But, I'm 5' 0.5" and petite trousers are often too short on me! It all depends on your proportions, I have a really short body (no waist ) and slightly less than average leg length.
-
Mostly I'm happy at my 5' 0.5" but sometimes it would be really handy to grow a few inches...like when I want to get served at a bar or when I can't reach the top shelves in the supermarket!

My son has ASD and was VERY picky as a toddler, one day he would eat sausages, the next hell would freeze over before I could get one near him. Life was very frustrating at meal times between the ages of 2 and 5! We tried the eat it or starve method as health visitor promised no child will ever starve themselves....they…

OP I feel your pain, as a 5' 0" woman over 40 I have a very low calorie allowance too. Meanwhile my slim teenage sons are human dustbins who devour all that gets in their way and have waists slimmer than mine! NOT FAIR! My husband is also overweight, and to be fair he is trying to cut down on excess calories (mainly…

Why do you say she's been edited? The guy from the company on Radio 2 today swears she wasn't. I can't see that it's been obviously edited.

I would say 1200 sounds about right if you have a sedentary job. I'm 5' and have an office job and struggle to lose weight if I eat over 1200. I find that very hard to do without counting as I found in the last few months "at maintenance" I slowly gained and hence I'm back counting again. If you eat healthy foods most of…

I'm jealous now! I love good food and all you posters that say you can eat 2000+ calories are making me drool! + Personally if I ate 2000 calories a day for extended periods I'd be the size of a whale!!
-
The whole point is that it's an average. Being older and petite I maintain at around 1350 but I'm sure that a larger younger more active woman may well maintain at 2650 which would make the average 2000. You just need to find the right value for you. Average values are of no importance when you are working out you personal…

The countdown has been on in our house for weeks! Will be cheering on England as well as the other teams that feature Southampton FC players in them. Beers are in the fridge and flags are up :-) I wish Luis Suarez was English though!

Moderation is the key! I would say that drinking 2 litres of any one drink a day was too much (except maybe water). It's the same as eating vast amounts of one thing. Personally, I avoid artificial chemicals in food and drink as much I can. I like to give my body fuel and nutrients as the main intake and 'junk' in my case…

Sounds like you are determined to make a change which is good. I'd take things a little slower though or you might quickly get fed up and go back to old ways. Rather than waiting until you're hungry (tummy rumbling etc.) before you eat why not plan 3-4 regular meals that way you are less likely to over eat at each meal. On…

The menu sounds lovely, next time we're in Brighton (we're in Kent) we may have to try it! I would avoid the masala and the paneer, to keep the calories down, otherwise just enjoy! As has been said one day going over won't hurt...just relax, enjoy yourself and eat a sensible quantity of whatever you fancy.

A stir fry is an easy way to bump up the veg intake. I use a mixture of peppers, mange tout, baby sweetcorn, bamboo shoots, onions, white cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and beansprouts and add some black bean sauce, and some lean beef or chicken strips. Bonus is that it takes minutes to make.

7 bags of sugar or 2 new born babies!

Don't panic, it may take a while to get the levels right as others have said, but once you do you'll feel so much better. I was diagnosed as hypothyroid almost 10 years ago, after a very scary few months where I felt so ill I honestly thought I was dying or going mad. I was tested for MS, brain tumour, heart defects, you…

Thanks for that OP. My husband is gluten intolerant but misses pizza, GF pizza bases are dry and tasteless so this looks like a good alternative

Cool, I'll just up the wine then

Why do you think canned and frozen veg aren't included? Frozen peas are much higher in vitamins than fresh. Mostly fresh is better than canned but it all counts.

Since the serving size is a set amount it seems mad that all adults are being recommended the same amount of servings. A percentage of total calories would make more sense to me. Surely little old me at 8.5st eating 1300 calories can't be expected to fit in as much fruit and veg as my 16st husband who scoffs 2000+ calories…

That's not true at all! I'm 5' tall and my TDEE is 1556. So to lose weight 1200 plus exercise cals is about right once you add in the odd day over. Agreed 1200 is not a good catch all number but please don't assume that it suits no one. I would just say that everyone should get to know their body and not just blindly…

I wouldn't go to a Toby Carvery for that reason, seeing so much food being wasted seeing parents encourage their older kids to eat so much upsets me. Portion sizes in restaurants in general are huge for me. It's no surprise that I put weight on so easily. I have been known on many occassions, since learning how to handle…

Hi all, I'm Teresa, 43, from Kent. I joined mfp last Jan to lose a few pounds before my wedding in August, and managed just under a stone. Now concentrating on healthy eating, and trying to shift those last few stubborn ones. I have 2 teenage boys who eat like horses and stay skinny so find it hard with all the food around!

Hi, I eat 1200 ish calories most days (but I don't count at weekends  ) as my maintenance calories would only be 1350 without added exercise. Yes I'm little, so I need to eat little! This has been a hard challenge for me as portition sizes wherever you go are huge. I have an open diary so feel free to have a look…

I cheated and had mine at the weekend as I don't stick to calories at weekends  I had them stuffed with apple and blueberries and some mascarpone....yummy!

I have been on meds for hypothyroidism for 7+ years and have also had several periods on SSRIs since having PND after my second child 14 years ago. Both the meds and the thyroid issues can 'help' to put on weight or make it harder to get off (mainly since they increase your appetite and you therefore eat more) but I doubt…

I'm a shortie anyway at just 5' but petite trousers are always too short for me and buying a dress or swimsuit is a nightmare! I've never had a waist, my ribcage comes down past where my waist should be. When i was pregnant with my son (now 16) I looked 6 months gone by 4 months and by 9 months every one was convinced he…

Not excited, but have watched a few bits concerning UK competitors. Far more excited by the anticipation of the World Cup. Even if England don't do too well I'll be proud that some players from my team will be there for the first time in about 30 years!

Hi all. I log (almost) daily, and have an open diary. Been here almost a year and still logging :-) Feel free to add me

Hi, Cutting out the take aways and fizzy drinks is a good start. I understand the fussy eater thing, my son has Asperger's and was a very fussy eater, but with determination from me and himself we've pushed his boundaries and now he eats a much more varied diet. Are there any fruit/veg you like? Maybe set a target to have…
