Ovo/Lacto means that I eat eggs and diary (mostly cheese, still don't like cow's milk), but no meat. CICO is Calories In/Calories Out - basically the MFP weightloss model.

http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10073617/body-fat-percentage-calculator-accuracy-warning-a-little-nerdy This is a little experiment that I did on body fat calculators and their accuracy. It's a little bit nerdy - as the title suggests, but basically my finding were as follows: The margin of error is very…

My other runs are either 3, 4, or 5 -6 miles and done at between 10:15 and 11:30 pace. I've pushed myself up to a 9:30 pace on a up to 4 miles when running with a group, but I have trouble pushing myself that hard when I'm running alone.

Do you mean quads, inner thigh (groin), or outer thigh (more gluteus medius)? For quads - squats and deadlifts, for back of thigh and butt - good mornings and Romanian deadlifts, and for inner thigh - sumo squats. You can also run up hills. Also, just because everybody will tell you this, so it might as well be gotten out…

I was a vegan for about 10 years, and transitioned back to ovo/lacto. Good luck on your journey. My top picks for cookbooks would be Vegan Planet, Garden of Vegan: How it all Vegan, and La Dolce Vegan. I am very habit oriented, and always have been. So, it was easiest for me to think of shopping for staple ingredients,…

I partied heavily in high school and got over it before I started college, so I've been a teetotaler since about 18. So, I've never had this problem, but I've got lots of friends who have. There was an interesting piece on NPR last month about taking positive steps away from college drinking towards moderation, and there…

But he used the terms "Anabolism", "Protein Synthesis", and "Muscle Glycogen". That seems pretty scientific to me. He also referenced About.com. I'd be curious to see how you could possibly debunk his claims given his use of well developed academic sources and scientific terminology.

Work on core strength, and get a friend who knows something about lifting to help keep you on track with posture and form. Build up slowly and be aware of pains and what you need to do to prevent them. I tweaked by back a couple of times on C&Js until I started working hard on belly breathe and hold to keep tension right…

Thanks for the input guys! I'll see how this weekend treats me. I was considering signing up for a 25K in a couple of weeks, and then going back and forth if my times were not going to be up to snuff. I'm going to run as though I'm still training for it and see how I feel!

Start with a firm handshake. Then maybe just Eskimo rub the beards...and see where it goes from there.

Lots of dog encounters of course. I got stamped at by a buck once on a trail run, and I almost peed myself. I actually hit a goose once on a swim. It was very early in the morning and they were giving zero f**ks about the guy swimming. I figured that they would just move out of my way, but I miscalculated their lack of…

Check out www.ExRx.net. It has lots of templates, workouts, vid caps for instruction on form, and calculators for 1 RM and a bunch of other stuff. You might also start with Strong Lifts 5X5 or the New Rules of Lifting for Women. Never done either of them, but I hear a lot of people on the message boards hype them.

I read an interesting article (though I cannot remember where, maybe on Breaking Muscle?) that higher bodyfat content forces muscles to attach at angles that are more physically advantageous for lifting higher proportions to your bodyweight. Hence, heavyweight and ultra heavyweight oly and power lifters look the way they…

Never ran in Vibrams, but I run in Xero Shoes, and I've put in runs up to 15 miles in them with no problems. As long as you've got the form for minimalist shoes (good forefoot strike), then run in what is comfortable. My wife bought me a pair of zero drop shoes with more cushioning for longer runs, but the extra cushioning…

@siport It's not you, it's your hardware. Good looking guy, but not my type. @ISABELLA2U I think, yes.

@Krizzo87 well, I guess the secret's out. yes.

Plenty of good body weight/HIIT programs floating around out there. If you want to get into more weight lifting I'd recommend something like adjustable weight dumbells to start. I personally have an olympic set and I don't use anything else (no bench, no rack, etc), just the long bar and plates.

I've been lucky in that every time it's hit me I've been close enough to home that I could just penguin walk the rest of the way. I'm not looking forward to the day I'm too far from home, but I know it's coming one day. One. Day.

@FabulousFantasticFifty Build airplanes. For some reason I can only see Rosie the Riveter when I see your profile pic!

@therealblackdahlia Try to sneak a peek while simultaneously staring at my shoes.

I was sick last week with something similar sounding - I had no appetite and lost 5 lbs.
