  • Born and live in the US; Spanish, Taiwanese, and Polish descent.
  • Eating disorders can have an underlying cause like anxiety. Anxiety also can cause chest pain, a rapidly beating heart, and all kinds of other physical symptoms. The doctor can help figure out if it is something much less threatening than heart damage. The thing is, you won't know until you go. You sound very brave to be…
  • Medical Interpreter and Research Assistant at a female pelvic med specialty office!
  • Crazy Cat Ladies FTW! I have 3 Fur-Babies that run my household and I wouldn't have it any other way. Weston (my grumpy old man), Athena (who follows me around and talks to me when I am in the shower) and Hallowe'en (the Mischevious Food-driven Stinker).
  • I have had the same problem all my life and only recently have I finally figured out what works for me. I have chronic idiopathic constipation, which basically means I'm constipated despite drinking plenty of water, getting enough exercise, and ingesting good amounts of fiber. Kellogs All Bran Buds (2 servings per day, on…

  • I love Kellog's All Bran Buds (two servings for 2/3 cup total) and a cup of Almond Milk, unsweetened. It is 200 calories total, makes me feel nice and full, lots of energy, and keeps me regular. :-)
  • Now, keep in mind that I am not male but when my husband and I spoke with the doctors about weight loss, they counseled us both that 1-2 lbs per week was healthy, and not to try and push it above the 2 lb per week mark just because it isn't sustainable or healthy in the long-term. Good luck!
  • Their mother must have been a hamster.
  • Lisa, I purchase wheat litter at our local grocery store called Meijer, or it is at any of the pet store places, and the corn stuff is good as well. I think the most well-known is World's Best Cat Litter. Let us know how it goes for you!
  • I add 1/2 tbsp of honey and a cup of unsweetened frozen mixed berries to hot oatmeal. The honey is just enough to sweeten it a touch and the mixed berries melt as you mix them into the hot oatmeal and the resulting juices kind of turn into a sweet syrup... It's delicious.
  • I also have three cats and use Tidy Cats. The cats and I have all been quite pleased with it, although if you want something natural, the wheat litter is FABULOUS as well. It is a little more expensive, but it is flush-able in small amounts (I recommend scooping twice a day and flushing with each clump).
  • And this is why I'm a feminist. Sorry this had to happen to you - I know it sucks.
  • A trick my friend used (and lost 60 lbs doing it) during her divorce and subsequent weight loss was, when she felt emotional (either relief, despair, joy, confusion, whatever) she would drink an 8 ounce glass of water and go for a walk. Even if it was just a quick 5-minute walk. Then, if she was still truly hungry, she…
  • Absolutely not. Talk to your OB/GYN, and they will have a good recommendation for a nutritionist as well. Make regular appointments with them throughout the pregnancy but weight loss during pregnancy, ESPECIALLY 8 lbs a month, is incredibly unsafe.
  • My husband has been an amazing father to my daughter. He is always so supportive of me, and helps me see the best in myself when I can't. He is very intelligent and challenges me to think outside of myself and is never condescending or rude. His sense of humor is irreverent and sharp, but he is such a patient, kind person.…
  • We mix red quinoa and black beans with beef stock, then crumble it over a couple of tortilla chips as a great ground beef substitute. We also mix red quinoa with chopped sweet potatoes and lentils (any color) with curry for a great Indian-inspired dish. Honestly, quinoa is a very versatile, nutritious, filling meal.
  • I don't really have a goal weight right now. I have small weight loss goals of 10 lbs at a time that I meet, and I set larger "big" goals in 30 lb increments. I will have had to lose a total of 95 lbs (I've lost 35 so far) to hit my "optimal" BMI, but I am having a hard time conceptualizing that much weight loss so I am…
  • I have the same problem. I speak American Standard and have a career where I speak to people on the phone quite a bit, then meet them in person. When I meet them in person, they are frequently surprised by what I look like because I don't look how I sound, whatever that means. I'm Polish, Spanish, and Taiwanese. Born and…
