  • Sometimes, it's genetics. For me, it's genetics and stress. I focus on getting enough sleep with the JawboneUP, which tracks my sleep. I find that my sweet spot is about 7.5 hours. Too little or too much, and I've got a headache. I found that staying away from caffeine -- including Excedrin Migraine - has reduce my rebound…
  • That is literally my worst fear. My boobs hold all of the power over my fiance...
  • My aunt was a nurse. I'm 26; she had diabetes about as long as I can remember. She worked nights and let her weight get out of control. She ended up losing a foot, and never recovered. It pained her too much and slowly she fell from a cane to a walker to a wheelchair. We took care of her the best we could, but she passed…
  • I also always look at the negative reviews. No, I don't get paid frequently to write diet pill reviews; most of what I do is edit/proof and ghostwriting. But it really opened my eyes when people started asking me to write reviews for their products. Those products are also often loaded with caffeine, and can be dangerous…
  • Go to a doctor or a therapist. You have an eating disorder.
  • People get paid to write those Amazon reviews. I know, because I've been paid to do it. All diet pills, especially raspberry ketones, garcinia cambogia... they're a big, big ol' scam. Count calories. Don't stress. Exercise when its fun. There is no magic pill.
  • I have a JawboneUP and I love it. I've had it since March 2013.
  • I've been here (active) since June, and plan to be here a long time. Feel free to add me.
  • If you can, you guys should consider going on continuous birth control, either via IUD, implant, or pills without the sugar ones. I had awful periods when I was young. 8-10 days of heavy flow, cramps, constipation, diarrhea, mood swings, binges, nausea... anything you could think of. I've been on Yaz, with a brief stint on…
  • Panthers and Bills. I have a thing for disappointment ;)
  • Didn't read other posts, but what about Leanne Brown's cookbooks for vegetarian and for SNAP food (food stamps)? They're both free: http://www.leannebrown.ca/cookbooks/
  • Awesome!!
  • I'm a Graduate Teaching Assistant... does that count??
  • Coke is / was a huge addiction for me. there's no easy way to leave it. And no, I don't mean cocaine. Something about Coca Cola hits all of my buttons in such a nice way. Good luck. I've found moderation through not buying soda for the house, and basically only drinking it when we go out to eat. As for weight loss, I agree…
  • This one's kinda weird, but our bathtub starts slowly draining if it goes over a certain point, so you can only fill it so high unless you want to hear it draining while you're taking a bath. A few days ago, I filled it to my usual level, got in, and realized that I needed to fill it more to actually have the water level…
  • I had this problem with counting calories for a LONG time, and it took some mental stuff in other areas for me to find my sweet spot about food and fix my binging problem. As to the binges, maybe if you just portion them out into their recommended serving sizes, you can help yourself stop? Or, distract yourself with other…
  • A pound is 3500 calories of excess food. So, to truly gain 5 pounds in 10 days, you would've needed to eat an extra 17,500 calories.
  • I spent 8 years in a LDR that, in hindsight, was emotionally abusive at best. When we started, I was 15 and he was 27. But that's a story for another time. In any case, it sounds like your BF may be very, very dishonest. My guess is that he's juggling girlfriends and for whatever reason, a different girlfriend just became…
  • I haven't had a child, can't attest to anything post-childbirth, but I've been on generic Yaz for 7 years and take it continuously (no sugar pills) and essentially only have spotting every few months.
  • My best friend and I have been friends for 21 years, and we had a break up once, for a few hours, when we were 10. I would recommend keeping your distance from that friend and focusing on the positive in your life. Like your health.
  • I do not log in MFP separate from my UP band unless it is something not well recorded by UP (cycling, swimming), or if my UP is broken (like right now). I would recommend the same.
  • Yeah, your boss has no right to accuse you of masturbating with no evidence. That's sexual harassment, to a T. If your boss is the *owner* of the business or there's no HR, I would consider a lawsuit.
  • I get catcalls of all sorts whenever I'm walking on the main road near my house. Not in the neighborhoods on either side of the road, but up the main road. If it concerns you a lot, I've found that carrying a visible deterrent, like pepper spray, deters them. Mine has a clip and I strap it right onto my sports bra.
  • To everyone who is waning on motivation, try the Ease Into 5k plan. It's a little easier, IMO, than Couch 2 5k because there aren't large jumps in weeks 5-8. Also, I'm on week 6 of EI5k, and would love more friends! :)
  • I'm always looking for more friends. About 50 to lose ideally. I'm an ecologist in Dayton, OH.
  • I saw my gynecologist back in February, and she never once called me fat. I called me fat, or said I had put on too much weight, or something. I'm a scientist, she's a doctor. We both know the science, and the stats. She treats me as an equal. And she reminded me to take care of myself. Told me to make time for me. That I…
  • New here, but I agree. Jawbone's customer service is above and beyond what you'd expect from a company. I've been living UP since last March, my most recent replacement band just broke after 7 months. They're sending a replacement, STILL, no questions asked.
  • If you can, consider birth control. I lost ~8 days a month before birth control. Now I take continuous hormones (no sugar pills) and I'm functional every day, even when I have occasional spotting.
