  • I like the way I am starting to look. My chest is starting to get redefined, and my arms, especially my forearms look lean and muscled even at rest. I'm starting to fill out the arms of shirts again without stretching out the belly part of the shirt, which is good. It is becoming somewhat of an addiction, in a good way. It…
  • Great work! I can't wait to be under 300 for the first time in 10 years. You're almost there! I put another 10lbs on my deadlift today, up to 285 for reps, and I know I can still add more next week. The program I follow has you add 10 lbs a week to deadlift and squat until you plateau, and 5 lbs to bench and OHP. I guess I…
  • That's why I created this community. There are a lot of people like us, and yet our kind is very under-represented here. I started this community so big guys and gals could share stories that we all could relate to. None of us want to read about some 5'6" 165lb guy trying to get his arms bigger. We have different…
  • Yeah, I'm only 6'2", but my little brother is 6'4" and skinny and my older brother is 6'8" and at a healthy weight. He does indeed get asked all the time how tall he is. One of my favorite anecdotes comes from my time as a regular at the local pub by my house, which has sadly closed. I used to go there with my good friend…
  • Just wanted to add that yesterday I went to DestinationXL with a nifty $20 coupon they sent me and got size XLT (Yep, that's only ONE X) undershirts AND THEY FIT. Tight in the chest and arms (a good thing) but plenty of room in the gut, and plenty to tuck in to my pants. It fit so nice, I bought a 2 pack of black V neck…
  • It's all about making better choices every day. Instead of fast food, I make my lunches at work. Instead of picking something up from the store/heating up a frozen pizza, I prepare and cook dinners. I got lucky and found a hearty protein shake I like, and don't mind eating every morning for breakfast. I go home and use my…
  • Here's my typical day: Heavy lifting workout, protein shake for breakfast, salad and a protein for lunch, and then a balanced dinner. My TDEE - 20% is usually about 3000 calories. (6'2', 305lbs, 36 years old) and I usually don't crack 1600 calories for the day. Once a week I drink with friends. Still don't approach 3000…
  • I do all my tape measurements at rest on Saturday right after I weigh in, first thing in the morning. No pump, as you say. I like adding our height to this. I'm 6'2".
  • Ok, finally measured myself. Really happy with the tape. The scale and I are still not friends. SW 7/5/13 - 309 - Weight on August 5, 306. 7/5/13 Biceps - 18" - August 5, 19" Yeah bigger arms! 7/5/13 Chest - 52" - August 5, 54" Yeah Bigger chest! 7/5/13 Waist - 50" - August 5, 46" Yeah smaller waist! 7/5/13 Neck - 18" -…
  • Hurt my neck in the gym on shoulder day Friday, felt like a weak old man for the next two days while it healed. But, I got back in the gym today and crushed back day. Also, tried on jeans, and I'm officially down 2 pant sizes, almost 3. I used to wear 48 waist (US) and I tried on 44's yesterday, and they were loose. I'm…
  • PREACH. I don't use the word diet if I can avoid it. It truly is a Lifestyle Change. I still eat some of the old food I used to love, but now I eat much smaller portions, or I budget my calories so I can "afford" a splurge. We're all gonna make it, brahs.
  • I started at 371 when I started working out and eating better. I lost the first 10 lbs in a week. Mostly water weight, but it was still a thrill to watch that scale drop. I got down into the 330s pretty quickly, and then stalled for 3 weeks. I was starting to get frustrated, and then BAM! 6 lb drop in one week! I also only…
  • Couldn't attach the pic without destroying the quality. LINK! http://imgur.com/TZtwRCk
  • I lift HEAVY. I use the "Savage 4x4 Strength/Hypertrophy Split" routine and it is still kicking my *kitten* after 6 months. It is definitely making me stronger. I'll try to upload the side by side pic I took that shows my arms, chest, and shoulders after 6 months of strength training. Weights are your friend. Makes the 70…
  • DestinationXL. A bit pricey sometimes, but they have good sales, a GREAT clearance section, and they carry XLT and even some LT sizes. JC Penney, too. Much cheaper, but their XLT selection is thinner also.
  • I'm only 6'2", but I have a long torso (and still a bit of a gut!) so I always have to buy "Tall" shirts or I can't tuck them in properly.
  • Welcome aboard, man. This board is as active as you make it. If you want to post your struggles, triumphs, or just ***** and moan, we're here for you.
  • Great feeling, right? I tried on a smaller Ravens jersey that I couldn't wear last year, and it fit great. Well, it was a little snug in the biceps, but that's a GOOD thing.
  • Welcome aboard, man! Good to have you contributing!
  • That's a big hell yeah, brother! I packed my workout dvd's when I went away for a weekend in June. Wife thought I was nuts, I told her that that kind of thinking got us to where we were, my new attitude will get me to where I want to be. Keep at it!
  • First thing every morning, I hit the gym for an hour, doing the Savage 4x4 Strength/Hypertrophy split routine. Then, breakfast is a protein shake (32g of protein) and lunch is a big mixed greens salad with turkey, chicken, or turkey sausage. Dinner is sensible, lean meats, veg, low carbs and clocks in under 800 calories.…
  • I guess I really need to up my intake. From February of this year to just about now, I was eating 1200-1300 cals a day, tops. I just upped it to 1600 for the last two weeks, and added creatine to my heavy lifting regimen, and gained 3 lbs. I was told this was water weight from the creatine, and not from the diet.…
  • Glad to have you, brother. Keep us posted on your routines/successes/setbacks, and join the July challenge, if you want!
  • Yeah buddy! We are gonna CRUSH July!
  • didn't get a ton of response from the May. I figured it wasn't going to catch on. I'll post my June results, if you want to keep this going, though.
  • For those interested: May 1st, 9:15am, 2013: CapnDonkey SW: 318.5 Neck: 20" Waist: 51" Chest" 64" Bicep: 19.5" June 1st, 8:45 am 2013: CapnDonkey Weight: 308.5 Neck: 18" Waist: 48" Chest" 62" Bicep: 18.5" only 10 lbs lost, but they're 10 lbs I don't want to see again!
  • I go to a small non-chain gym by my job and everyone else in the nearby office parks has got to be at their offices by 8am. (I go in at 9.) When my co-worker and I get to the gym at 7:30 to start our hour, it is DEAD. one or two seniors, and maybe a high school kid or two, but I have never seen more than 6 people total…
  • Welcome aboard, brother! No matter what you have to do, or how slowly you have to do it, Forward is the only direction to go. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress!
  • How's it going, gang? Thread's been pretty quiet lately. Lost another couple pounds and I'm now only 9 lbs away from being under 300lbs for the first time in 10 years. Can't wait. Even got a massive shoulder workout on Memorial Day, and didn't let myself binge eat. Drink? yes. I did drink too much, but I (stupidly) made up…
  • Of course you're welcome here! Please feel free to share in the discussions, share your workouts and whatever else comes to mind!
