  • SWEET POTATO FRENCH FRIES!! ERMEHGERD!!!11!!1! No, but seriously, I'm a huge fan of sweet potato fries-- slice them up thin enough so they can get crispy (if you like em that way), drizzle a little olive oil, salt, pepper, cumin-- whichever seasonings float your boat... Throw em on a baking sheet and flip halfway through…
  • No amount of bacon could lure me into eating little sleazer's... I do, however, think that I need to find a "healthy" alternative to making it homemade ;)
  • 2 pounds a week is pretty stellar progress, honestly. Anything much higher than that just isn't healthy. Personally, I'm 5' 6", 136 pounds, and I've been hovering anywhere from 133 to 140 for months now... My current MFP goals (calories/macros, etc) have me losing an estimated 1.1lbs/week... Be proud though, you're making…
  • I've had the same issue in the past... It's normal to fluctuate 5 pounds within a single given day, so try not to sweat it! Easier said than done, trust me I know... Have you tried measuring yourself? Muscle weighs more than fat, so it's possible that you're losing inches, despite seeing the weight gain... Best luck!!
  • Just the other day I was told how pushups are my friend if I want to rock it at Tough Mudder. I'm an absolute beginner at push ups (as in, I struggle to even keep a flat back and get all the way to the ground when I'm doing KNEE pushups!) You would think being a woman would give you that little cheat space for getting to…
  • LOVE Fitness blender! I haven't really delved too deeply into their weight training videos (perhaps I should though?) But I love their other videos. It's nice to have that estimated calorie burn range too, as it helps me realize where I'm at as far as effort goes. Personally, I've done German Volume Training in the past…
  • I decided to give up fast food and soda (the latter of which I've only broke on once or twice) upon the 1st of the year. I think giving up "giving up" is an awesome idea, personally. I know it's certainly the biggest habit I wish to break! Case in point, I'm getting back to it for the ??? time after falling off the wagon.…
  • Writing more is definitely on the list of goals for the upcoming month (and beyond)... As far as fitness related goals go, I'd really like to stick to a steady gym schedule, giving it my all. I signed up for Planet Fitness the other day, and had to opt out of going yesterday because I was so painfully sore from my upper…
  • Inches > Pounds (or Stones) any day! And @rabbitjb is completely right when it comes to weight lifting! If you haven't tried it, I highly suggest it... Muscle weighs more than fat, so while the scale may go up, you'll see those inches keep on shredding off... Also, I agree on 960 calories being way too low... If you're…
  • I did 21 Day Fix in the past, and while I must say I was not a fan of the workouts (I loathe cardio, truthfully-- I'd much rather be weightlifting) I certainly saw results. The meal plan was the most challenging-- (I got the videos and everything from a friend-- I had to manually measure out all the foodstuffs) I felt…
  • I agree with the rest of the thread here-- 790 is just in no way, shape, or form, a healthy calorie limit for an active young person! I was at 1200 for the longest time, but even then I would feel famished... I bumped mine up to 1400 recently, as I've become more active and require the extra calories to have that energy to…
  • I'd much rather be talented than famous. Fame is worthless, but talent is where its at. When's the last time you performed a random act of kindness?
  • Not be at work pulling a 10 hour shift (I'd prefer to be sipping a glass of wine and writing, or lounging in my PJs) What drives you?
  • @mangrothian‌ -- If this is truly your first post, then I am impressed... I think my first post was something about trying to figure out how to change my profile picture, or something... xD Seriously though, this is absolutely amazing, and while I sadly don't have anything of helpfulness to contribute other than kind words…
  • I use a tiny bit of Agave Nectar in my coffee and I'm absolutely in love with "Sugar in the Raw" it's all natural cane sugar. I'm personally not a huge fan of Truvia or Stevia-- I like knowing that Sugar in the Raw has less than 3 ingredients.
  • Feel like I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but I'm also a huge fan of C25K. It's a totally free app, and it definitely helped me (someone who is just about as anti-cardio as it gets) go from huffing and wheezing after jogging for 30 seconds, to jogging a full 2 minutes at a moderate pace (6.0 - 7.0 speed) with only…
  • Girl, I'm in the exact same boat. I'm 5 foot 6, and decided once I started cresting 140 that I wanted to try and get back around 120 - 125 (my High School weight). As I started working out more, I noticed that my goal was more based around muscle and inches lost, rather than pounds. Currently I'm at ~135, and hoping to at…
  • Bravo on you for putting this out there and working towards your goal-- you go girl! I'm currently only looking to look approximately 10 pounds (more concerned about muscle growth and endurance at this stage). Luckily good genetics and a high metabolism have managed to keep me at a healthy weight most my life, so while…
  • Would love to connect with a knowledgeable mentor! I'm 5' 6", and approx 134 pounds. My goals don't lie so much with weight loss as they do with strength. I plan on doing Tough Mudder this fall with my boyfriend. Currently my running ability leaves much to be desired, as does my upper body strength (which are the two most…
  • @SueInAz‌ -- Thank you! You do raise a good point-- I downloaded the C25K app, and after looking at Week 1, Day 1, I'll definitely need to continue the C25K until I have a little more experience. @Capt_Apollo‌ -- I was doing a little bit of research, and I think I want to try out the Stronglifts 5x5. It works out a little…
  • @Capt_Apollo‌ -- Would you suggest doing C210K 3 times a week, instead? I understand that this is still only ~6 miles, but I've had really good luck with the C25K app so far, and this would at least prepare me to run at least 6 miles straight. When it comes to weightlifting, should I move to 2 days a week and do primarily…
  • Thanks, @SueInAz‌! I do much prefer weightlifting to cardio or HIIT, but I wasn't sure if I would be sacrificing the "proper" results per se, by going that route as opposed to bodyweight driven HIIT and such. I mean, it makes sense to me that if I were lifting weights, and hence gaining muscle, I would have the strength…
  • It could very well be the battery, if you're using it that often. I know I've had some issues with mine (I've only had it a few months, and I've used it maybe 2 dozen times). But I notice that if I don't wet the strap (at least the rubberized part) it has a really difficult time making a connection. This sucks, because it…
  • Heh, I feel like I'm more built for the shorter bursts of energy. I'm a big fan of weightlifting, but I generally despise cardio. I enjoy biking and all, but I just... don't jog... But the boyfriend wants to do Tough Mudder again, and it really does sound like an exciting experience, so I figured it's a great motivator to…
  • Oh wow, thanks for all the great advice, guys! I'm actually training to do Tough Mudder this fall, which is why I'm so focused on endurance. @DavPul-- Do you know what kind of zone I'd want to be staying within in this case? I guess I should look into that stress test too, to see what my max HR really is. :)
