Please feel free to add me. I older than you are, an inch shorter than you are. I started out at 302 lbs or so at the end of last October a few weeks after my fiftieth birthday, and I had had enough of being out of shape. I ma now down to 258 lbs. My goal is to be down to between 185 and 192 by my fifty-first birthday.…

Becky, Welcome to MFP. Made a decision to take my life back just before my fiftieth birthday last October. Most of it has been a lifestyle change moving away from processed foods and making healthy food choices. I started that journey really in the last week of October when I was away on business in Europe for nearly three…

Your doing great, feel free to add me and I will like you on you FB page as well..

Great to see you are at least moving forward. I really enjoy the community here that is super encouraging. It is just counting the calories I find but making healthy food choices. I have practically given up all processed foods since late October of last year, plus thrown in some exercise three days a week. Since then I…

Welcome aboard MFP, I've been here for a bit now and it really is about lifestyle change and becoming more aware about healthy food choices. I have found that consistency is one of the most important factors. Now that I have lost over 32 lbs since the end of last October, though didn't join MFP until some three months…

That is super! Happy for you! I'm sure you will reach your goals... Have a great week!

Started in psychology though switched to Slavic languages and literature - then did an MA in the same, and then an MLIS - but what really counts is the school of life!

Good for you...

To the person who has mentioned their starting to going to Planet Fitness that is great, but I what helped me a lot was learning how to eat healthier foods - I stay away from processed and highly processed foods completely and that is what has made a big difference this time around in trying to get rid of my extra weight.…

Welcome to MFP, It's good to hear the news on your loss since January. I was out for a walk too this morning and you are right about it being a start. When I decided to make a lifestyle change back at the end of October, I found it difficult to walk two miles without taking a break. This morning I walked just over six…

So far I have been here for a big 50 days... and I appreciate the support here. Anyone who wishes to add me please do so. I like to provide support and encouragement as well - used to coach swimming and swam competitively for years. Started my new lifestyle, last autumn.

That "revelation" or "epiphany" as a personal friend who is a personal trainer calls it, was when I had a hard time tying up my shoe laces and had to sit down and lift my leg up to tie them. I still out of habit do that but it is no longer a necessity. Always looking for support and willing to support others, so after…

Such comments and little events are so encouraging. I started my journey shortly after my 50 birthday and a prolonged business trip to Germany before which I decided to change my lifestyle a great deal. Before I left 44 inch waist jeans were snug to say the least... and my belts were on their last notches... Now in three…

To the person above who stated: " My hubby just joined in this week with me. He is a former sporty man that never learned how to eat properly because he never had to worry about it. Now at 52 and after having a hip replacement and shoulder rebuild all in one year everything is catching up with him." And good look to you…

This is super news for you... Congratulations... Lifestyle changes are easier when you have someone who you can support and can support you! This is awesome!

I can't be bothered to read through all the bs that I have read through thousand of times on posts.. The point is that nothing has to do with diet... that ****ty word should not even be used here and should be forbidden. We are talking lifestyle change people if you want to loose weight and then keep it off. I've been…

Because I have started this journey so many times, right now it is my journey and no one else's. Most people are detractors because in all honesty they don't like to see people who are stronger then they are or competitors. To take on the journey of loosing weight and changing your lifestyle takes a great deal of effort.…

Will have to agree with agirlscamaro that toned is indeed a great more attractive then the body builder look. But it is all up to you.

"Do what you can do TODAY and get better. " This is a great line and we should all remember it. Take things one day at a time.

Squiffy, you seem like you have been dealt with quite a plate full of things but you have a great deal of courage to want to change. Good for you.I've been through a lot though I have not been through half of what you have been even tough I have lived twice as long. The most important thing I have learned and become aware…

Can't say I am finding a lot of good deals in the stores because of it. Some things I wouldn't buy otherwise - particularly cheeses... and now I'm getting ramped up as the duckies and bunnies are hitting the fields. I can be our scampering more often too... LOL. But no I am not on Saturday before Easter Sunday a friend of…

This is a deviation from the original topic, but think about why the FDA even lets crap out on the market that Big Pharma puts outs. Listening to the FDA which sits in the pocket of Big Pharma is like leaving a wolf to look after the sheep. Traditional modern medicine is never into anything that will be good for you…

Good luck to all you fellow Canucks out there. Feel free to add me as a friend after reading my profile. I like the fact that the person who started this thread used the phrase lifestyle change. Montreal here, but have lived in many places including Kitchener, Waterloo, Ottawa and Kyiv. Welcome to MFP... Ive been here a…

First of all, I don't think you are using a term that really even belongs here. The word "diet" is often associated with the fad type of food changes. I honestly don't struggle with anything, I love to cook I create interesting but healthy meals. If you think eating healthy is dieting, you have something wrong with you.

You look great... Congrats...

John, Take a look at my profile and and me if you like. The more positive people we have around the merrier and the more successful we can all be. V.

Well let's put it this way. I have never met such a bunch of supporting people in a long time. Sure there are a few whiners around, and a few toxic people it is is easy to ignore them. Read my profile and add me as a friend if you like! I try to be positive about things in general and life. Welcome to MFP!

Just remember that probably more than 50% of people go to gyms or health clubs to say that they go, but when it comes down to it they are there for the social aspect and are lying to themselves and others that they work out. It's like the idiots I see who are reading magazines on the treadmill or stationary bike. One can…
