First of all, lose the diet mentality. You are making a lifestyle change. Which means you need to learn to make your diet (as in what you eat) fit into your lifestyle. If you go out a couple of times a week and eat something heavy, pick up your exercise routine a bit. Or eat lighter (lighter, not starve. NO EXTREMES.) This…

One sweet a day? At least. It's just in how you allot your calories. I joke that I eat super healthy meals so I can have super unhealthy treats. ;)

That reminds me, need to post my low sodium chicken and jojo recipes. Anyway. 3 crushed up hint of salt (or other low sodium cracker/cereal) mixed with 1/2 tablespoon of flour per piece of chicken. Spices of your choice. Spray the chicken pieces with cooking spray. roll in mixture. Lightly spritz the tops with cooking…

What I think? Any supposedly health conscious company who's CEO thinks 'this could kill you, if you can't accept that, we don't want you' doesn't deserve anyone's time, money or anything but a swift kick to the head. But considering the workouts? That might hurt less than the WOD. There are better alternatives that are…

Where is my like button, dammit!

The FDA recommends no more than 2300mgs of sodium per day for most people, but 1500mg for those who are African-American, have high blood pressure or are over 50. I have high blood pressure and I have found almost all processed food has way too much sodium. Worse still, meat (especially chicken breasts) is often 'plumped…

I started out at 320. My last weigh in two months ago, I was at 282. Trying for 200, then reassess after that. I am a stay at home mom/caretaker. My son is medically disabled. Add me if you like. Ironically, I'm also a Dee. ;)

Sincerely? Gender is the last thing I consider when friending someone. I don't even bother to look at anyone's gender unless it's called to my attention. Because it doesn't matter. I want sensible, supportive PEOPLE. I don't care what plumbing they have.

There is not enough like in the world for this thread. Not one of mine, but whenever I use food metaphors, my boyfriend will say 'I love when you talk to me in fat kid.' Now he's on here and lost 15 lbs already. ;)

Real cheese, kale, greek yogurt and almonds.

Thank you. I know the OP didn't mean to imply we were wimps or something equally silly, but her comment did prick a bit of a nerve. I have been hearing people dismiss my pain for 12 years and I don't like to see fibromyalgics do so. The pain needs to be respected. Everybody has different limitations. But I think anyone on…

There is nothing wrong with light workouts. It's a start. Until he loses some weight so that moving isn't so much effort, all he will do is run the risk of hurting himself. Walking, low impact aerobics and yoga are all good exercises for him. Yes, yoga. I was doing beginner's yoga at 320 lbs. Your husband can too.

Acupuncture is for inflammation and pain mostly. My chiropractor used it to clean out my sinuses once (yeah, I know, crazy but it worked) but for weight loss? No, I'm sorry, don't buy that. I got two acupuncture treatments a week for 2 months (I had completely messed up my back and it was so swollen he couldn't adjust me)…

Good for you. I'm glad you find you can do so much and I will admit I envy your ability to do. Even half that would put me into a flare for two weeks. I also have fibro, although I admit it quite readily. There is no reason for us to be ashamed of it. I have finally worked out my routine and I'm happy with it and the…

I have fibromyalgia and severe arthritis in one knee, so my workouts are a bit more sedate than most of yours. I do twenty minutes of yoga every morning and have a two days on, one day off routine of biking for 45 minutes.

I call BS on these. Bananas skins go black faster, but the bananas themselves will stay fresh for a week after purchase. And as for that, WHO KEEPS DAIRY IN THEIR CRISPER DRAWER? Mushrooms and onions I freeze. Bread I refrigerate or freeze. Ketchup, Jams, etc says to refrigerate after opening. So I do. Eggs... At room…

I don't get flu shots, but because my allergies are weirdly sensitive and the last two times I did, I ended up with severe allergic reactions. That's me, I'm not the rule by far. My medically disabled child gets his the first week they're available. PERIOD. He is always kept up on his immunizations and I pretty much get him…

I have itty bitty wrists, thick ankles and shoulders like a defensive lineman. Explain what kind of frame I have then.

The sad part is people still believe in HCG diets... And yeah, if I stopped using lotion, I'd lose weight. Once I found a way to sluice off twenty pounds of dead skin. Gah.

I am an omnivore. I eat mostly white meat because it's cheaper than red meat. I would love to eat more fish, but it is much more expensive than my chicken and pork. I also eat nuts, vegetables, fruit and lots of grains. Like I said, omnivore. Just like my teeth tell me I should be. ;)

Every recipe in my blog is under 500 calories a serving. Including the chicken pot pie one....actually. Wait, no, the fried rice usually comes out a bit more than 500 calories. Sorry. The rest, yes.

Most painkillers don't help with fibromyalgia because it's not an inflammatory disease like arthritis. Hence why they like to give us antidepressants and antipsychotics to try and 'trick' our malfunctioning pain sensors into working properly. It works for some people, but not everybody. Yoga has helped me more than any…

Oh look another insecure internet feminist trying to start ****. Sorry, honey, some of us are not ashamed of being mothers and wives like feminism today tries to tell us to be. I am very proud to be a stay at home mom, even if I didn't choose to be. If I was married, I would not be ashamed of it. Most of us don't define…

My first thought at this title was 'DON'T ANSWER THAT, IT'S A TRAP!' Which basically means I think the answer should be a resounding yes. Because really, men just love a woman who is completely wrapped up in her appearance, constantly asks him loaded questions and criticizes everything about him. Including how he spends…

I don't eat diet food. Processed food as a whole has too much sodium. 'Diet food' has even more, because they have to replace the fat and sugar with something. But here's my usual snacks 30 grams of unsalted roasted almonds - 170 calories 85 grams of peeled baby carrots - 65 grams 1 Snack Sized Reese's Peanut Butter Cup -…

1/4 cup of dry rice is one serving. Which makes about one cup of cooked rice. 1 cup of dry rice is four servings. Make sense?

Note the bolded part. This is my experience with modern feminists. That and ridiculous hypocrisy. Nobody should be encouraged to stay that unhealthily overweight. All it is doing is encouraging obesity in a country already riddled with the problem. It also speaks volumes about her own insecurity and need for attention. I…

I have suffered from chronic insomnia since I was 12 years old. Fibromyalgia made it so I can't sleep properly without medication. First suggestion? No caffeine after noon. I had to cut it out entirely, even with my medication. But give it time to work out of your system. Also, try keeping a set schedule. Try to get up and…

I'm 5'5" and my end goal is 150lbs. If I only make it down to 165lbs, I will be happy. But yes, your goal is more than realistic.
