I took almost a six month break after developing severe non-fibro pain in my left hip. Still having a lot of pain, but I am muscling through it because yoga really did make me feel better. So I am back to doing it every day and easing back into my biking. I'm glad to hear your mother beat cancer and you can concentrate on…

I eat bread every day. I've lost fifty pounds. Try again.

Rice cakes are not food... But peanut butter and bananas? Yay!

Slightly off topic but because I've always wondered, where exactly do we get the whole 'we evolved to eat plants' concept when the only reason we evolved the way we did is because some smart apeman figured out how to get the most of out of kill by getting at the morrow? We only have a big fancy brain because we ate lots of…

That made me lol. But the rest of what was said above me is true. I made everything from scratch almost out of necessity, but I can assure you even if it's 'clean', it isn't always 'healthy'. Nutrients are important, but as was said, what's healthy for one person isn't for another.

You were serious? Damn... Okay, so these muffins I'm making this morning, they call for 1/2 a cup of coconut oil. That's 'clean' and it's organic even. That doesn't make it any less calorific because it's still OIL. I'm substituting plain applesauce to cut calories so I can have more than one. *shakes head at 'clean eating…

This is me. I basically have to make everything from scratch for my low sodium diet for my high blood pressure. I don't do this because I think clean eating is better. I do it because processed food has way more sodium than I'm allowed. So I cook clean, and then I have all those calories and sodium for dessert. ;)

Haha. I knew I spotted a troll. <3

Good article. Nice to see sanity interjected into the weight loss world every once and awhile.

*HISSES AT THE TITLE* Oh yeah, you lose weight on Stupomax. Because you forget to eat. You forget everything. You sit around in a hazy state of fugue and forget to even take the evil medicine. And then there's the 'MAKES EVERYTHING TASTE NASTY' which helps you lose weight because you don't want to eat. And then there's the…

Anything. Which is why I take one portion and then put the rest away.

320 at start and almost 40, check. I also have dropped 50 lbs. My exercise routine is much more sedate than yours, but I have fibromylagia, chronic migraines, arthritis in both my knees and nerve damage in my right hand. You are welcome to add me if you like, but I just wanted to congratulate you as another member of the…

http://lifemadewhole.com/recipes/desserts-treats/chocolate-and-peanut-butter-treat-gluten-free/ and http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/dessert/pie/impossible-pumpkin-pie-cupcakes.html I will never make either again. Because I have zero control when it comes to them...

First off, fat is not your enemy. Full fat yogurt is fine. Also, don't eat your veggies plain. Dip them in sour cream or even better hummus. Use real butter instead of margarine when you cook. Or even better, olive oil. Eat chocolate. Dark chocolate has been shown to have antioxidant properties. Eat nuts, peanutbutter, and…

Hey, it was the first disreputable company that came to mind. ;) See, that? Was incredibly helpful. I can understand the concern, especially considering how many disgestive disorders seem to exist today. And yeah, I voted for labeling. I have no issue with it, I was more curious about the lack of actual information about…

What part unbiased did you miss exactly, hoss? I didn't ask of the company that made them was reputable. They clearly aren't if they're not releasing information readily. I want to know of actual honest to God studies that exist that prove they're bad. Not your political agenda against an obviously unscrupulous company. If…

I am not trying to start a bloodbath, I am genuinely distressed at the total lack of unbiased information. How is anyone supposed to form an educated opinion if the actual facts are so slim? I know, I know, it's the internets. Some of us try. Thanks for the article. I'll give it a look. My skepticism stems from being…

Yay, sanity in the forums. Can this be stickied?

I do not take suppliments. I try to eat as balanced of a diet as possible. You really need to consult your physician, especially pre-op, for suggestions if it is really necessary.

My dinner came in at 513 calories. Homemade egg drop soup (with green onions, spinach and mushrooms in it) and homemade pork fried rice (also full of veggies).
-
I always eat carbs for breakfast. Usually a baked oatmeal with fruit in it. A little bacon on the side because protein is important too. My breakfast usually comes to around 400 calories and fills me up until lunch.
-
Depends on what you define as low calorie. My usual snack come in around 200 calories, so that might not be low enough for you. Nonfat greek yogurt cups (variety of flavors and brands, whatever's on sale and not obscene in sodium) Unsalted almonds Homemade ciabatta bread with Trader Joe's pumpkin butter (so good) A cup of…

First of all, bread is not junk food. Especially whole grain bread. Carbs are not evil. Nor is meat. Or fat. Or sugar. (Or sodium, but I hate to admit that out loud for my own sanity.) Secondly, cleanses and fasts don't work. You should chuck the junk science before you chuck the junk food. It has more substance than these…

The person who comes in asks about a fast or fad diet, then gets upset when they are mocked. Comes back to the forum a week or so later and asks about the fad again or another one. Then gets upset when they are trolled harder.

If you have to ask this question, you have never been obese. Incidentally, running and the gym are not the only options for exercise either....

Did this topic make anyone else want banana bread?

I agree with the played outside everyday. My single mother worked two jobs, but my brother was 13, so he watched us after school and on vacations, with a neighbor around to be a responsible grown up if we needed one. We rode bikes for miles, played on school equipment, yes, there were trips to the convenience store for…

Set aside calories for an afternoon sweet snack. There is no reason to deprive yourself. Just budget for it.

I have been on Citalopram for seven years. I did gain weight, but that was from lifestyle, not the medication. If the medication made it hard to lose weight, I wouldn't have lost 32lbs in four months once I started counting calories and exercising. I have heard about the initial weight gain, but I can assure you that…
