  • Beautiful. And heartfelt congratulations. I'm two months post surgery and just had a real difficult day yesterday and last night, but this helped me put it all into perspective. Many thanks.
  • SW: 227 CW: 221 GW: 200 Hmmm... moving in the right direction but I may have been a bit ambitious with my goal too! You all inspire me though!
  • Wishing you the best, and congrats on your long term loss and maintenance.
  • You should be able to add hummus back soon!
  • Amazing thread. Thank you all for sharing your reality. I am 6 weeks post op and doing well... but not tolerating much of more solid food yet. Good to hear your stories and ease up on my expectations a bit. You are all beautiful and courageous!
  • I'm in... my sons wedding is Nov 1st so focussing on a goal before then is a good thing! CW: 227 GW: 200
  • you use the jello sugar free instant pudding mix, not the gelatin flavors.
  • Hi All, I'm just 5 weeks out from my bypass, and getting started with the support group with the Kane group in the NW suburbs of the Chicago area. Great program so far in all the preparation stages, looking forward to meeting others through the support groups.
  • Just starting in on soft foods the last week or so. Some delicious halibut last night, chewed well, went down nice and was such a treat to have a good flavor! Also tried a ground turkey meatloaf... a little bit was good. Otherwise still counting on shakes, cottage cheese, and greek yogurt.
  • Thanks Joelle for a very honest and real reply. I have found that really hot tea with lemon in it (well after eating) helps calm down and clear things if I have had a "too fast or too much" painful episode.
  • Just for today I will celebrate my birthday with a beautiful walk outside!
  • Yesterday I tried on a ring my husband gave me for our 1st anniversary (13 yrs ago) that hasn't fit for at least 10 years. It fits! And the wedding ring that I had resized larger now sometimes falls off, I've been wearing it on my middle finger.
  • Hi, I've done the bariatric advantage chocolate flavor with water and ice instead of milk some of the time. Also the Unjury Strawberry Sorbet flavor works well with water or crystal light lemonade and ice. The Unjury Chicken Soup flavor can go in mashed potatoes. Hope some of these ideas work! We all want you to be…
  • I'm at 3 1/2 wks post op and just returned to work this Monday. I'm doing well, but definitely missing a nap during the day. Will need to really plan to keep up my walking now that I've added work back in.
  • Yesterday was my first day back to work. With an extended day and an evening meeting... so tired when I got home! But I had packed my yogurt and cottage cheese and protein shake and got in all my water. Now on to the next one...
  • Hi, When I started with the pre-surgery phase I was also a bit overwhelmed with the needed discipline, and my track record of past failures. But I ended up taking each appointment seriously, learning, trying, and changing decisions the majority of the time. I got rid of 20 pounds prior to the surgery, and am now 3 weeks…

  • I too am having trouble with the slowing down part. Just moving from pureed to soft and am having discomfort any time I move away from very liquidy textures. Currently painful and waiting for the pouch to empty a bit. Got to learn!
  • You can check with your pharmacist about if your meds are crushable. One of mine was changed to a capsule so I can empty that out and take the tiny granules. Another one was available in a liquid syrup. The others I have to crush. Besides the flavored protein, I ordered some unflavored protein packets from Unjury.com. I…
  • Just bought it for my Kindle. Thanks for the link!
  • Good for you! Wishing you quick healing. I'm in my third week post op and enjoying my last week off before I go back to work.
  • wishing you the best
  • sugar free popsicles!
  • Congratulations! Rest and healing and moving around soon. 12 days post-op for me and I did a 2 mile walk today (followed by a 1 hr nap!)
  • Hi, I wouldn't take any chances this early after surgery. Call to the Dr. office and ask to speak with the nurse. She will be able to ask the right questions and let you know if you need to come in for an appt. I'm not quite 2 weeks out and every day still feels kind of new to me. Good luck!
  • Good to know. I had my hair done just a few weeks before surgery, but that 6 week window comes around quick!
  • Kudos to all of you who are at the beginning of the pre-surgery process. I kept my ongoing notebook for all of the appointments and tests and milestones (approvals!) that happen along the way. I was a little apprehensive to start, but with each step through the process I felt more and more sure of my decision. Now a week…

  • Just a little over a week out of surgery. Really not near the pain I was expecting. Still working to get all the liquids in but doing better. The sugar free popsicles are a fun change from water. Good luck!!!
  • This has been a great thread. I'm only a week post surgery, so it will be a while. But one of my family's favorite things for a celebration dinner is to go for Sushi. I now have some ideas on what may work for me to enjoy as well. You're all right, we don't have to give up everything, just the same old thing the same old…
  • Excellent, you're in this for life... a full life!
  • Much better getting in water and shakes today. And just finished 1.5 mile walk. And its only 5 days since I had the surgery! Feeling pretty good about it all today.
