Why? Any scientific evidence to back this up? Many articles talk about weight loss and bowel movements such as: http://caloriecount.about.com/you-regular-diet-exercise-affect-your-b520953 or http://www.annapolis-nutrition-fitness.com/michaels-blog/170-constipation or…

Oh, one other thing I just thought of....as nasty as it sounds...monitor your bathroom visits, as it is another indicator your body will give you. Darker urine is your body expelling toxins, etc. Lighter urine, you are getting enough water for your body to flush out toxins, etc. And (cover your eyes/ears for those who are…

So many things said, I agree with. I started at 200lbs 2 years ago. With cardio, the fat came off quickly but the weight was slower to show on the scale. Then I got discouraged and stopped. I am back on here hoping to remain motivated. I started at 173lbs 3 months ago. I am currently 164lbs with cardio and strength…

I'm in Alberta, so I'm not sure if you have all the following grocery stores in your area. Here is where I usually head to: T&T Superstore (Rice, Seafood, prepackaged meals like sushi) Walmart (Meats, Frozen Veggies, Sauces) Superstore (bulk items like nuts, frozen veggies, ethnic sauces) Safeway (not cheap!) fresh veggies…

DITTO!!! I use to go for wing night every Thursday. Not so much anymore :brokenheart:

OOOo, and another thing I found...sometimes I'm just NOT in the mood to make my meals so when I go grocery shopping I always purchase a meat lasagna from Blue Menu or Recipe to Riches Butter Chicken lasagna. A quarter of the tray is about 420 calories and the tray is a good size tray. This is the only pre-made meals I will…

Me too. I replaced my potato or pasta in my meals with veggies. I buy frozen veggies so I can get them in bulk so they don't go bad. Also, as mentioned, I cut my alcoholic intake to 1/4 of what I use to drink. Not sure how I feel about that yet. My fast food and restaurant intake has dropped 75%. And since I almost always…

AWE!! So awesome!

All of the haters mean answers aside, I think its okay to ask mfp for gift ideas. You're not asking us to tell you IF your plan is a good idea, you are asking us for more creative ideas. From the suggestions so far, I really like the post-it note idea and the gold coin idea. My suggestion is those little body sprays you…

AWESOME!!! Funny how something so small and random can really get to people. Every time I want to skip a workout I say to myself "Never again" and visualize the pic I took on day 1. Not a pretty sight.

Another big shocker for me, Rosemary. Such a fantastically robust spice: 3g (1 tsp) = 11 calories. Pardon? You can't even get Rosemary on a tsp!

OMGosh! We get Tim Horton donuts frequently at work. I stay far, far away from the evil within :explode:

When I started mfp, my first big shock was the calories in a Costco triangle bun. Not good

THIS!! ^^ By far this! As perverse as this may sound, take a moment and just feel around your body now. Those are your rockin ribs, waist and hips! And the list idea is a great idea as well. Now that you have reached your goal, start from the top of your head and list something positive about everything down to your toes.…

To be honest, the colour of their skin is the first thing that will attract me. Brown guys get me going. Add a strong, powerful beard and a perfectly wrapped turban or peace scarf and I'm drooling. My friends think that's weird but hey...whatchya gonna do?

Great responses everyone! And great question! My proudest moment was yesterday when I RAN on the treadmill...30 MIN speed intervals...with MINIMAL JIGGLE. If you've been an overweight, older chick like me who has had trouble running for 30 seconds because of knee pain and massive jiggling, you know what a great feeling it…

Thank you for the great question! I completely agree with those who state that your body will tell you what the answer is. There will always be science to back up a claim on both sides of the spectrum because (as Cre8veLifeR brilliantly stated) bio-individuality.

And I would most wholeheartedly disagree with this assessment. I once read a post about 6 months ago where a lovely lady was asking how to increase the calories in her meals because she was not reaching her minimum. People jumped on her like nobody's business, flat out asking if she was stupid. On the positive side, there…

I was just about to say this. It may be a food combo plan that your dietician is attempting. I did one many, many years ago where I did not mix my breads/potatoes with my meats in the same meal. A 'new' study had shown that the enzymes that break down bread/grains counteract the enzymes that break down protein and cancel…

I just started back on after being away for 6 months. I was told by two personal trainer friends that one cheat day per week is acceptable. I just completed my first cheat day with no tracking or logging on...which turned into cheat day X 2. Not cool! I think for me personally, cheat days are too hard to keep as one cheat…
