  • Are you entering in the strength training or cardio section? The strength items just log the reps and stuff but doesn't affect the calories. You can use the 'strength training' line in the cardio section to get an estimate of calories though...I know, weird. lol
  • Speaking as someone who would probably fall under the 'uber-religious' category I think you should be honest. Tell her it makes you uncomfortable and ask her to stop. She may continue to pray for you (which is what I would do) but you can't control that. You can control how much she shares with you, though. There is a fine…
  • You should be sooo proud of yourself. I truly believe the hardest thing is to get off your rump (I love that by the way) and get started. You are a rock star! :)
  • Me too, thanks for hosting!
  • All I can share is my perspective. I am not friends with anyone on MFP that I don't know in real life. I agree that a true friend will say congrats at times but will also say 'what are you doing?' or 'are you sure that's healthy?' and that can be hard to hear no matter what. When you don't have the real life connection I…
  • Google 'Couch to 5K', it's an interval training program that starts you off gradually. And no matter what, just getting out and doing it is an accomplishment. I love the poster that says, 'no matter how slow you're going, you're still lapping everyone on the couch!' Good Luck! :)
  • Oh that stinks, I'm so sorry. I'll say a prayer for you that you figure it all out and feel better quickly.
  • I'm sorry about that with the doctor and the endoscopy. The good news is that there really isn't any other treatment besides going gluten-free. I would have been surprised to have an endoscopy so soon actually just because it takes time for your intestines to heal. Did you have blood work as part of your original…
  • If you were just diagnosed with Celiac and went gluten-free, did you doctor explain that many people gain weight initially? The reason is that for however long you had symptoms before you were diagnosed you were eating but your body couldn't digest all the food you were eating and so alot of the nutrients were just passed…
  • Fantastic!!!! Way to go! :)
  • Our instructor told us that Les Mills says you burn an average of 560 calories. I'm still overweight so I created a line for Body Pump and use 500 calories/60 minutes. Knowing that might be a little high, I never eat the full 500 back in a day. That's been working well for me since I started using MFP in the Spring. I've…
  • 1. I Pump 2 times a week usually, occasionally I can sneak in a 3rd but that's more because of my kid's schedule, if I had the time I would definitely take it 3 times every week. 2. I also take Step and Sculpt, spinning, yoga, sometimes TurboKick, I run and I do the weight machines on my own on days that I haven't pumped.…
  • We all are. :) When I started out I was 275 and my nutritionist recommended I eat 1700-1900 calories/day and limit my carbs to 19 servings (one carb serving equals 15-20 carb mg). That was assuming I would exercise most days to create a little larger deficit. Now I'm down to 222 so I eat closer to 1500 calories/day since…
  • You will lose weight as long as the 2010 calories/day creates a deficit when compared to your BMR (the number of calories your body needs just to live). It is an estimate but what did MFP say your BMR is? As long as the 2010 is under that then you should see progress, maybe not in a day or two but over a few weeks. I hope…
  • Look online for Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free Cornbread mix (or any other Gluten-Free cornbread mix but Bob's is very popular and pretty easy to find) Make cornbread according to package. In pan cook one pound Bob evans or Jimmy Dean regular breakfast sausage. Do not drain grease. Once the sausage is cooked add one small…
  • My first advice is to double check with your doctor, he may not want you to change your eating habits before you tests, especially if he might check for gluten/wheat issues. If he says it's cool then the key things you need to avoid are wheat, rye, barley and most oats (oats don't have gluten persay but the way they are…
  • What did you use as your goals and settings when you signed up for MFP? MFP already creates a deficit for you based just on calories to live (BMR). Then if you exercise more they encourage you to eat all/most of those back so that your deficit isn't too low because that can mess up your metabolism. For me, I'm at 1380/day…
  • You go girl! Enjoy some good eats and family time. :)
  • My advice would be don't use just one kind of flour. One of the oddities about gluten-free flours is that they have different densities and consistencies than regular flour. Using just one can tend to give you inconsistent results and leave your baked good with odd flavors. I use a blend of white rice, brown rice, sweet…
  • I am running the Turkey Trot (5K) here in Pittsburgh that morning so my first goal is a new PR. Then I'm hosting Thanksgiving for some family and friends and my second goal is to not overeat just because I ran that morning. ;)
  • 39 pounds is fantastic...don't sell yourself short! I've been on my journey for two years and I've lost 52 pounds. We can't compare our loss to others or be in a race because then we'll get overwhelmed. Celebrate your victory and amazing accomplishment. :) Great job!
  • It won't completely reverse aging and if you've had kids don't get me wrong. It's not like they were when I was 20 but my hubby says they look bigger and I think that's partly b/c they are 'higher'.
  • Work your chest, the real muscles at the sides by your armpits. I have found after a year of lifting weights including chest presses and butterfly's my boobs are sitting higher. :)
  • Heck ya! Have some cake!! Great job and congratulations. :)
  • "Dermatitis herpetiformis, an itchy, stinging, blistering skin rash, occurs when your skin reacts to gluten antibodies circulating in your system. Some people call dermatitis herpetiformis a "gluten rash" or a "celiac disease rash" because it occurs in conjunction with celiac disease." taken from…
  • oooo, do you mix the yogurt and the almond butter? I just started doing that with peanut butter and it is sooooo good. :)
  • You don't have to log that stuff. You set your activity level to active which should be an average of your normal week. I would only log anything you do beyond normal work.
  • What an amazing accomplishment! I am so happy for you that your hard work and dedication are paying off. I agree that if you can't fix what's off in your head then your weight loss will not last. What a great inspiration to everyone!
  • I am not a professional however I would think that anytime you're forcing yourself to purge and/or severely limiting your caloric intake due to guilt then you have an eating disorder. Does it matter what specific one you have? You said you have specific reasons to not seek professional help, then what will you do? Will you…
  • That's awesome!!! Way to go my friend! :)
