  • How you track calories for weight lifting on here?
  • Use clothes and the measuring tape. I am finally doing it the "right way", eating more calories than the recommended 1200 (TDEE -25%) and working out with weights and cardio. Scale fell 17 pounds and then went up 5 but my measuring tape says hips are 2 inches smaller, clothes feel different and hubby is seeing my shape…
  • That's where I am too... I just can't base my life on the scale. I am eating above my BMR and on really hard workout days I eat more. I am weighing once a week just to track my BMR but I am going to be measuring and checking out how my clothes fit.
  • I am terrified to eat back my calories. I still havent figured out the best formula though. I am unsure of MFP as when I put in the settings to lose 2 pounds a week and it said to eat 1200 but my BMR is about 1530. I don't have the answer.
  • Shrimp curry made with almond milk and the stir fry veggies from Costco. 20 Shrimp are like 100 calories, 40 calories per cup of the veggies and 1 entire cup of almond milk is 30 calories... Plus a big green leaf lettuce salad with english cucumber and dressing made with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and balsamic vinegar... I…
  • It's a lifelong commitment so you need to find your balance with it. Weight will fluctuate but it's when your clothes fit you know you are doing something right. Ask yourself if you can work out like you are for the rest of your life? Can you eat like you do for the rest of your life? If no then reevaluate and see what you…
  • I always bbq lots of chicken breasts or turkey burgers so I have something to ready to go.
  • Eating more has helped me more than eating less... After posting on here and getting some good tips I decided to eat at my resting metabolic rate and then exercise. It seems like it's tricking my messed up metabolism and I am losing after putting on 4 pounds eating at a strict 1200 and exercising an hour 5 days a week. I…
  • Hey Richie, thanks for the links to all the websites. It's been helpful and I seeing progress and feel totally full. It's time for me to start hitting the weights again.
  • Why would you be with someone who didn't love you for who you are? Screw him... move on with your life and love yourself for who you are!!!
  • Why would you be with someone who didn't love you for who you are? Screw him... move on with your life and love yourself for who you are!!!
  • Absolutely! Keep moving no matter what you do! When I finally got back to hitting it at the gym I could only do 3 MPH on the treadmill... Yesterday I did 3.9 MPH on hill mode. JUST KEEP MOVING! : )
  • After some experimentation and some helpful advice from someone on here I eat at my resting metabolic rate and kick *kitten* at the gym. I am loosing again after loosing and then gaining at 1200. Obviously as you get thinner it's going to slow down so just keep tracking and see what your body does at different numbers.…
  • This thread is just crazy... The fact that we'd continue to support that processed and refined food can be healthy and continue to justify eating it? Sure, it is about calories to lose weight but wouldn't you want to be healthy? Wouldn't you want to have your kids be healthy leading by example? How about GMO's? Are we…
  • You have to do what you feel is right for you... I do diatomacious earth daily for a parasite cleanse. I will be doing a liver detox I got from a friend where it's basically whole good food minus dairy and meat but I have to have some animal protein when I do it. It involves apple juice and then some calcium citrate.…
  • Big difference. Maintenance was 1655 and and fat loss 1512...
  • I am just using the maintenance thing here on MFP. I have ruined my body so much though I gain, if not exercising, on that much.
  • Thanks... I will check it out. I just calculated my maintenance calories and it's 1930. That scares the hell out of me! It seems like so much but then again I am burning a minimum of 2000 a week in cardio.... I guess I just have to explore how my body reacts to this. I remember the body builders telling me when you have a…
  • I was using Spark People before this and you don't eat more when you exercise... the calories remain the same. I think I will keep it at 1400 for a week or two and then go back to 1200. Richie... that article was great and made so much sense, especially for someone like me who needs to completely reset their metabolism.
  • I have maintained a strict 1200 very healthy and balanced intake but have not eaten my deficient from exercise... I keep it at 1200. My cardio alternates between elliptical, treadmill and this torture machine called mountain trainer. I do a minimum at level 3 random on all and am up to level 6 on the elliptical burning a…
  • Yep... I love this attitude... You just have to keep plugging away and remember this is a life long process. It's about finding a healthy balance.
  • Good for you! Just go into it that it's a mission you are on for the rest of your life. You gotta find the balance in all of it and make it something you can live with in acceptance and joy! : )
  • At my largest I was an 18-20 and smallest a size 6 and they were loose. Now I am about a 12 and finally broke through the food addiction part and am looking at this as a lifestyle and not a diet. I try and focus more on health than weight and make decisions on what to eat looking at the bigger picture instead of in the…
  • I find I am more accountable if I weigh and measure my food. I don't do any grains, except rice, nor dairy. You can really be full on 1200 if you eat lots of veggies and some fruit. I ALWAYS have a huge salad with dinner, carefully measuring my olive oil. I am talking like six cups of green leaf lettuce which is about 32…
  • Type O looking for others
  • Are you guys using any sort of monitor to get a more accurate reading of calorie instead of using the general tracker here or on the machines at the gym?
  • i struggle with the same dilemma. Sometimes I used the extra calories and sometimes I do not. Interested to see what experts would say about it. I used another tracker and it did not give you any extra calories for working out.
  • For me the blood type diet is awesome and so works with my body. The weight loss part I have to track my calories but as far as the foods that are the avoid list are things that make me feel horrible when I eat them. I have to have the vigorous exercise to get my metabolism up (yoga is nice but just doesn't change my body…
  • I think it depends on the store you buy from and what you buy. I live in Kona and Costco is my main source of food. I stick to things under $2 a pound for fruits and veggies. Buying chicken in bulk it works out better. You just have to be practical about all of it. If you don't have a warehouse store just buy on sale and…
