I am not reading any of the responses posted as every time I see someone raise "starvation mode" as a reason another might not be losing weight, it makes me want to...well... you get the picture. That said, I'm glad you raised your original point. For what it's worth, I thought this article made a lot of sense:…

I use liquid Stevia, which comes in a dropper bottle and in a variety of flavors, including hazelnut and vanilla. You can find it at just about any "organic" grocery store. By the way, the last time I researched the subject, Stevia didn't get any bad press like all the other artificial sweeteners get. Good luck!

Based on the way you framed your question, I'm going to presume that you are new to, for lack of a better term, "fitness". (By the way, I'm no expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.) If you can spare it, taking some time to do research online and arming yourself with knowledge will prove invaluable.…

I'm going to be in the minority here, but I have a novel idea on how to use your leftover calories...drum roll, please.......... ..............................use them to lose more weight! I cannot figure out why so many people insist that you eat back your calories, or eat more than you need to. If you have all the energy…

Just to add to what poster shinkalork suggested, I've seen the 10 Minute Trainer videos and as long as you work out with all-out intensity, that, when combined with a diet that puts you in a caloric deficit, will do the job (although your progress MAY come a little slower than others who workout and diet harder or…

It's interesting that you're getting such varied responses. I think part of it has to do with using the term term "toned". To this day, I still don't know what that really means, since I first heard it being tossed around during the early days of Jane Fonda videos. LOL Based on your photo, you look great in clothes, which…

From what I've been told by someone on menopause who has started and stopped HRT twice (and gained 10 pounds each time after stopping) and who now is struggling with fat loss, achieving weight loss after stopping HRT can be its own unique animal (and a nightmare). It sounds like your situation is a little different since…

Since you specifically mentioned the elliptical trainer and exercise bicycle in your post, I would just add that if you're going to perform cardio, you should look into High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) techniques, which will assist with burning body fat while preserving muscle, if you agree with its proponents…

Personally, what worries me is not so much the alcohol but the poor eating decisions that often follow (e.g., late night Taco Bell). Consequently, I've cut out all alcohol temporarily until I hit my target weight and BF%, mainly because I want to get dieting over as quickly as possible. It's not that difficult for me, but…

I'm no expert, and there are those who will disagree with me and say that you need more calories than that, but here's my short answer: Not necessarily, if you do it right and there isn't some other limitation that prevents you from operating safely and healthily at 1,200 calories. Now, here's the expanded version of my…

I have a two to four hour eating window and that has worked for me (during fat loss). There's an informative and entertaining (if you don't mind the profanity) YouTube channel called Fasting Twins. Check it out.

Ten pounds is a great start. A lot of people are going to say to just "hang in there". I'm going to go against the grain, however, and say that if you're not getting the results you want after three weeks, then you need to change things up, as opposed to "hanging in there" alone. Some people are going to say that you're…

It would be nice to cut out all caffeine in theory, but since I'm in fat burning mode, operating at a caloric deficit, and now intermittent fasting, there is no way I could give up my coffee, as in addition to being a thermogenic, it's also great for suppressing my appetite during fasting hours. To give it some flavor, I…

Boy...that's a tough one. I get those same hunger pangs at least a couple of times a week. Here's how I get through them when I do (although what works for me isn't necessarily a solution for everyone): (A) I drink coffee, which seems to work quite well (mostly in the mornings); (B) I eat something that's low carb...can…

Hello. To clarify, apparently, I signed up for myfitnesspal some years ago (but don't remember doing it). I think I just logged in that one time...before doing so again tonight (looking for a calorie counter). I agree 100% about the range of caloric deficits. 250-500 calories seems to be a common range I see mentioned…

This is my first post or reply on here, and so please pardon me, but I'm a bit confused. If the objective is weight loss (and hopefully mostly body fat loss versus muscle loss), isn't being in a caloric deficit the idea? If so, then regardless of whether calories in or calories out comes from diet or activity levels, you…
