I guess we all do things we don't like. I, personally, try to make those things at least tolerable. As you age (I'm 68) you wind up having to do even more things that you don't want to. So, you have to assess the alternative and make a decision. That's just life. Is exercise necessary---No. Is exercise good for your…

Niner--I'm with you. The Blue Zones are all areas that control their meat intake. Eating meat 2-3 times a week is the norm there. They are healthier. Once diabetes is in place perhaps keto is the way, but better not to go there.

That's what happens when you're not eating enough. Rethink your program--it's not for you.

Well, moving more is good, but if you really want to lose weight you'll need to stay within a daily calorie budget. Most of us calorie count to do that. You need a digital food scale and start weighing and measuring all food and drink. What have you got to lose? A calorie deficit is what you need. Otherwise you risk being…

Well Niner, I live in Italy and we're eating Mediterranean. That means meat 2 or at most 3 times a week, and using fish and eggs to fill in. For us it's a healthier option. I agree with Ann that fruits, vegetables, and legumes are important. Let us know how it goes.

Since you are not a newcomer to IF or Keto, I guess I'd ask what you think? What's different this time?

I found lots of entries in the food data base. Look up salmon no skin.

Hon---I hate to say this, but isn't this a rerun? You just had all these mudslides a short time ago.

I'm an American living in Rome, Italy. To be honest, I don't know anyone here with IBS. I had to look it up. However, a friend on MFP asked me to get what information I could to help someone she knows. Throw me a challenge and I become a pitbull. I just returned from a trip to the States. I stayed with friends and their…

Are you using a digital food scale? What are your stats?
-
Your profile says you're male. The minimum daily calorie goal for a male is 1500. How long were you on the treadmill? A 1100 calorie burn is extremely high. What are your stats? PS: No question is considered stupid---we've heard them all.

For how long? What are your stats?

Are you weighing and measuring all these treats? Do they fit into your daily calorie goal? THAT is the question you need to answer. Whether you buy the treats or your BF does, it's you eating them, and if you're over goal, the damage is yours.

Things like vitamins are not in the database. I have a wedge of lemon w my tea every morning. It gives me--1 cal, 1 carb. That'a about as good as it gets. Also, not completely sure, but doesn't boiling destroy Vit C ?

How old are you?
-
I'm also against the idea of "cheat days". Many people that do it ask why they're not losing weight. Some days or on special occasions I go over my calories. I then go right back to my normal habits.

Niner--I'm not sure, but I think this is more of a female thing. I get anxiety too once in a while starting around 5 am usually. It worsened after menopause. I just get up and start exercising because then it will go away.

Everyone is new to the gym at one time. The best thing to do is ask the people that work there to show you some of the machines and how they work. Sometimes there will be a free period for newcomers with a PT. Start watching what other people are doing. It doesn't take long to get the hang of things.

They used to have over a hundred different types of spaghetti. Always al dente. Now the menu has a few pastas (not great) and the usual other things. We were disappointed and haven't been back since. I don't know if the owners have changed. We like "Da Nino" near the Spanish Steps--they have traditional food and it's…

It used to be fantastic. We went there frequently. A year ago they changed their menu and we no longer go there.

Most on here just hit their protein levels and let the rest fall where it may.

I figured that---but one can dream and anticipate Spring. You've got long hard winters. Spring is around the corner----finally.
