  • My uncle ask me how I did it and I replied with diet and exercise. He then laughed and said "Isn't that the hard way?" I know my uncle didn't mean any harm but people who have been skinny their whole lives sometimes just don't get. This maybe the same "problem" your husband's family has. My husband's family hasn't…
  • Adding fiber is a great way to "get things moving" but only if you drink your water.Try to aim for 8 glasses of liquid a day. Caffeine is a diuretic which means it pulls water out of your body so try to limit it. Since you've already lost 50 pounds i'd guess you are exercising but exercises can help as well.
  • Usually when they talk about doing different muscle groups on different days, they mean weight lifting and not cardio. I would say listen to your body. If your not sore I would go for it. It sounds like you've had a good cardio system before and this is only a slight change in style. If you have a day you are really sore…
  • Good luck as you work towards your goals. I just wanted to add that if you make the food from scratch there is also the recipe tab where you can put in the ingredients and number of serving for MFP to calculate it all for you.
  • Things like yogurt and cheese sticks don't require that much refrigeration. It will keep from 7 to 1pm. I like the previous post about freezing a bottle of water. It would probably most thaw by lunch and then you would have a cold drink. Most of the time even eating a PBJ sandwich and chips is less calories than hitting…
  • For me it helps to go clothes shopping. To put something on that would never have fit before and see that it looks good and is even flattering.
  • You can do it! Just admitting how many calories you've eaten goes a long way. At least for me.
  • You should buy a few nice things for yourself now. I used to watch a lot of What Not to Wear and the best advice they give is to dress the body you have. I find that I lose more weight when i like the way clothes look on me. Yes it is little frustrating to put clothes on the "too big" pile that I only bought 6 months ago…
  • If your cousin is 370 pounds, her daughter might have a fear of becoming that heavy someday. I don't think we should try to deny or belittle that fear. At 6 years, she is old enough to understand some basics of food pyramid ideas and encouraging basic exercise like playing outside. In basic terms explain to her that food…
  • Your abdominal muscle help support your back. This is especially true of the lower abdominal muscles. Try these: 1. pelvic tits: laying down or standing against the wall. gently rock the top of your hips backwards flattening your lower back. 2. lower abdominal crunches: lay on back, lift one knee till perpendicular to the…
  • The numbers numbers don't seem low. At first, i thought the numbers actually seemed high but i checked and your a guy. Guys need more calories than girls. Remember a pound is about 3000 calories. So to lose 2 pounds a week you need a calorie deflect of 6000 calories or 857 calories a day. MFP is calculating that for you…
  • I have a cheat meal once or twice a week. If I go the whole day I'll blow it too much but one meal gives me the freedom to stick to it the rest of the week.
  • You can do it! Let others inspire you and then go do it yourself!
  • HI, I'm breastfeeding too. Mine is 8mo and almost 3yrs. Not breastfeeding the oldest LOL. So far this had been great for my weight with both kids. Luckily my oldest thinks if fun to watch me exercise on my Wii. I let her pick out what exercise I do on my Wii Fit Plus and I just go for a calorie goal. Best of luck to you…
  • My suggestion would be to record it as exercise and not touch your activity level. If you are losing weigh at one activity level I would be hesitant to change it. Plus if you skip gardening on day for rain or something you calories would still be right. Just a suggestion, I'm definitely not an expert at this site.
  • So far some great advice. First weigh yourself first thing in the morning with the same clothes on (or none at all) and remember it takes a few days for a good or bad day to show up on the scale (true but no idea why). Also make sure to eat the calories you burn off so that you don't go into starvation mode. Finally…
  • I'm trying to lose weight too. I have to admit having my two kids actually helped me lose weight. Breastfeeding is the best weight lose system on the planet. lol I honestly don't tract those calories since i don't actually know how much my little guys is eating from me and my goal is only .5 lbs a week any way. I figure…
  • Paul, I applaud your efforts to eat so many veggies but maybe your over doing it. Try incorporating more protein and fats in your diet. Maybe a egg or something. Proteins are important to gain back any of the muscle you said you lost. I know fat is a dirty word but they are also important. There are some nutrients you can…
