Bumping for after-bar "debating"

They ALL are kids!!! MUHAHAHAA... In the words of Mike Boyle, "If you want your kid to stink at sports...X-country" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7roMQVqUFM

:) I don't believe in training the heart, so I told my breath when I lift.

Ok, back from the gym. Got HOOOGE last night. Anyway.... Lets just put an end to this. First I'll define what I consider cardio, and what I consider resistance training. Cardio - steady pace, submaximal exertion, below anaerobic threshold, using primarily aerobic pathways (eg. biking, running, prancercise) Resistance…
-
I'm not sure what you consider rhythm, but if you're referring to the body's ability to rapidly relax antagonist muscles, then that is best accomplished through olympic lifting, plyometrics, speed squats, etc.
-
Running is simply a learned skill. Any physiological adaptions to improve endurance can be accomplished through resistance training. G2G get swole!!! We can continue the debate later.
-
Once you can offer me one benefit of steady cardio, that resistance training doesn't offer, I'll consider your argument.
-
You people are arguing which type of exercise YOU do, and which YOU think is best. To answer the OP questions, the reason people "boycott" cardio is because there is ZERO benefit that is exclusive to cardio. Any benefit that cardio offers, resistance training offers, and more. Runners are going to run, and lifters are…
-
Good post! Never thought of those.
-
And which one of those is cardio specific?
-
Can anyone offer one benefit of cardio that resistance training doesn't offer?...besides being better at running, that is.
-
Wait...what?
-
That's good, it still sounds like a mobility issue, either in your neck/trap or your shoulder.
-
scaphoid is a bone in your wrist. Scapula is the word you're looking for.
-
The reason is because cardio is an extremely ineffective means of exercise. Also, it has no benefit that resistance training cannot offer. Most people don't exercise because they love to exercise, they do it because they want to look/feel good. Why spend an hour lifting weights with 3 minute rest periods, then spend…

Could just be a tight pec minor...you have a bundle of nerves that runs down the front of your shoulder down to your fingers. Does this exercise give you the same sensation? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReigOk7Krzc

This will give you a good idea of the dangerously high levels of sugar in carrots! http://www.sugarstacks.com/carrots.htm

Any exercise is 'knee friendly' if done properly. She might have to find a qualified trainer, or pt that can help her with form. The only exercises I would avoid would be leg extensions, and possibly lunges.
-
A lot of people use them for "core stability," unfortunately they serve little benefit. Some beginners can benefit from them as a strengthening exercise, but once you can hold alignment for 20-30 seconds, it's time to move on.

Sugar is sugar. The difference is what comes along with the sugar. The fruit will have vitamins and fiber, which makes it a better choice, but I still feel fruit should only be eaten in moderation (just like everything else).

Well first, intense exercise produces lactate not lactic acid. This lactate is a result of acidosis not the cause, and is actually beneficial for the cell as it helps slow cellular acidosis. Anabolic and "canobolic" (catabolic) states are a result of diet/exercise, not types of exercise. Anyone that uses the word "tone"…

GENERALLY the trainers that are in the best shape are some of the worst trainers. GENERALLY they are the people that say, "Hey, I'm in great shape. I bet I could get people to pay me to train them." A lot of the top trainers are actually not in great shape. 1. They are more concerned about getting their clients in great…

Invest in a $3 furniture slider, and do lunge/squat variations.

Please avoid anything Jillian Michaels related. I think she has caused more injuries than every Crossfit gym in America combined. Take a couple days off, and you should be fine.
-
Try doing unilateral exercises like 1 legged deadlift, or 1 legged squat onto a bench. Also, shorten your rest periods. Weights are not necessary, your body only knows stress.
-
I would do this ^^^ Some fruit and fruit juices can be "bad" if you consume tons, but I've never seen an obese person that eats a lot of fresh fruits. Dairy can be bad for you depending on how you digest it, but again not necessarily a "bad" food. You're safe eating the rest.
-
Just say no to Crossfit. Your fitness levels will never be as elite as theirs, but at least you'll be able to wave goodbye when you're 50.
-
It's not that aerobic exercise is bad, it's just inefficient. However, it does become 'bad' when you only have X hours to workout weekly, and you spend all those hours running. There really is no cardiovascular need for aerobic exercise either.

Thank you. Good luck with your research.
