  • Yeah Lent has all kinds of stuff in the middle of it this year. Our Catholic school carnival is smack in the middle of Lent - not sure what they will serve on Friday night this year - normally it's all Filipino food.
  • It depends on how often they see you. If they see you all the time it will take a while. But some folks who haven't seen me since I started this have noticed the 15 lbs. I lost. But I think the reason they notice is where I've lost it. I lose from my face and boobs first, so folks see it in my face. If you've lost gut, it…
  • I am not sure what I will give up. I've basically eliminated diet soda from my diet - only have it once every few days. I need to think of something that will make me either a better or a fitter person.
  • I'm doing it. Today I started week seven. On March 12 I plan to run an entire 5K. I'm 100 lbs overweight (at least) and haven't run for about 15+ years. So yes, it works!
  • That is so fabulous - thank you for sharing! Congratulations!
  • I've also read that you shouldn't lose more than 1% of your body weight per week. So for someone in say the 170's that's less than 2 lbs. per week. But for someone like me that's nearly 3 lbs. per week. Right now I am just seeing how it goes.
  • I am just starting out on the same journey and your pictures are such an inspiration! Congratulations!
  • Awesome! I hope I look that good when I get 1/3 done!
  • That's insane. I have a midway goal picture of myself hanging on my bulletin board. It's when I weighed about 225 or so. My BMI in that picture would be 30-31 as I'm 5'10". There is no way a person that size needs to have gastric bypass surgery of any sort. Granted I still needed to lose weight, but geesh. I have three…
  • I have a teensy tiny livingroom and I do Firm TransFirmer series workouts in it. All the cardio is step/tall box based so you don't need much room to move around.
  • Geesh, I guess I should mention if I'm throwing out a recipe there that you bake the muffins for about 15-20 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
  • My husband does low carb and has lost 50 lbs in the last 4 months or so. For him, it just works the best. The family doesn't do low carb, but I'm a sahm so I cook for him and try to find things that work for everyone. Once a week I make a batch of "egg muffins" - I used 10-12 eggs to a 12-muffin tin. I stir them as if to…
  • I'm in Jacksonville. Putting a mark here so I can come back after school pick up and friend ya!
  • Go here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml Use this plan. I'm currently in the middle of week six. I have over 100 lbs. to lose still. And I've been doing this for six weeks. Last Saturday I ran 2 miles straight and at the beginning I could barely run the minute. I'm burning tons of calories and I'm really…
  • I need to lose (at least) 100 more pounds. Right now I'm easing my way out of Weight Watchers and into straight calorie counting via MFP. I'm doing the Couch to 5K program - I just finished Week Six Day One a few minutes ago. And 2-3 times per week I do a Firm dvd workout to help me tone up and burn more calories.
  • Chocolate Peppermint Stick. They are so good in fact I have to be careful with them. But they are great emergency purse food!
  • I would recommend the Firm dvds. I've been doing the TransFirmer series, and they always have someone in the back who is modifying exercises for beginners. I'm still (at least) 100 lbs. overweight. I do what I can, and I modify and just keep moving for the rest.
  • I'm 5'10" and I'm shooting for 175. I remember being 175 as an adult (before I had my boys) and I felt good and strong there. I'm not aiming to be skinny, and who knows, I may go lower. But right now that sounds like a mighty fine number.
  • I really like early morning workouts - I hate getting up earlier, but I love that I am done. Plus it makes it easier for me to figure out my calories for the day if I know what I've done workout wise.
  • I just canceled my Weight Watchers online membership. It will run til the end of the month. I started up MFP sometime in January and I tracked some sample days on MFP just to see how things compare. For the last couple of weeks I have been double tracking things - and I finally decided today to cancel my WW - we are saving…
  • I've always been told that if the cold is all in your head, it's ok to work out. But if it's in your chest you should take it easy. That said, I ran two miles on Saturday morning and did my Firm DVD today with a pretty nasty head cold and I'm none the worse for it!
  • Just about any combination will work. I've used diet sprite in the past when I didn't want a diet cola to affect the color of the cake.
  • Now that's the kind of (early) Valentine's present I would like. Something that shows that he truly cares and is paying attention to what's important to you. How sweet!
  • I cook the quinoa in chicken broth and then stir in corn kernels at the end. The flavors and textures go really well together.
  • I vote for Firm DVDs. I saw some inexpensive ones at Target the other day that only require dumbbells. I do the SuperCharged Sculpting, which is only 35 minutes, but it requires the TransFirmer or some other sort of tall step for all the tall box climbs.
  • Good shoes are super important. A lot of folks find the right shoes completely get rid of shin splints. You also might look into the book ChiRunning. It has some interesting stuff about form and shin splints. I have a boatload of weight to lose, but I find that with the right shoes, the right form, and lots of stretching I…
  • I've been doing the program for five weeks. In the beginning I didn't do any other exercise. But now I'm doing Firm DVDs as cross-training. I think they help - especially the long stretching sections.
  • I'm 5'10" and started at the first of the year at 286. I'm now down to 278 and I'm shooting for 175. I might re-evaluate that goal once I get there, but I've been heavy for so long and I know I was healthy and strong at that weight in the past so that's what I'm shooting for. I've been doing Weight Watchers, the Couch to…
  • I do not do well on a low-carb diet. My husband does though. He eats mostly leaner meats and veggies - as he gets whatever I fix for dinner minus the starchy stuff. I don't really think you can say all the weight lost is water weight though. He's been doing his plan since mid September and he's lost over 50 lbs. I doubt he…
