Umm.. no? I pretty much feel the exact opposite. "Look! I had that candy bar and still met all my goals! Now I don't want candy anymore :-)." I also try to remember how the food made me feel. For instance, I had one of my favorite meals from Pei Wei due to not looking at the nutritional value right. I loved the taste, but…

You're not too old. My inspiration is a woman in her late 50s who started running about 4 years ago (meaning over 50 when she started). She is now a 2 time Ironman (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) finisher and going for her 3rd.

Yes, C25K made me a runner. It's taken me longer than 9 weeks to get there, but I'm on week 5, day 3 and going strong. I do monthly 5Ks now. My 3rd one will be on September 21. My first one was during week 1. My times are getting faster. I'm really hoping to do this next one in under 45 minutes. When I finish one in 30…

Don't weigh yourself every day. It will depress you. I weigh in once every week and take measurements once every month. Also helps to do the same scale, in the same place, same time of day, and the same clothes on (or lack thereof). I'm dying to know if the scale has moved, since I'm pretty sure it has this week, but I'm…

You have received pretty good responses so far, but I wanted to add one thing. I was stuck on week 4 for 2 weeks until I did my last 5K with a 2x Ironman finisher. She explained that I was going WAAYY too fast to start off, and that I wasn't breathing correctly. I started slowing down and practicing breathing. In through…

OMG yes! I lost 3.75'' from my hips, neck, and waist total, and that has left me smiling for days. I would be doing a serious serious happy dance if I lost 6'' from my waist alone! Congrats!

I have the Fitbit flex and love it. There is another thread with "Fitbit ????" in the title. That should help you a lot. Mine died while on a business trip, and I'm very sad I didn't bring the charger with me. It lasted for over a week though.

I would be very interested in getting this worksheet when it is cleaned up. I don't have much data to go off of. I've only been tracking consistently every single day for 2 weeks now. However, it would be nice to know that I have it or to start off now, so I wouldn't have to do the numbers all at once.

This is great, but 50 lbs in 3 months may be unreasonable. Healthy weight loss is closer to 1-2 pounds per week. 25 pounds in 3 months or 50 pounds in 6 months would be a much more reasonable goal.

Two things: My 5Ks and the vision I have of myself at a healthy weight. Tracking everything has helped a lot. I know if I'm going crazy on carbs or not eating nearly enough protein. I still need to work on my macros, but in the meantime, I'm learning as I go. I'm much better off now than I was 2 months ago. I haven't lost…

I completely disagree with not giving into cravings. I feel so much better budgeting my calories for cravings rather than denying myself. That doesn't mean I give into every craving. I crave carbs and sweets too much, so I try to counter act that by making sure I eat enough protien. I also come up with substitutions…

1. At 6' 0" 222 lbs, with no history of running, what should my MPH be for the Walk and Run portions of the program? I'm 5'5'' at 232 lbs and on week 4, day 2 of the C25K program. I've been stuck there for 3 workouts, but that's another story. I was already walking 2.4 miles when I started the program in 40 minutes. I set…

When you gave us a list of what you normally eat, you had it listed in cups for some things and grams for others. Are you measuring everything in grams? TBSP and cups are used for liquids, not solids. There is a youtube video that explains how you can accurately measure something in a cup or a tablespoon and still go over…

I agree that weighing a dumbell is probably the best way to tell if your scale is accurate. If you are really that worried about your BMI, it might be worth your money to get it professionally measured with skin pinchers (I can't remember the exact name) or some other item. The point here is that your weight is going to…

I didn't jump into this overnight. I made a new year's resolution to work out for 30 minutes 3x a week. I met that goal in July. JULY!!! Seven months. I'm still not doing it every single week either, but when I travel, my workout gear goes with me. No ifs, ands, or buts. Then I started tracking my food one meal. Then two…

I was hoping you were in your third repeat of a workout :). I'm on my fourth attempt of Week 4, Day 2. I may have to take your advice about "do exercise in the morning before your brain figures out what you are doing". I changed up my music mix, and that helped a lot. However, I still can't get through the last 3 minutes…

Yep. My day was Sunday, but I just got right back to tracking.

Running currently. Zumba, tennis, and yoga are former loves that will probably come back.

I've been stuck on Week 4, day 2 for 3 workouts now. At first I thought it was because I took 3 days off (I know that isn't good for me personally), but now I'm still hitting a wall. Finally, with my cross training, I'm at least not so out of breath. I haven't been able to push through past the last 3 minutes of running…

If you really want to stop drinking diet sodas (or any variation thereof), either start weening off of them or quit cold turkey. My summer trip to Paris, France last year had an added benefit of not having cheap regular access to diet sodas. After a week over there, I came back to the states and couldn't drink the stuff.…

I use steamed edamame in the pods with grinded sea salt for my fix. It doesn't help with the salsa craving, but it definitely helps with something to munch on and that's salty. I also like popcorn in the mini bags, but they usually don't have enough salt to replace tortilla chips. Although I will say, I quite enjoy going…

I originally had my calorie goal set somewhere around 1750. I thought that was a little low, but I tried to stick with it. It was hard some days. Not that I was starving, but I was really missing a few more calories. Then I read one of the threads that said that MFP says that a sedentary lifestyle is basically a desk job.…

Wow. Sounds like you've had a lot of tragedy happen in a very short period of time. I'm back on here again after being gone for months, heavier than ever. My food journal is open to friends. Feel free to add me :).

What I can't get over is how different your body language is in the second picture compared to the first one. You look so much happier!!! Congrats :). Thanks for driving the point home about using pictures. I'm just starting on this life long journey. Got off track, and now I'm back with a vengence.

I've started this too! I finished week 1 last week. This week I am behind, but week 2, day 1 is tonight. Looking forward to it!
-
I would love to add you! My diary is friends only though. I am very dedicated this time. My jogging/running is helping a lot. I've got about 100 lbs to lose at least. It may be more depending on how I look and feel once I get closer to my goal.

I did my first 5K on July 13 without the couch25K app. My goal was to finish. I had already been walking 2.4 miles in 40 minutes, so I was pretty confident I could finish in 1 hour and 15 minutes (last finisher of the previous year). I'm in Texas, so I knew it would be hot, but I wanted to do it. I trained very little. I…
