I'm wearing the UK size 12 jeans that I bought months ago to inspire me! I didn't think they'd fit yet but they do.......yay!!!!

I was looking to get down to 151lb, I joined in a "10lb by Christmas" group at the end of October. It was all going well until last week when I broke a toe and now I can't exercise until January. I kind of rely on cardio to keep my deficit healthy so I'm finding it hard. I think I'll get close but won't quite make it,…

You have no idea because you're a boy! People will just think you're fat, no one will think you're pregnant.

Granola. I love Sainsbury's strawberry granola, a portion is 50g and when I weighed my bowl it contained about 150g. With the milk that came to about 800 calories. When I weighed out the 50g the portion hardly seemed worthwhile so I gave up eating it. I do sometimes have 20g scattered over a plain yoghurt with a teaspoon…

This is such a dreadful thing to say! One, it's not anyone else's business and two, you don't know their personal situtaion. After a healthy, trouble free first pregnancy I was unfortunate enough to have three miscarriages, all at about 14 to 16 weeks, so not obvious to most people. Close friends and family knew but you…

I never ask if someone is pregnant, even if it's obvious, I think it's really rude to comment. A girl we worked with was keeping her pregnancy a "secret" and finally fessed up at 7 months thinking we hadn't noticed.

I usually tip out the whole container and weigh the block of ice cream, you then know how much 500ml weighs (or whatever tge weight is) and then you can weigh your portion of ice cream and work out the calories. Remember to write down the numbers somewhere though otherwise you have to keep on doing it!

I am loving these arm before and afters! Even when I was very slim in my teens and 20s my upper arms were out of proportion to the rest of me, I have always hated my upper arms. I have often had to buy a bigger shirt or jacket to fit them in. Now I have some hope that, with exercise (I do dumbell flies for my arms, pecs…

This one surprised me too - really thick chocolate and sugary, creamy goo. I thought it would be more than that. However, I don't buy them in 12 packs any more, just one at a time :blushing:

Woo-hoo!

No, I suspect this is not the case. I think I'm going with your own answer - that greed is less socially acceptable, they are more physically active and the most commonly eaten foods are lower in fat and/or calories. OR they have discovered fat-melting magic fairy dust and are refusing to share with the rest of the world!!

I agree with this, what I don't agree with is the often touted view that weight loss will reverse - just bonkers!

Me for one. Having watched my friend's daughter starve herself to almost skin and bone over a period of about a year I would say that there was no point when this poor little soul was "in starvation mode", "turning all the calories into fat" or "skinny fat". If it was something that truelly occurs then famine in third…

Yay! Can I come too? Sounds like fun :-)
-
Me too. Granola is the only cereal I like, when I weighed out the 50g (I think?) portion it was so tiny compared to my old portion size that I didn't bother, it hardly seemed worthwhile. One day I might bpe able to indulge again :-)

This is so true! If I go home then there's always a million other things that I need to do.

Definitely muffins for one, a nice, harmless blueberry muffin (one of my five a day you may think?), bought from the supermarket not a handmade artisan one (http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=273369554) and it had 455 calories. Faints in shock!! What?? It was four bites, almost 114 calories a bite! Even so,…

I have two boys who have grown up being fed a combination of fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meat, cheese, yoghurts, home made bread, lots of baked goods with appropriate frosting, occasional fast food and chocolates and sweets. They are now tall, strong young men who have never been overweight and can make their own…

Northern lights - don't mind where I see them from but Iceland is probably the best bet from here. Australia, too big to do in a lifetime of visits, California and Sweden. Now, just off to buy a lottery ticket!

I am just over 5'5", have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for 12 years and have been well controlled for about ten. I eat 1200 - 1400 calories per day to lose 0.5 - 0.75kg per week, in addition I eat back about half of my exercise calories. Before my thyroid stopped working I would have lost about 1kg a week on this…

Noooo! I've broken a toe on my right foot and I'm not allowed to run till next month!! :brokenheart:
-
You can do this! I am 58 and have been on thyroid medication for about 12 years, I find losing weight a struggle but it can be done. Your daily calorie limit seems a little high, I'm 5'5", currently set to a 2lb a week weight loss and I'm allowed 1200 calories a day. Check your settings just to make sure. If you're really…

OK, I've looked at your diary and it seems fine to me. Have you set your profile to lose 2lb a week? If you are worried about socialising over Christmas you could cut this to 1lb a week until the holidays are over and that will give you more calories to play with. You could perhaps do a bit more exercise (this has been the…

Try doing leg exercises and squats etc to strengthen the muscles around the knee. I had exactly the same trouble, I was 84kg (around 185lb) when I started the C25K in June, I thought that I would have to give up because my knees and ankles hurt so much. I cut back so I was only running alternate days and I ran slowly, it…

Your hair is lovely! But whether or not you cut it is entirely up to you. There comes a time with very long hair when it just starts to annoy you, with some people that happens in their teens, with others it doesn't happen at all. I had my long hair cut off in my late 20s when I just got fed up with drying it for 40…

This sounds like a good plan to me! Pass the Ben and Jerry's please

When I started exercising in the summer I was 83kg I am now 69kg and I have to work a lot harder to get the same burn. On the other hand, now I'm lighter it's easier to work harder!

Tap "groups", search on UK. There's loads of us! Not sure I qualify as a girly still though:wink: but there's lots that do!

If you have access to a cheap gym then i'd use it. Even if it's a very limited selection they'll have motorised treadmills and probably ellipticals. I joined a hotel gym and it's pretty good although it does get busy at weekends, but better than trying to walk in the wind and pouring rain.
