I am in the midst of converting my regular desk to a standing desk by building a few frames. For those of you have made the transition to a stand-up desk, have you seen an changes? For example, your posture, better overall feeling or anything. I'm going to do this regardless, but it would be nice to hear your experiences!…

Most of you are folks I've never chatted with, but to the guy who started this thread! Good on you mate for starting and whatever you do, don't give up! Do what works for you. Cycling is my exercise of choice followed by swimmmng for a reason that you can probably very well understand. The stress on your knees and back can…

Or there is always the Pink Floyd version of that - "If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?" :noway: I personally don't weigh everything to the gram and make pretty good estimates. I try to be as honest as possible with everything thing I cook and…

Sarah! Congratulations! You have done a great job.. Inspirational.. I now know I am on the right track.. Time to head out the door, I'm down about fifty-three lbs since the end of last October. Still have about another fifteen to go until mid-October, when I had made that decision to gain back my life. Good on you girl!…

Agree with everyone else regarding the shoes. We have all heard the idiom, "Penny wise and pound foolish!' This applies to the shoes you end up selecting and spending money on. Improper shoe selection can lead to problems further down the road as someone above has mentioned. Years ago I had success with both Nike and New…

Ashleigh, welcome to MFP, while I had well over 100lbs to loose when I started my journey. I have about 70 lbs left and have lost about 51 lbs so far. I stated on this journey before MFP, but everyone here has similar goals. I enjoy encouraging and being encouraged. So you and anyone else here who reads this is more than…

Mate, you've done a great job! Keep up the good work, when you write you have 58kg left I know where you are coming from completely. I know you are motivated I can see it in your face... I too made a decision some time back last autumn. I was then 136.5 kg about eight months down the road I'm now about 114 kg and I'm glad…

We have all heard the expression - "Garbage in, garbage out!" Well unfortunately the big chemical plant known as the human body was never designed to deal with the "Garbage in" portion of that saying, nor was it meant to sit in front of the idiot box on average over 33 hours a week, whilst stuffing one's mouth with…

Feel free to add me. Not only does it keep us motivated, it keeps us honest with ourselves... Bill aka Vasyl

When I started back at the end of October of last year, I was really hurting by the time I got to walking for 40 minutes at a dog walk pace... Since them I have lost about 42 lbs and things in my regime have been changing, particularly with the weather getting warmer. Currently I go to the gym three times a week, Monday,…

Feel free to add me and I agree, what we all are doing is not a Diet... but a lifestyle change...

Hello Tom, and to anyone else reading this and who is pretty new to MFP! Support, encouragement and understanding is what every needs and your introduction to us here will surely garner all of those from those who become your friends on this lifestyle change you have chosen to make. Unlike you Tom, I as a teen never had…

Mate, I have been doing that and thanks for the Kudos... I hope the weather holds up tomorrow in the morning. Planning a 50km ride for the morning similar to the one I did last Saturday but with a little twist there is a hill thrown in that is about 1 km long at the end before I take the loop home, that was one of my…

Incredible, good for you! I know what you mean about cycling. I shared it somewhere else, but maybe here wouldn't be so bad either. It was an article in Bicyling Magazine about a month ago entitled "6 Reasons Biking Boosts Weight Loss" And you can read it here: http://tinyurl.com/bg25j73

I'm glad you guys pointed me out to Strava, it will help me motivate myself regularly. I have uploaded all my rides I have done in the past two or three weeks now. I can see that there are others who are I would and could have never had even the opportunity of meeting when I was in my peak of cycling fitness nearly 27…

I managed to get registered on Strava, had some problems yesterday. Sent them an e-mail this morning when I encountered the same problem and within an hour I was on. The download from Endomondo was very simple as was the import to Strava... Looks like it will be one more little step, but being a part of something beats the…

Strava's only has apps for Android and iPhone.. So if I just log on Strava, without the GPS verification that will be OK with you? I haven't logged in yet, but will do so and check it out a bit more... cutting and pasting data will not be a problem or me, if I have to do so between apps.

Can it be verified by an another app and not just Strava? I Run a Blackberry and use Endomondo! Because if so I'm in for June! Username: VasylP Name: Bill or Vasyl June Indoor goal: 120 miles June Outdoor goal: 400 miles Here is a sample of a ride I did on Saturday http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/191384226/728903 Sorry…

Shoemann, no problem we are in similar boats.. I am not trying to conjure up the knowledge of my previously healthier self in this journey. At times there are things that are coming back naturally, hopefully within a few weeks I will be getting in the pool a few times a week as well. I swam competitively for many years and…

Hi there and it is nice to see others who have made a lifestyle change. I still have about 75 lbs to loose to be at my ideal weight or close to it and not obese. I have lost about 33 lbs in the last six months or so. But summer is hear and more reasons to be active. I enjoy supporting others and I enjoy the support of…
