Good luck with the cutting out booze :-) I've been in situations before where I realised that I was drinking every night just to be able to relax...not a great place to be. Luckily I realised what I was slipping into and was able to just cut right back only allowing myself a drink at weekends. Certainly helped with the…

I'm another vote for RC. The classes are fun (in my experience) and since you're on here watching your food intake a free exercise class would be a bonus. When I went there was a good cross section of people, from those that were 150lb+ overweight to those, like me, who were fairly fit and just trying to drop baby weight…

Hi there, I just found this group. I'm 42 and my partner and I have been trying for a baby for 4 years now. Drs can't find anything wrong and as I have kids already (from previous marriage) they aren't too bothered about looking to hard, but with my periods being unpredictable and suddenly very heavy over the last year I'm…

Just so we are clear there are loads of 'sugars' ..... "Sugar is the generalised name for a class of chemically-related sweet-flavored substances, most of which are used as food. They are carbohydrates, composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. There are various types of sugar derived from different sources. Simple sugars…

:grumble: ^^^ This! Added sugar is certainly not needed. We will always eat a certain amount of natural sugars in everyday food, especially fruit, veg and dairy but added sugar is completely unecessary....it just tastes good

That is certainly not nonsense! When toxins in your system build up the whites of your eyes turn yellow. This is the same as when you have Hep A/Jaundice which is when your liver is not functioning fully. If you eat a lot of highly processed food with additives etc you end up with too much junk in your system the organs…

I agree with the above. However I have a problem with people using their thyroid condition as an excuse for why they gained weight, and can't lose it. I was alsways a UK size 8/10 until at 30-32 when I started to be tired a lot and slowly gained weight, by the time I was diagnosed (aged 34) I had gone up to a size 12/14.…

I try and plan and log in advance for both myself and my OH. I make lunches the night before and portion it out 40/60 as we have big differences in our calorie needs. I'll plan a few days in advance and shop accordingly. It helps avaoid last minute panic and eating whatever is in the cupboard - usually the kids crisps and…

I forgot to add, of course eating tiny amounts is dangerous..that's common sense. There is however no magic number below which no one can function healthily.

There is an important word in the above...AVERAGE....we are not all average. If I ate 1700 calories a day every day, I'd be the size of a house in a couple of years.

Hi, I can relate to your feelings...I'm only 42 but already experiencing peri-menopause. I have been a fan of Patrick Holford's books for a long time and used his diets/supplement suggestions to help with depression and a thyroid problem. I'm now increasing my vitamin C, vitamin E and fibre in take in an attempt to…

Hi, I know this post has been here a while but just came across it today. I'm a huge fan of Patrick Holford. I have reduced my depression, and lost weight by following his optimum nutrition book, now trying to cope with peri-menopause too. The grains thing is a little confusing but basically he seems to say cut out modern…

How did it go? I've just found your group. Getting married 3 months from today. I'm collecting my dress tomorrow, just had it taken up. We are getting hitched in the Caribbean.

Hi Fellow shorties! I'm 5' 1/2" (the 1/2" is important!), 42 years young and aiming for 122lb. At my heaviest I was 136lb. I would love to fit comfortably in a UK size 10 maybe even get in my size 8 jeans again!

Totally agree, I have been speaking with a young adult on here and they are struggling with changing to a healthy lifestyle while all around them their family are still overweight and eating badly...and they keep encouraging their child to be like them.

1971 - I knew a few of these but others were surprising. BBC Open University began The Aswan dam officially opened in Egypt Rolls Royce goes bankrupt and is nationalised Switzerland gives women voting rights Decimalisation Day! UK and Ireland switch to decimal currency – I month after I was born Evel Knievel sets a world…

It depends if they've made their diaries open to viewing. Mine's open if you want to take a peek. I'm trying lots of new recipes at the moment trying to get the whole family involved in healthy eating.

I'm slightly over 5' and 130lb currently, down 136lb. I've been losing 1/2 a week by eating approx. 1300 without eating back exercise calories, exercising 3-4 times a week.

Hi all, I'm in Kent. Looking for exercise buddies in the Ashford area.

:flowerforyou: Don't let it get you down, it was a tactless thing to say, but no one is perfect! Have you talked to him about how you feel? He probably doesn't realise quite how you are feeling. He may think his comments would motivate you, but if it's had the opposite effect you should let him know that. I know exactly…

I'm a bride to be...just 4 months time I'll be getting hitched in Turks & Caicos! I'm desperate to lose a few pounds before then, as at 5 foot nothing it's hard to look slim in a long dress, and heels aren't an option on the beach  Would love some friends on here to help each other keep motivated. When's your big…

I'm a newbie on here also from Kent (Ashford).
