LMAO!! Seriously no need for the public schlong display. That's just wildly unnecessary. I think old guys do it just to mess with everybody else!

That's not weird at all. Bright lights are a killer and fluourescent lights are even worse if you're prone to migraines. If anybody's looking at you funny, they're not working hard enough themselves! A baseball cap might help block some of that. But yeah if someone's looking at you funny, they need to work harder!…

I use the StrongLifts 5x5 program, and it definitely giving me results in terms of strength gains, and the fact that it is all compound movements is great not just for caloric burn, but efficiency of the workout. The thing with aerobic and anerobic exercise is that you really need both. Cardio on its own will burn muscle…

YES!!! That is the WORST!! I actually left a gym because they didn't enforce the rules and people were coming in and going in random order and at their own pace. So annoying! Discourtesy in general gets me pretty heated though!

Great question! I weigh about 210 and I deadlift 225, but as many people have pointed out, form is CRUCIAL with deadlifting. If your form is bad, you can really injure yourself!

You should eat what you feel is healthy and that you enjoy. Personally, I have to avoid pork for religious reasons, but I'm not about to get in someone else's face for eating it, you know?

Any strength training is good, but isolation machines won't give you the same results as free weights because of the fact that they balance the weight for you, and don't require any of the supporting muscles to assist. I found that I would hit serious plateaus strength-wise. Most of the reading I've done left me with the…

Oh MY!! You, sir are an absolute inspiration! I don't even have the words to show the appropriate amount of respect to your amazing accomplishment. God bless, and CONGRATULATIONS on taking your life back! Keep on rockin'!

Hey Ricardo, Awesome work man! I think you've got great motivation and an excellent attitude by the sound of it. Having a child definitely must be one hell of a kick in the butt to keep going, and I'm sure you'll do just that. I definitely can relate to the sliding back into bad habits. The suggestions I would offer are…

I have no idea what it is with Maiden, but I seem to alternate between Live After Death and Seventh Son when I work out. Both are very different, but they both get me all fired up.

haha if Spinal Tap goes to 11, then Steel Panther goes to like 1000! haha
-
100% without a doubt agree! The Force is strong with you! :)

Frankenstein is an amazing social commentary! I'm reading (yeah it's nerdy) the Forgotten Realms novels right now. But the next classic will be Dracula. most likely.
-
OH SNAP!!! that was hilarious!!!! :)

Heck yeah! that's awesome determination, and I love the way you said you're DOING it! hoping, wanting, and wishing don't get you there. Determination does, and I definitely see that there. Rock on!

If done correctly, Tabata interval drills are tremendously effective. Using a large muscle group like legs in the way that the Tabata protocol calls for creates an oxygen deficit that will torch the pounds. Very worth it, but they can be brutal. Good luck!

LMAO!! That one kills me!

Good question. Music definitely helps to motivate me. Right now, my playlist is pretty much loud. On heavy rotation are: Rise Against AFI Against Me Blood for Blood Agent Orange. But I'm definitely all about the loud punk rock. The Rise Against song Injection makes me want to throw stuff around for sure though!

There's no reason to be discouraged. It's just a matter of not being conditioned to do this yet. If everybody could get right off the couch and kill a 5k or a marathon, it wouldn't be an achievement. I couldn't run more than 10 steps 4 years ago, and now I regularly run several miles. The trick to the whole thing isn't a…

LOL Respect. I get furious with that erroneous comment also. Body re-compositioning is cool, but cardio alone won't get you there. Got to hit the weights for that.

I hear this asked a lot. I'm not really sure why either. The only thing that you can reliably count as water is water. You may get hydration from other sources like sports drinks and all that, but remember that they could have diuretics like caffeine in them, which results in a net loss of water ultimately. Lots of people…

Generally, I try to do a contradictory behavior- either brushing my teeth or chewing gum. For some reason, those help for me. If I REALLY want something, I find that I just need to do it- rather than substituting. If I substitute, a lot of times, a small craving that could have been satisfied risks becoming a binge when I…

I picked up an Timex Ironman Triathalon heart rate monitor and it's been awesome so far.
