Hello All, I'm a little late to join this party. I need accountability also. My name is Shari, I'll be 50 in a few weeks, and I live in Ohio. I need to lose about 105# A couple of years ago I lost over 100# (about 50# from goal). I had some health issues and some very stressful events in my life and I have gained half of…

Why would whether they have had surgery affect what you would give them as a wedding gift? They still need kitchen tools, they still cook, they still eat - just smaller quantities.

I really have no suggestions for exercise for you. I believe I am in a similar condition. I have a lot of joint pain and develop tendonitis and sprains very easily. Arthritis class in a heated therapy pool has helped me. I don't know about the health care system in Canada, but I would look into a second opinion from a…

I was asked the other day what I did with the other woman that used to share my clothes, because I'd lost enough weight for a whole person.

Wet hair, your skin absorbs a small amount of water, and different clothing. All tiny additions that add up...

This was the key for me. I am almost 50, and I have been morbidly obese all of my adult life (at one point I weighed almost 400#). I've tried to lose weight more times than I can count. When I realized that bag of chips or that doughnut was slowly killing me, I started losing weight. To me, eating "junk" was like taking…

Popping Tums all the time is bad for you also. The calcium carbonate in Tums temporarily reduces the acid, but then your body overcompensates and produces more acid. Taking Tums leads to needing Tums... (Not to mention all the added calories in the form of sugar to make that chalk palatable.) I have severe reflux that was…

Sue, Excellent reply to MyFoodGod. I'm sure I would not have been as polite. I am an addiction counselor, as well as a recovering alcoholic and food addict. I think OA is a wonderful program, but it is not for me. And that is because of the controlling, single-mindedness of most participants. We all took different paths to…

My rewards and the amount lost for each one: 5# Scale - to track my weight loss 25# Kindle - so I could read on the treadmill 50# HR Monitor - to track how many calories I was burning 75# Adjustable Dumbbells 100# Olympic Weight set 125# New Running shoes I have not decided what my reward for 150# will be. But I have time…

I have the One Touch Ultra Mini, and my meter consistently reads 10 points higher than the doctors tests. We tested it against a lab run test and their meter in the office, all run on the same sample. Their tests match and mine was 10 points higher. We tested it two different times with the same results. What kind of…

I had over 310 days. HAD!!! Then had surgery followed by a stomach virus and failed to log in. I was heart broken I lost my streak!

My "why" has changed over time. I started out wanting to be healthier and reduce my blood sugar levels, with the anticipation I would lose some weight. However, when my blood sugar levels improved, I had also lost 50bs. More than I had been able to lose in the past. So I set another goal; lose Xlbs by a specific date. When…

In April I was diagnosed with high cholesterol, high triglycerides and pre-diabetic. Reducing the total number of carbs I eat, decreasing saturated fats, increasing unsaturated fats, and increasing exercise, I reversed my numbers to normal in 3 months. I don't remember the actual numbers (and too tired and lazy to look…

- You can do whatever you set your mind to do! - Do not despise the day of small beginnings; just a little effort can go a long way. - Don't be so passive! - Believe in yourself, even if no one else does! However, if I "learned" these things at 15, I would not be the woman I am today.

Bell Peppers, any color. Do not like me, and neither does anyone else if I eat them!

Too funny! I had the same conversation with my mother when my now 27 year old son was 3. Now, neither one of says the word actually very often. :blushing:

I started losing in April. As of Friday, I'd lost 109 lbs in 33 weeks (7.5 months)

I figured she must be a Dane or Mastiff. I'm sure she is beautiful!

OMG! What kind of dog and just how big is he/she?

I second the recommendation to watch Craigslist. I found a very nice (barely used) 300# olympic set with incline/decline bench and power rack for $150. The bench alone was almost $150 new. Be patient and you'll find a good used set.

Thank you!

Do you make this at home? If yes, please share your recipes. I have not found one I am completely happy with...

I've learned portion control over the last nine months. I weigh and measure out a portion and am good to go. But there are some things that I obsess about want additional portions until it is gone. Pistachios Salt & Vinegar Almonds Cornbread Before... Anything salty - chips, nuts, crackers, or sweet - cookies, cake, pies...

Personally, I believe such a chart is asking for injury. Attempting to begin squatting (untrained) at the weights suggested is ridiculous. It will take most people new to weight lifting several attempts with light weights to get form dialed in. As has already been said - Form is king! Start light, dial in your form, and…

Thank you ladies! That is the information I needed to make the purchase.

Bump... Can anyone tell me if Strong Curves is a complete program or a lower body only program?

Not weird or unusual. When I was WELL over 300# (weighed 380 at my highest) I did not see my self as super-morbidly obese. However, now that I have lost 100# and I am the smallest I have been in almost 25 years - I still see my self as morbidly obese. I know I suffer from Body Dysmorphic Syndrome. I will depend on my…

And to make matters even more confusing - a scoop, by weight, is level for some companies, while for others it is a heaping scoop. Always weigh or you could be getting more or less calories and protein than you think. I use the scoop (or a spoon if I haven't unburied the scoop yet) and pour the powder into the blender…
