I went to pick up my fitness magazine at the book store... you know the one I buy every other month all the time. I just happened to purchase it on New Year's Day, I felt very weird about that for some reason.... very cliche. Picked up a copy of New Rules for Abs since I just finished and loved New Rules for Women also. I…

I usually send requests to people I find on the forums... sometimes their profile pic catches my eye (WOW - I WANT THOSE ABS!!!) or something they say (a knowledgeable friend). I accept all requests (even blank ones) but my profile does hint that I LIKE IT ALOT if you tell me how you found me!) :flowerforyou: Feel free to…

It's not so bad folks, just make the smart choices off the menu - but I do try to limit fast food places in general even healthy choices, because they are still somewhat processed and loaded with sodium, but some of my favorite choices are: Chick-fil-a: Grilled Chicken Sandwich or any of the Chargrilled Chicken salads…

I really like x-tend life. www.xtend-life.com They are pricey, but I really, really like all of the research they have done and the little published health articles they send with my vitamins. I also use and HIGHLY recommend their fish oil.

Sounds like a bug to me. Here's my advice Drink lots of water, eat lots of fiber, and eat some plain greek yogurt (to re-establish normal gut flora). Avoid processed foods in general (kinda taking a tangent here). After a few days of eating very clean and downing the yogurt, if you aren't improving, feeling worse, I'd go…

In the book, The New Rules of Lifting for Women by Lou Schuler the author suggests eating at least an extra 300 calories on weight training days. The author also advocates eating your maintenance calories and not at a deficit. This is to help build muscle, which in turn, will torch the fat! While I didn't always follow…

Welcome all NEWBIES!!! I've been here 351 days! Here are my tips: Log every day (and everything you eat - even wedding receptions, birthdays, holidays, and those OOPSIES! days). Drink lots of water Eat lots of lean protein (1 gm per pound of lean body mass - if you don't know your lean body mass, eat 1 gm per lb of body…

You will be MUCH happier with your results and efforts and if you read the book, The New Rules of Lifting for Women by Lou Schuler and do what he says. You will NOT bulk up with heavy weights. Trust me. My profile picture shows what heavy weight lifting has done for me. But here's another picture to show you:…

The book is about $10 on Amazon.com - has great reviews there also (available for free super saver shipping with your $25 or more order). As far as weights - Academy Sports has a very inexpensive barbell set, we also bought a used bowflex (the New Year is a great time to buy used exercise equipment in your local…

I'll be 31 on the 6th! Woo-hoo! My sister's is the 10th and her husband's is the 3rd!

Sorry the pics are so big... best I could do... but at least they are all showing now. : /

Can anyone see the "afters" on the right hand side of each picture?
-
How do I get the other half of the photos to show... the "after" parts?
-
Well, crap the photos are cut in half.... hold on...
-
Mine are currently being resized. :) Can't wait to get them back next week!

if you buy just the regular whey protein without extra stuff in it - it is safe for pregnant and nursing moms.
-
just a baked pork tenderloin with steamed broccoli and carrots - we are pretty boring around here.

Wow, all of these money oriented folks. If you're getting a refund buy the book, The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. He'll teach you how to become a millionaire. :)

Mine is free (now). But initially I paid $600 for the used bowflex, $1200 for the elliptical (retail $2000), and $150 for the free weights and bench and the power tower was $70. The commute is a walk down my basement steps. The "track" is outside in my neighborhood, has built in hills and everything! ;)

Eat before you go. Or bring in your own salad - I do this all the time with my family when they want to go somewhere dirty. They just know that's how I am now.
-
Pay cash for everything - no credit cards You spend alot less if you do this also, showing managers cash will remarkably make them lower the price - you just have to ask. :)

Well, here's a healthy chocolate-y treat to try: 1 cup vanilla almond milk 1 scoop vanilla protein powder 1 cup blueberries 2 TB cocoa powder SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!

I am a former tea hater - but someone saved me and introduced me to Harney and Sons teas. ALL are delicious. However, Cinnamon Spice is my FAVORITE. They also have a green tea variety in the same flavor. Awesome - sweet enough without added sugar and good for you! You may have to order on the internet - but don't be afraid…

Due August 2012 with #3 friend requests on their way!!!!! :)

Blueberries Broccoli Salmon

Protein, fiber, water, HEAVY weight training

My vote would be weights - I have no scientific data to back this up. I just think, most of the time that doing weights in general is more effective for weight loss, shaping your body, improving your health, etc than cardio. In fact, weight training CAN be a cardiovascular workout as well. Cheers!

I did not read through 15 pages of replies, but I for one LOVE CPK. They have quite a few healthy choices on the menu other than pizza. So just be smart when you order and be thankful. Get a salad with grilled chicken and no dressing (bring your own), just one idea....

As two other ladies already suggested, go buy the book "The New Rules of Lifting for Women" by Lou Schuler. (about $10 on Amazon.com) I was a novice lifter and I will complete the six month program tomorrow. :) It kicked my booty, but was clear and easy to follow. GREAT FULL BODY WORKOUTS!!!!
