  • I guess I'm so old that I don't understand. I can't tell if you 'kids' are putting us senior citizens down, making fun of us, or what. I have 2 pair of white tennis shoes (that's what we called them 60 years ago when they were black). I have my shirt tail tucked in all the time. Looks better; check the pic of Mr. Eastwood…
  • Every day; sometimes twice in the same day if I happen to walk by the scale in our warehouse. Write the results on a small notepad on my desk. When the page gets full of numbers -- about once a week or so -- I'll average these numbers & log it. This avoids a sawtooth graph due to the influence of normal daily fluctuations.…

  • Nope, and I never will. HYE been bitten by a snake?
  • Cut a softball, baseball, croquet ball, or similar in half. Cut a circular piece of 1/2" thick plywood about 2 feet in diameter. Glue the half-ball to the plywood, centered. The assembly should look like Saturn, cut in half at the equator, with the rings being the outer edge of the plywood. Place the assembly, with the…
  • Last 2 posts should have gone on T/F thread.
  • I don't cheat. If I go over my budget, it's an accident, & I make it up in the next few days.
  • A friend posted the question on Facebook: If you could stay in one season from now on, which one would you pick. I said answered autumn because it would always be football season. :-) My first love: High School. Hey, I live in Texas! Second: College. Hook 'em Horns. Third: NFL. Cowboys.
  • He is 55; she was 57. Second marriage for both; no children from THIS union, but both had grown children from prior unions. He is a piping flexibility analyst; she was a nurse. Jim had a serious motorcycle accident a couple of years ago and miraculously survived. His wife took early retirement to care for him during his…
  • OP, I'm an engineer. So, in our world, two and two equals four. Every time. No matter how large the numerals are, no matter if you used a pencil or a calculator, no matter what. It's four. Unfortunately, this site must also adhere to that law, but our bodies do not. Sometimes, it's 3.9; others it's 4.1. Did you REALLY burn…
  • A friend sells plexus. My wife bought into it, bought the little jug that you drink it from, the whole nine yards. I had just reached my goal through MFP, but my wife insisted on going the Plexus route. Not just for weight loss, but for all the other "health" advantages. Fast forward a year. I'm still logging, maintaining,…
  • No logging for spices, medications, tasting, water. Everything else, yes.
  • Custom orthotics worked for me. Felt like a golf ball in my shoe at first, but I got used to it. No pain for 12 yrs now. Cheap? Heck, no. Worth every penny.
  • OP, you have my permission to ignore the gung-ho lifters who say lift heavy or you are wasting your time. I started lifting in 1963 in high school. I took olympic lifting as a PE requirement in college, so lifting heavy was "the" way to go to prepare for competitions. I started officiating football in 1970 & needed a good…
  • Think of it in the opposite direction: If you eat more calories than you burn in a day, what happens? You gain weight, with the excess calories being stored in your body as fat. So then the converse, eating fewer calories than you burn, means you'll lose weight.
  • Haven't eaten breakfast since junior high. On weekends, I like a bowl of cereal when I get up ... about noon. But daily, no. BTW, I noticed no difficulty (related to lack of breakfast) in losing 35 pounds in 10 months.
  • You have my permission.
  • The blood-mobile comes to our office about every 8 weeks, & I always donate. I don't do anything different except consume the fruit juice & cookies that they give you as you leave. Never had a problem.
  • Weather.com says it's 99 right now with a Heat Index of 103. What to do? Sit in the den with the A/C blowing. Don't dare go outside. My hearing aids quit when I perspire, and I do that ... heavily.
  • Yes, I include donuts, cinnamon rolls, and other "forbidden" items. I just try to compensate on those days by cutting back elsewhere.

  • C'mon everyone. We all know it's ...... SEX
  • Intentionally? No. I just got back from vacation yesterday, and with all the dining out, I gained 1.5 pounds in eleven days. Fortunately, I started the vacation 2 pounds under my goal weight. There are no benefits. If you are in the 'losing' stage, reaching your goal will take longer. If you are 'maintaining' like me, your…
  • @nph1960. She was my first friend when I signed up 5 1/2 years ago. We've become close just thru emails, exchanging family pics and discussing things that good friends would talk about. Never met in person; probably never will.
  • I'm not on a diet. Dieting never worked for me. First, I couldn't stay on it. Second, I couldn't stay with it. When I tried MFP, the weight came off easily and steadily. As others have said, I eat whatever I want, just observing the portions to control the calorie intake. Pizza? Donuts? Sure. No deprivations. Ten months…
  • My son is an avid hunter -- turkey, pheasant, deer, wild boar, quail, duck -- just about anything. His first step is to soak the meat in milk at least overnight in the refrigerator. After that, season the meat as you would "normal" beef, pork, or chicken. He smokes most of the meats. [His chicken-fried venison is to die…
