  • Ha Ha, elderly mid 40's onwards.....I'm not elderly and I'm 58 LOL...I look after 'elderly people' and they are 80-100
  • I use the recipe function..add all the ingredients & the number of portions it made & hey presto you have the calories for your portion to add to your diary, its a great tool.
  • I think you are just being a bit impatient, you have changed your diet & lost 2lbs...so you are not on a plateau, infact everything is normal...I think you are just expecting too much..you are not obese so you simply cannot expect massive weight losses however many calories you deficit. Keep on with the great job you are…
  • Good for you going swimming, I do too every week..and to be honest I don't think anyone stares ..they are just enjoying themselves...I hated the idea of myself in a cossie at first but now don't give it a thought..who cares what people think.....just have fun..

  • Congratulations on your weight loss. I have to say you have a great looking food diary, I really think you have got this journey worked out. You have a treat if you want one, and don't worry if your calories fall short on the odd day or so, it only becomes a problem if you drop low consistently over a long period. You are…
  • Sorry Hun..but this quote is from your profile...... "If I lost one pound for every time I've tried to lose weight, I would've surpassed my goal years ago." and your regime is the reason why.....
  • Hardly a reason, if you know you are going to work out you can spread the calories over the day..no problem!
  • To get fit, to tone up & look good, to prevent all sorts of diseases that are associated with people who do not exercise but are overweight..need I go on.....
  • nope, up and down depending on what ive eaten and bathroom habits lol
  • Hey..you have done amazing..and I HATE to rain on your parade, but had a quick look at your last weeeks food diary and if its right you are way way undereating for a man.....whilst our bodies can take it for a while if we are 'obese'..hate that word..LOL....I'm afraid that despite your very healthy eating..you are not…
  • Prunes stewed in black tea...works the magic for many of the Pensioners I used to look after. I sometimes use it myself and they taste yummy and do seem to work. For a maintenance prevention for myselfI take oat bran..at least 2 ounces per day..that works well.
  • Wowee..7lbs in one week....fantastic..I've not lost that in 6!!!! Congratulations both of you..and thanks, because I didn't lose so was no help to the team at all..LOL!!
  • Hi Dottie and welcome..we are nice...!!! Well you've made it to the right place to get started..and its all worth it. I'm 58 going on 59....started last year re-educating myself on eating & exercise....my Doctor was very helpful letting the Practice Nurse weigh me each week...that got me started..with a target of 1lb a…
  • Absolutely brilliant, relevant advice...just wish that I too had taken this point of view on board years ago....listen to this OP and you will really begin your journey.
  • Eat little & often, choose lean proteins such as chicken, turkey, add avacado, cheese, heathy salad dressings such as olive oil..these quickly bump your calories up. Also protein shakes are good.
  • Fantastic, you are an inspiration.......keep doing what you are doing..it obviously works......
  • Depends how much you are working out, but in general most people eat half or all their work out calories back because MFP usually factor your deficit in to the calorie total they have given you. If you work out a lot you could end up 'under feeding' your body & not giving your muscles enough energy to use, this becomes…
  • Wow that is fantastic, Well done..you should be so proud of yourself to achieve so much...inspite of the obstacles that life has placed in your way...there are many on here, myself included that need to learn by your example. You rock!!!
  • OK I'm in...OH will think its my normal odd behaviour anyway LOL!!
  • A serving does not have to be the 30 or 40 grams recommended on most UK packets, work out how many calories you want to use for breakfast and then measure your cereal to meet the calories...allowing of course for any additions you are going to make. I have 27gms of old fashioned oats mixed with 30gms of oatbran made with…
  • After years of Yo-Yo dieting by continually trying to give up sugar, then caving in and inge eating I have finally decided to 'give in' and accept that I have a sweet tooth, now, since last July I have substituted fruit for sweets, have occasional low fat chocolate treats such as mousse or dark chocolate and eat natural…
  • Here you go the kingsmill website with nutritional details. 1 slice has about 1/2 a gram of salt in it http://www.kingsmillbread.com/products/bread/seeded
  • In anorexics as also with anyone unable to eat such as terminally ill..they lose weight because the body starts to canibalise the lean tissue/muscle mass of the body...so weight loss or wasting occurs..sadly the heart is also a muscle..which is why many anorexics die of major organ failure. An occasional dip below 1200 or…
  • Ditto this advice, but not because of the starvation mode but because if you don't your baby will also be missing out on its nutrition. Its easy to add extra calories without volume, eating avacados, dairy, more protein etc..but without seeing your diary have no idea what you are actually eating so hard to make suggestions
  • Glycogen in the liver & water
  • Get some exercise in, walking, swimming, going to the gym...then you can have more calories....
