I think this blog post by James Altucher explains encapsulates the need to follow a concrete "system", rather than a "goal". It's a really good read. jamesclear.com/goals-systems. I think the main take-away is to commit to a process, not a goal . . . once you've committed to a process, the goal will take care of itself.

Calorie restriction can work, but you also want make sure that you're changing your diet, as 80% of weight loss comes from the types of foods you put in your body and how those foods interact with your hormones. Haha, I had lost 8 sticks of butter back in March, but I've gained back those 8 sticks in April/May. Time to turn up the heat and start melting that butter!
