  • Depends if you are a numbers person. personally I will pace the halls at night to hit my target number. I have an HR and love it.
  • Give yourself some time. It sounds like things are working for you if you lost 6 pounds. The heavier you are the long it takes to show in you clothes. Personally it take about 10 pounds for me to drop a size but I'm kinda short. Also try to incorporate muscle strengthening at the gym and not just cardio. Strong muscles…
  • Just start moving and tell yourself you can stop after 5 or 10 minutes. Once you start it's easier to keep going.
  • The same thing happened to mine. I got a new Fitbit HR and love it.
  • I haven't used it myself but I read some other reviews. It sounds like you use them before a really intense, aka hours long, workout. I don't work out that hard. I suppose if you run marathons it might be worth a try.
  • To the original poster, unless you are looking to seriously bulk up, that is not the way you do squats. You knees should never go past you toes. That puts a lot of stress on you knees and leads to arthritis. The easiest way to think about a squat is to pretend there is a chair behind you. Stick your but way out and lower…
  • I disagree a little with Nearsightednonny. Don't cut naturally occurring fats likes in dairy products. Milk fat help you feel full longer and is not bad for you body. Eating fat does not make you fat. Eat too much of anything makes you fat.
  • I was in your shoes about 6 years ago. Since then I've lost a total of 45 pounds. My advice is baby steps. Change your life and don't "diet." Start just by logging what you actually eat. If possible weigh and measure everything. Once this is a habit, look at your life. What would you like to change? Such as eating more…
  • I disagree. I find MFP quotes to be all over the board. I also have a Polar FT4. I've had it for over a year and love it.
  • A couple of things i have noticed. First when your fitbit says you've burned 400 calories in an hour, remember you would have burned at least 60 of those calories sitting on the couch. So you need to mentally subtract those from the calories you think you should now be able to eat. Secondly fitbit seems to over estimate…
  • I used to eat to cope with my stress too. Now that I've quite for a while I still find myself slipping back into bad habits once in a while. The funny thing is it no longer works for me. Food has stopped giving me that same happy buzz it used to give. Now I find it easier not binge because I know it won't help. Exercising…
  • Hello. I'm a mom of three and I successfully lost the baby weight after each one. I was over weight before I started but I'm getting slimmer with each child. Things that helped me were having a schedule and sticking to it and breastfeeding. I used this site especially for the last two. Most of my weight loss was baby steps…
  • All hormonal birth control has very high correlation to stroke and cancer. Even if you notice no side effects please be aware to these.
  • BMR stands for Basal metabolic rate and basically means the absolute minimal energy your body needs to survive if you were sleeping all day. So you ate less than half the number of calories you body needs to survive in a day. This number does not include any movement you did such as walking to the bathroom and even sitting…
  • I'd love to have new friends on both.
  • I was raised Catholic and now a Lutheran. I'm giving up an hour of TV at night, and praying the Litany and reading my Luther's Small Catechism instead. I agree with previous posts about there being no Easter without Lent. Lent is a somber time to reflect on the cost of sin, the death of God's Son Jesus. Knowing that the…
  • Size 10 is my goal size. I know it's hard but shrug it off and think about finding a new doc.
  • Depends on how number motivated you are. It helps me to see I'm short by 30 cals and I can run around a bit and burn that back off. I also feel is much more accurate then just guessing your activity level.
  • Thank you read2rock. You had the right answer. I never would have guessed it was deducting the calories twice.
  • mom of three here. I also use wii games to get a morning workout in. Totally guilty of stealing snacks or worse eating whatever they didn't finish. Don't want to waste right? wrong all goes to waist. feel free to friend me.
  • I found that most of the exercises are too easy for me. Though I do love the electric scale. I've had mine for 5 years. In that time I've given birth three times. I love to track my slow weight loss over that time. Otherwise there are better workouts for the Wii.
  • My three kids, lol. Everyone thinks they need sweets. Therefore unrequested and unneeded desserts flow into my house. ugh!
  • by sending a small electrical current through your body. The electricity goes through muscle at a different rate than fat. From the time it takes to go through the body, a rough body fat % can be calculated.
  • I have a fitbit. It helps to motivate me to move more. It's not that accurate when I do cardio. I use my polar HRM to get a more accurate number. It also doesn't seem to be accurate when carrying things.
  • Sounds like you have a good foundation. The best part of this site is that it enables you to truly see what you are eating. As far as the exercise goes, I recommend setting a specific time everyday to do it. Personally I exercise in the morning but as a stay at home mom, I'm easily distracted. So I put on my exercise…
  • I too had to learn to stop emotional eating. Unfortunately I am still working on a new way to combat stress. I've been trying to exercise when I'm stressed out but it's not always easy to drop everything and take a walk.
  • it seems to me I change sizes every 10-15 pounds. I disagree about buy clothes while dropping. Maybe don't buy a whole wardrobe but a couple of piece help you to see a difference. That in turn encourages me to keep going. If money is tight, try second hand shops.
  • I've been there. Currently my jeans are size 12-16. Yes I"m wearing all those different sizes at once. You might try different cuts. I know you're kind of on the line but you might try Lane Bryant or TJ Banks. Their cuts offer a little more room. It's extremely frustrating but try on tons of clothes till you find ones that…
  • 4 cups of milk? is that a typo? Drink less milk and eat eggs or yogurt. Oatmeal helps me feel full longer. The old fashion kind is the best for feeling full. Whole grains will also help a lot. Switch out your fruit drink with a small apple and carrot sticks. The mind needs you to chew for a while before it thinks it is…
