I just want to say that over 50 is NOT old! I'm 59 and I started October 7th (even though I signed up earlier too, it took me a while to get started). I'm losing by counting calories, and you will too. Just be sure to log everything, on good days and bad (and there will be bad ones!). It works best for me to log my food…

Going to have to try these. Thanks for the recipes.

You will have setbacks, but don't let them get you down. I've been at this only 12 weeks and I already had one setback. One week I had 3 days over 2500 calories. I still haven't figured out why I was so hungry that week (maybe because I worked night shift?), but I got right back to my calorie goal and kept on losing…

Hi all. My name is Kathy and I thought this challenge might be fun to try. The calorie goals and logging my food I do every day, but I'm in this to get my exercise in every day. That is going to be my biggest challenge!
-
No. I didn't go over my calorie goal.

I log every day and actually do it the night before so I know what I am having the next day. I sometimes change it the next day, but not too often. This has helped me immensely because logging calories is the only thing that has helped me lose weight. I imagine that I will keep doing this for life. I don't mind doing it…

Counting calories is the way to go. If I counted just carbs I'd be way over my calorie goal because I rarely get to the carb goal set for me on MFP.

I'm from the beautiful finger lakes and wine country. I love the cold! It motivates me much more than the heat does. Shoveling snow is great exercise! LOL

I eat peanuts or pecans or pistachios almost every day, but as was said, you have to weigh them. I only eat a small amount, which may be hard for you. They taste sooo good you want more, but that is what self-control is about. I know I can always have more tomorrow! It is worth to me to fit them into my calories. But I can…

Only when I'm sleeping, about 8-10 hrs each day. I have sugar everyday, because I try to stay away from the sugar substitutes.

Bump. Thanks for all the info. Don't need it quite yet, but will in the future.

I know how you feel. Last week I was the same way. I was eating 2500-3000 calories per day and couldn't stop myself. I even blew off my personal trainer, and I had already paid for the session! I always have this reaction about 8-10 weeks into weight loss. Usually I just give up, but this time it was different. This week I…

My resolution is to not make any resolutions...oops, well only this one.

I plan my meals and put them into MFP the night before. Then I know exactly what I am eating the next day and don't get sidetracked from my calorie goal. I also have my food spread out during the day. If I eat too much too early I end up getting hungry later in the day, so I try to even it out. I also like the walking…

I weigh every day first thing when I get up (not always in the morning though! LOL). I don't record tenths myself, but that is just my preference. I log any differences whether I go up or down. I don't round the tenths either (ie. 238.2 is 238 and 238.7 is also 238) As was already said, you just need to stay consistent…

That is GREAT!!! I can't wait to get there too!

I live in Waterloo, in the beautiful finger lakes area...wine country! Becky - I know where Marcellus is...I drive through it to get to Onondaga Hill and Jamesville!

Bump!

I think I will have to try this...I love old bay seasoning. Thanks.

Wow, great ideas. I've been avoiding eating out because I'm just beginning my weight loss journey, but this showed me that I can do it and stay within my calories. I tried to look online before I went out, but got discouraged because all my old favorites were way too many calories. Thanks for the help!

I say get a t-shirt made that says "I don't care what YOU think...I'm in here for ME!" and wear it every time you go.

My sweet tooth, especially black licorice or snickers bars. I am okay if it is not in the house, but then my husband brings something home and my willpower goes out the door. I just need to get him on board with me (he is overweight too, but not motivated to do something about it yet).

I actually started on a Monday because my work week is generally Friday-Sunday. It was my first day off. This Monday 12/9 is eight weeks in and still going strong because I enjoy tracking what I eat. The first time I signed up for MFP I never even got started with it...hmmm, I wonder what day that was?!!

Hazelnut coffee with sugar free french vanilla creamer, 55g of frosted miniwheats and 1/2 C skim milk. I am up wayyyyy early today...I usually get up around noon (evening worker), so I will have a second breakfast of 2 eggs scrambled with onion and green peppers topped with 1 tbs of ketchup at noon.

Did you weight the poop? Seriously, did you?!

This week I will: walk 20 minutes every day drink 4-6 glasses of water every day start weight training with my personal trainer eat 3-4 vegetables daily not give in to my relatives when it comes to what I eat put in my food for each day the night before

I had looked at MFP before and even signed in, but never followed through. My "moment" came seven weeks ago when I was almost crying because it was so hard to get dressed and I was struggling to tie my shoes. I had to ask my husband to tie them for me! I started on MFP the next day and have lost 20 lbs so far. I have a…

I just tell myself it's okay to be hungry. When I do this I acknowledge how I'm feeling without giving in to it. This may not work for everyone, but it works for me.
