Hi Denise - You've certainly opened my eyes. I honestly never gave much thought to the amount of sitting I actually do. Not being in a healthy place I compensate or tolerate what my body is unable to do. I'm now very aware that when I don't move enough, the stiffness begins to set in. Prior to this, I attributed all the…

I have a pile of stuff in the basement I've been meaning to bring up and toss, because I hate doing stairs I've been "forgetting" to take care of it. Ugh! It's now or never.

My daughter moved into her own home 3 years ago her bedroom has never been completely cleaned out. So far 2 days of sorting and organizing. Lots of steps, bending, and hauling. We have a ways to go and so the project continues.
-
This will definitely add steps, my daughter texts a lot during the day.

If sitting while the t.v. is on, I get up and walk through the house for the duration of the commercials. I've replaced "doing the stairs". Instead of grouping things to put away, I break the stack up into smaller groups to get more steps in. It really does add up.

I'm going to walk and then rake the leaves from around the flowers.

JFT 05/04: I didn't post yesterday. I'm struggling with compulsive overeating; so for today I'm gonna figure this thing out.
-
I've committed to the Bronze level. I will get up and move at the commercial breaks, and do repetitions of the basement stairs.
-
I appreciate the videos. When broken down in that manner, things don't seem so overwhelming. Thanks.
-
JFT 04/30 1. Log every bite I take and measure everything. 2. Complete EOD entry in my gratitude journal. 3. Fight off the urge to snack when I'm not hungry.
-
JFT: 4/27 1. Going to clean both bathrooms 2. Increase my steps 3. Eat 2 pieces of fruit 4. Drink more water

JFT - Thursday 1. Put more of an effort into exercising. 2. Focus on today and not obsess about how I'll handle the future. 3. Take control of after dinner snacking.
-
I battle depression and it is true, the more you sit the more depression takes over. I see my doctor tomorrow and we'll talk. There is no down side to exercise. For me it's a matter of getting off my cushion and just doing it. So JFT/Monday 1. Get up and move every time my alarm reminds me. 2. NO "I'll have just one treat"…

I'm surprising my son by doing a load of his laundry.

My husband has an appt. for a blood check today. Although the clinic is close by we're expecting more snow and even though he hasn't said so, I know he's a little concerned about road conditions. So I'll run to the store today and as long as I'm out, I'll volunteer to drive him to the clinic. He'll appreciate the effort…

I get to be with my children all day. What are some acts of kindness I could do for them? In cold weather I would make hot chocolate and have them sit at the table and we'd just talk about whatever they wanted. If they're too little for hot chocolate, a warm glass of milk will do. Every once in a while, as a surprise, I'd…

I got up early and surprised my husband - the coffee was brewed and ready to enjoy when he got up. I have to run to the store before the snow flies again. I'm going to acknowledge every person I can make eye contact with.
-
My husband's right leg has been giving him trouble so I poured his coffee and brought it over to the table with his lunch. He appreciated not having to walk the extra steps.
-
I make a point of showing someone kindness every day. The easiest thing I've found is giving my shopping cart to someone rather than putting it back and getting the quarter. Something as simple as smiling at someone can make their day. The kinder we are the better we end up feeling.

What a great success story! I'm very happy for you, congratulations!! <3

Really impressive! A job well done.

Welcome back from a fellow survivor! I wish you every success.

I am sorry that your husband is ill. My husband has had health issues on and off for close to 8 years. I too am an emotional eater. Being the care giver is almost as tough as being the patient; do you have family and friends that can lend a hand? I have relied on family and community for support. Younger members come in…
