife) men are pigs -- ALL men are pigs. Sadly, sex has become a simple form of entertainment…

Good to know I'm not alone :D Specially since your weight loss is inline with what I'm hoping to achieve (I was 282 at my heaviest and am down to 234 but it's been a stair step -- or maybe two step! - challenge all the way!)

I met my wife online and we're still madly in love after 11 years :) Having said that I experienced some strange things when dating online: 1. Many people are 'window shopping'. I often felt the women I met online who had been there more then a few months were doing what I called 'window shopping' in that they were looking…

Stay motivated :) For me weight loss is not a linear and easily calculated thing. Simple put, my weight seems to drop in 'steps' I can lose 5 pounds one week and then nothing the next or just 1/2 to 2 or 3 in the next then nothing, then 3-4 more and then just a little and even sometimes go up a little before going down…

Me too :) I'm here multiple times a day! I work on my computer from home so have to be logged in a minimum of 8 hours a day -- I run two monitors (one for work, one for whatever else) so I constantly log in -- in part to read the forums and in part because as I eat throughout the day I log in and make any adjustments to my…

Ya what he said! Great post!

I think the movie 'Hungry for Change' helped me with this in one line: Do not tell yourself 'I can't have that' because then you will crave it but rather say "I don't want that" and you will not. I found this to be a key element to losing the 45 pounds I've lost! It's simple: I don't want that. Try it, it might help! Also,…

Nope :) In fact I'm HIGH Carbs :) 55% of my daily caloric intake is carbs (ok 50-55%) and I've lost 45 pounds. However, most people think whole grain rice isn't a carb as well as Quinoa, whole wheat, oatmeal etc.

I think you're correct. Lowering sodium isn't a method for reducing bodyfat BUT it is something that should be understood and because we have no idea how to property eat as a people (come on really! Mac-n-cheese is food?) we tend to get WAY more then what is considered 'safe'....3500+mgs a day without adding potassium for…

185? Really? Impressive! Amazing really! That would put you in the top of any power lifting comp for all natural women in the lower weight classes (below 150 anyway). I was trained in the early '80's by a 120 pound woman who honestly, when we met I thought "ya right"! She then proceeded to educate me ;) I have a great deal…

Yes yes I understand balancing electrolytes etc and I also realize that there are and were studies showing that too little sodium can be as bad or worse then too much. However, many people trying to lose weight watch their weight closely, eat too much sodium, see the weight go up and complain they have reached a plateau…

According to a previous post you lost 15lbs by the 6th of June or before...that was a week ago. 3 weeks ago I dropped to 234 I'm 235 today...I haven't really reached a plateau. You see, your weight can go up and down on a regular basis and some weeks it might go up even though you are making progress. I find this happens…

plateaus happen anyway. Fact is the human body isn't going to lose perfectly the way we want it to every week. Sure some do see mechanically accurate losses but most don't. Drop 5 one week and stabilize for two then drop 5 more and drop 3 and then gain one and sit there for a week or two before losing 4 a week 3 in a row!…

Good luck! I prefer to not starve so I'm willing to work hard to gain back the right to eat a little more :D :D (Big cheesy grin)

Using MFPs calculators my level is equivalent to using a TDEE calculator and doing about TDEE-25% when I eat back what I burn.
-
Yup :) probably for most of us. I used to eat 2800 calories per day on average....today I try to eat half that!!! Yikes! Talk about a fight. But each time I go out and ride 13 miles or walk 4 I know I get more calories so I eat some or all of them back -- my daily deficit is 1000 calories so if I burn 600 and eat 600 more…
-
Yes of course but eating back calories you burned does not negate the deficit. If your BMR times activity level gives you 2000 calories per day and you reduce that to 1500 per day (a 500 cal deficit) then you should be able to lose about 1lb per week. This is what you do when you set your goals, you tell MFP to tell you…

haha Love it! That's me sometimes too! Usually after dinner when my wife makes brownies ;)

I've only just skimmed a bit in here but I wonder: how many of you were trying to gain weight who tried various protein rich diets? Pete Grymkowski talks about protein uptake in a book he wrote many years ago (some of us were bodybuilding in past decades) and he argued that very very large amounts of protein were required…

Thanks ") I had some typo's in there (like if you wanted to lose 2lbs a month -- I meant a week). A note on walking in the evenings: You CAN and some argue SHOULD walk right after your evening meal. I know this seems contrary to what most often say but research has shown that a slower walk 2.5-3.5mph) after a meal, that is…
-
The premise behind the daily caloric amount giving is based on your BMR (NOT BMI -- they are different things) multiplied by your daily activity level. SO if you were honest (like putting sedentary because you sit at a desk all day like me) and stick to that then adding back calories earned when exercising actually makes…

I'm 47 (will be 48 next month) and have lost 45 pounds since December of last year (26 since joining MFP). The key, I think, is to start thinking differently. Losing the weight and getting in shape requires a life change and the mentality that goes with it. Determine to change your life (that means what you eat and do on a…

DRINKACT and water mostly but I toss in lemonade to mix it up

Exactly! My wife and I did a nice 4.2 mile hike this morning (walk really) and I burned 625 calories on that. Because of this I added 1/4 cup of milk (3.5%), 1/4 cup of bran and 1/4 of bear naked granola (to my 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 1/4 cup of wheat berries with agave necter (3/4th TBS) and cinnamon. I'm 'eating back'…
