It happens because the body has no more carbs to burn and starts to burn protein, it will happen after particularly hard runs for instance. Everybody has this smell, which is indeed amonia, emanating from them after working out, however, it varies in degrees of strength. One way to try to prevent the smell is to take on…

No, the Polar FT4 is not crap. It measures HR, it gives the calorie burn, it tells you your max HR and average HR during a cardio workout, it will tell you how long you were in the zone for (which contrary to what many will say, does have a time and place during certain training regimes) and it will also act as a…

Personally, I would build up gradually and then enter for a half rather than rush everything and risk overtraining. Running can be notorious for overtraining, in my view it is just not worth the risk.

The strap is the bit with the sensors in, the receiver clips onto the strap, the watch picks up the info from the receiver. I am not aware of any app that is available that can do any of that to be honest.

Wilsoje, the OP is on about a full marathon. I fully agree with your posting though.
-
I have to say OP, I totally agree with the other replies on here re that it is too much too soon, I so hope you recover from your injury asap. As a soppy example, I have been involved in athletics for many years, but it is only the last few years that I have started to run longer distances and only the last 20 months, that…

you don't put on weight by eating too little, it is against the laws of physics.
-
lol you didn't read that article did you. On 900 calories you will lose weight, you are miscalculating your intake.
-
Watch the smooth kind though, it has transfats in. The crunchy stuff is ok, still calorie dense though or I would eat tons of it.
-
   You often think of that thread too eh

Yes, if you do go that route, you best ensure you build up distance gradually and I really do mean gradually. So many people try to run what they were running in their other shoes and then wonder why their legs are completely done in afterwards. Only start off with a very, very small distance and work up in small steps, if…

I see some *kitten*, however, managed to steal the final bit of glory from Kipsang though. By gatecrashing that final sprint and going through the tape first, that is something that cannot be undone. I hope they caught the wipe and arrested him. One big publicity stunt for his seedy little business, makes me sick.

Personally, I have found my weightloss is inhibited if I do NOT exercise.
-
Providing you are eating less than you burn, you will lose weight. Well done on your running, regarding the distance you are running, you could always measure the course on Gmapspedometer http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ or Mapmyrun http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/create/

I am so sorry that has happened to you, it is so disappointing, but please don't give up. Really keeping fingers crossed for you that something crops up very soon.
-
Exactly! Dang, I would be happy to be able to run ONE mile at that pace, let alone keep going for 26.2 miles at that speed!
-
I replace mine every 500 miles, that is what was advised to me by the shop I bought them at, they are a specialist running shop. Every training session, I write into a diary the session and details, time, distance etc etc etc and keep a running total of the mileage in the shoes. I have four pairs and rotate three of them,…

That is an absolutely terrific opportunity for somebody OP!! I saw further on in this thread that you have now hired somebody. I sincerely hope they give it their all and do well, you 100% deserve a good employee, because you are fair :flowerforyou:
-
Really? There is a word for that and it is not very complimentary to you! I am glad you are not my boss, because if that is your attitude, then God help us all.
-
Yes, this is exactly what worries me on some threads, this one included. That's why I get so het up at them. It is irresponsible :(

Give over, one or two excuses for a couple of those people, but ALL of them??? First impressions are important during a job interview, that is one of the very first things that is advised regarding interviews. Wearing jeans is not acceptable and please don't tell me that they are the only clothes those people had. You were…

In that case, this whole thread is even more of a joke because absolutely nothing is truth from the beginning

and the bolded bit above really caps it for me. OP do you know how dangerous taking Ibuprofen whilst running is? It can do your kidneys in. Taking Ibuprofen whilst running will take away any pain, but that pain may be there for a reason, you numbing it will not stop the actual injury. I cannot believe this, it is totally…

Yeah, course you are. c25k to Ultra Runner in 14 weeks - you have been running for five minutes and think you can conquer the world and also think everybdy who has been running for years and years and is advising against this is wrong. Says it all really. That plan is an absolute recipe for disaster, why are you rushing to…

You know, the very first thought that came to my mind when I read your post was - "she is training, not been injured, is doing so well and it would be a damn shame if she upped the training only for niggly little aches, pains or God forbid an injury to suddenly develop" Turn the whole thing around, tell your friend that…

The beauty of the first one is, that whatever time you do, it will be a PB!

Grate some cheese and put it into the measuring cup, make a note of what the calories should be. Now weight that same amount of grated cheese and make a note of what the calories are. You might find there is a difference there. Not a problem if the food in question being measured in the cup is low calorie, such as salad…

Well my dear, it is kind of hard to get back home when I have run UPHILL to get to where I am going and now have to return, know what I mean? I run on the roads, I train on the roads, I do not run uphill all the way and do just that LOL
