I just recently got a smart-device, so I went through and tried a number of running apps and Runtastic was the one I liked best, as far as functionality and stats. (There are apps I didn't try, of course, and I can't remember all the ones I did, but I consistently found myself thinking "Runtastic did this better..." or…

Broccoli! Loooooove broccoli. Steamed and seasoned with lemon pepper or nutritional yeast or just plain. Yum. And brussels sprouts, steamed and sprinkled with balsamic vinegar. But I've also never met a vegetable that tasted bad after it's been roasted with garlic and olive oil. :D

I think the program is great! I started it twice before it really clicked with me - I didn't stop because it was too hard, I was just lazy. The third time I decided to stick with it no matter what, and I did. It might have taken me a little longer because I repeated some days, but I did it. I've been running for two years…

I just got some running leggings from Old Navy (40% off in the states, too), and they're soooo comfy. I don't have experience with their plus sizes, but I've gotten petite jeans from their online shop before - still not short enough for me, but oh well. :D

This is how I feel. I've been running for 3 years and doing HIIT workouts and the like for about 1.5, and ... ugh. I just generally don't like expending a lot of energy, lol. I wasn't an active kid, but I never had a ton of weight to lose, either. I'm just lazy, I guess. I much prefer to be creating something (with paint,…

I prefer local to organic, but like people have said, local often is organic. The one thing I will only buy organic is apples. In my grocery store at least, conventional apples are sprayed to within an inch of their lives with wax, while organic apples are not. That wax tastes/feels gross when I bite into it, and I just…

Me tooooooo! I carry most of my weight in my butt & thighs, but I also have pudgy knees. Mine have gotten better lately, so there's hope for everyone. :D My fat upper arms were the first to go - they're not great-looking, but at least they fit comfortably in my shirts now. My calves have shrunk as well. And I have some…

I haven't been diagnosed with celiac disease, but when I cut gluten out of my diet I noticed I had drastically fewer headaches (I'd get... oh, two a week before and now maybe two a month) and my left knee that started bothering me when I started running was suddenly not a problem. Other than that, I haven't noticed…

I've found that having a cheat day usually means I drop a pound the next day! Of course you can't "cheat" too often. :D But I've also found that letting myself eat as much as I want means I feel waaaaay too full and gross. So it's a nice reminder, too.

I'm 4'11" and I just got down to 112 yesterday. (Which is amazing because I've never weighed less than 135 since like middle school or something.) I'm still amazed at the amount of flab I have though. My tentative goal has been 105, but I'm not sure. When I get there I'll reevaluate. But I don't really care what the scale…

Oh man, this! Except my tailbone/lower spine always hurt me on hard surfaces, even at my highest weight (but I've only ever been at most 40 lbs overweight). I work out at home on wood floors, and an exercise mat is NOT enough to keep me from serious pain when I do crunches or whatever. I use a blanket plus the mat, and…

Steamed broccoli - I could eat it like candy! Also steamed brussels sprouts with a sprinkle of balsamic vinegar. Green beans sauteed with a little garlic and mushrooms! Roasted red peppers! Roasted carrots! My favorite non-cooked vegetable is the sugar snap pea. OMG so delicious.

Exercise all the way. I've never really liked moving around a lot, I guess. Even as a kid I was always inside reading or drawing, and then when I was 9 or so I discovered I had hayfever. Yay. I'm lucky to have good willpower with food, and lucky to have not been very overweight to begin with. Eating too much or badly…

Yesssss this is me! I start running and my nose turns into a faucet! I only run outside and find it's actually better on damp/humid days and worse on dry days. Something that sort of helped me was drinking a glass of lemon water a hour or so before going running. I did this because I started producing a lot of mucus in my…

I've had some really disgusting honey greek yogurt too! What do they do to it to make it so gross? Using real honey makes a huge difference. Adding a little lemon to honey-sweetened yogurt is really yummy. For other flavors, I make my own jam, and it's lower sugar than store-bought jam, so I use that. But if I want it…

I'm a huge fan of chai in the morning! There's a tea shop sort of near me that does an amazing smoked lapsang souchong/yerba mate chai blend (called Short Sands Chai, after a local beach). Nnnnnnng, so delicious. They also do a vanilla rose chai that tastes divine with honey. My favorite to drink cold is Tazo Passion (or…

I'm smaller than you (34B) but I LOOOOVE my Champion from Target. (I think it's called C9? It's seamless, and has a sort of texture on the front.) So comfy and cheap! I run it in with no issues. I got one at regular price and one on clearance for $11.

*hugs* if you're a hug person. That feeling really sucks. I don't really like working out either. I don't like running, but I guess I'm a runner. What motivates me is being done with a workout or a run! Then I can say that I did it, and not have to worry about it for the rest of the day. Sort of backwards, but if you think…

I lost about 10-15 lbs over a year and a half of running, but that was with my pre-calorie restriction food intake. I was ~35 lbs from my goal weight when I started running. I don't know how much weight I would have lost if I were eating less! I haven't done much running since signing up here because of an ankle problem,…

This is me. I'm lucky that I don't really really like chocolate... EXCEPT for those 3-4 days around the start of my period. So I eat chocolate for a few days a month. I don't allow myself to stuff my face, of course, but I'd normally choose to spend my calories on something other than chocolate things because I don't like…

No kidding! Good god, this thread is terrifying. I live in the US and imagining even a quarter of the idiots I meet during a day carrying guns makes me want to hide under my covers forever. (Not saying gun owners or anyone in this thread are idiots, just that it sounds like people are advocating everyone to be armed and…

Yesssssss. If I can't get fancy imported dark chocolate (and I rarely can) I go for Dove. Also 2 tbsp Dagoba Xocolatl drinking chocolate + 1 tbsp baking cocoa + a few drops stevia (or a bit of sugar) + 8 oz. milk. The Dagoba has small chunks of dark chocolate or something which really add to the experience. And it's a bit…

I have a not-smartphone and nothing else to use an app on. :( I wish I did!

This is what I do too! It's way easier than trying to calculate a "serving" for lots of things, because I don't always want the same amount. It's simple to just throw it on the scale and figure it out that way. There are things I make with certain numbers of servings - like egg muffins which come out of a 12-muffin pan -…

High five. This post wins. Whoops - fail! Edit to quote the post I was referring to.

I had a similar-ish problem, in that my ankle started twinging during my runs. First I would notice it after about 25 minutes, then a week later it was after 20, then 15, then 10, then 7... I decided to stop before it became an actual injury. (The ankle didn't hurt when I stopped running, although I could sometimes feel it…

This! I LOVE Zuzka (and HIIT). All my non-running workouts are ZWOWs or old Bodyrocks with her. But her site is a bit cumbersome, and I don't have any equipment besides some weights. So I use this site http://litealloy.com/workouts/tags# to figure out which workout to do for the day. You can select different tags - like…

This is my favorite! Quinoa tabbouleh from allrecipes: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/quinoa-tabbouleh/ Sometimes I leave out the parsley if I don't have any and it is still delicious. I often leave out the cucumbers too because I can't always handle their texture for some reason... My tips for quinoa are to 1) make sure you…

This. Just because I'm also 4'11" and have a lower goal than you doesn't mean your goal is "wrong". Likely we have completely different body types! There are so many considerations (like medical ones) for individual goal weights that it's sort of useless comparing. And there's something to be said for setting small goals,…
