I still think Chrono Trigger is one of the most fun games I"ve ever played. I bought the PS version with the New Game + combined with FFIII... but I never played FFIII. But I've played Chrono Trigger more than any one game. That and Mario RPG. Damn that game was so much fun.

I do good until... Even a little bit of alcohol gives me the worst case of munchies.

Hey, I just wanted to chime in so you don't make the same mistake I made. When I originally started my weight loss, I did it solely through cardio and dieting without any resistance training of any kind. When I had lost 50 lbs and then started weight training I realized I had lost a ton of strength and was still showing as…

I do other things besides running on the treadmill when I go to the gym - primarily rock climbing. But all of it boils down to two things - 1) a feeling of wellness afterwards and 2) mastery - feeling like I've accomplished something. A day spent hiking or mountain biking in the Sierra Nevadas will kill any bad mood…

Type of fat matters too. Peanut butter has 12 g of poly- and mono-unsaturated fats while having only 3g of saturated fat. Poly and mono fats reduce LDL cholesterol and symptoms of heart related problems while saturated fats increase the chances for those symptoms.

I'm just gonna tell them if they just chug 1 gallon of milk the weight comes off instantly.

... Beyonce had the greatest music video of all time OF ALL TIME. *shrug*

The rudest thing anyone ever said came from my parents and extended family. They would just say, "Hey... you're fat! Go to the gym." Of course, diabetes also runs in the family so I suppose the rudeness stemmed from the fact that I was approaching morbid obesity.

I don't feel particularly great after having lost a lot of weight (I still have some left to lose). Whatever problems existed prior are still there, but I do know that I never, ever want to be that weight again (unless its all muscle). The other day, I was looking through some old pictures and it was disgusting how fat I…

HIIT requires that you get your heart rate way up passed what solid state running would normally do. Instead of 60-70% of Max Heart Rate, HIIT generally pushes you towards 80-90% of MHR. Obviously, this'll be different for every person depending on their fitness level but you might wanna find a way to guage your heart rate…

I'm not sure what kind of interval training you're doing so I can't be for sure, but you might want to break it down into its components. For example, I run at 9.5 MPH for 1 minute and then walk at 4 MPH for 1 minute. I go back and forth for 30 min. So, on MFP, I log it as 15 min @ 9.5 MPH and 15 min @ 4 MPH. This only…

I don't use the TDEE method. Instead, I start with BMR and add exercise calories, specifically cardio calories. Calories burned from strength training are negligible so only cardio calories added. The rest of it I don't bother with and if it ends up helping me then it's a nice extra bonus at the end of the week when I…

1. Water can help alleviate boredom 2. What you've described is exactly why I keep sugar-free gum at my desk. Just having something in my mouth usually fakes the feeling of eating enough when those boredom cravings kick in. 3. Pack healthy snacks.

Indian recipes are really hard to calculate calories for because there are so many ingredients so approximations are going to be made. They do have a lot of Indian foods in the database but those are very much approximations since size can vary for a lot of things (paratha, samosa, etc.) You really just have to break down…

Thanks everyone! I don't really have too many of these so it's nice to finally have a story to share.

SezxyStef - Really appreciate you breaking that down for me. Thanks!

What do people think about lifting your toes when your coming up to prevent lean?

Phrick & SezxyStef - Can you tell me what your workouts are like and what you put as your activity factor when you figured out your TDEE?

Great tips all! Subscribing to this I've heard from others that strengthening the hip muscles through sitting down and doing butterfly, lunges, adducting/abducting, can help with squats. I have a real problem with keeping my knees apart and all these things with squat form will help later on with greater weight.

Yeah... I've been celibate for 24 years now.

Really good full suspension bikes can't be got for anything less than $1K so you might be better off finding a good hardtail (front suspension only). I've ridden both and for a starter bike, the hardtail is a better investment. For your height, 29ers are better. Also, in my experience in Northern Californai where the…

I've definitely experienced this. Generally, immediately after lifting I'm not hungry but the day after it goes up quite a bit and then now that it's a routine, I think my baseline has definitely gone up. Thanks for all the replies, by the way. Hopefully my body will get used to it and not be so ravenous all the time.

Just ran a Color Run 5K a few weeks ago and came in just under 30 minutes.

I started Stronglifts about a month ago and kept increasing weights on squats, starting from the empty bar. Just recently, though, I realized that my knees were buckling inward on even 50 lbs of weight. Those technical errors can really hurt you later on. So I decided I'm not gonna increase weight on the squats for a…

People have mentioned that I need to eat more, but I've experimented with upping calories and that just simply increases my weight week on week. So it seems that lifting on a caloric deficit doesn't necessarily increase your metabolism but my hope is to target the fat specifically for loss at the deficit. The hunger has…

Create layers in your purse/bag. Put the alcohol in the bottom layer. Put a few *kitten* on the top layer. I guarantee they won't spend too much time searching your bag. And yes, I have had friends do this with great success.

I saw a TV ad for PF where they specifically said, "It's not a gym. It's Planet Fitness." So they are clearly trying to create something some other exercise niche place that people don't associate with a gym.

I've recently put this technique to good use. Try breathing on the same foot. Ex. Breathe in on the left foot, right foot. Then breathe out on the left foot again. From a physical perspective, this has made it much easier for me to longer distances and faster but it also distracts the mind because you're focused on…

Antidepressants are kind of a crap shoot. What works/has side effects for one person can have the opposite, nothing, or something wildly different for others. What I have seen, however, is that if you count your calories very carefully, you should be fine. I have been on a variety of anti-depressants while using MFP and…

This is the way I lost 50 lbs. It's definitely viable and adds some flexibility, especially since I don't always eat on a routine.
