Thanks ladies. I know it isn't one of these astounding weight loss success stories....but it all matters to the individual, right? Thanks for your encouragement. :blushing:

Genius!

Fantastic job - that is amazing progress. Well done! What's the best thing so far about losing the weight?

I don't really understand one of your points. You say you discovered TDEE which showed you were eating too little. That's fine. But then you decided to use that as a reason to "listen to your body". It sounds like you're not ready to listen to your body. Why didn't you just up your calorie target on MFP and keep tracking?…

THIS. PS You look great.

You're an inspiration - not just for weight loss but for anyone facing a challenge which they think is insurmountable. Congratulations!

You know what - yours is a simple suggestion - but maybe it really IS that simple. If it is - fine with me! I'm healthy and enjoying keeping fit, so maybe that does show in ways other than on the scale. (and yes, good point re: muscle and deficit). Thanks for replying.

OP - listen to this. This isn't a "nay-sayer" for the sake of it, but clearly somebody who has "been there, done that". That is so valuable, isn't it? Good luck in your journey.

Thanks to Wombat94 for being honest and making being slow OK. I am letting "being slow" get in the way of training for my first 10k cos I am nervous as hell of "looking stupid". You're teaching me a lesson. Thanks.

That's interesting

You have the right program. However, while the TEST was the above, as you describe, it was only to prove a point. The conclusion was that NO fad diet works. Having said that - I agree with the person here who says it was common sense dressed up as revelation. The thing I most learnt is that I STILL watched it, WAITING for…

I want a unicorn top like the weird gif guy.

I'd say about 12% better. It ALMOST made me post my first ever LOL. But I didn't LOL, so that would be lying.
-
This!! PS You also look great - well done.
-
Thanks all - you've given me a pretty consistent answer. I wish you all the best in attaining your goals, whatever they might be!

*TOTALLY UNSCIENTIFIC REPLY ALERT* I reckon it was just due to the fat loss and you managed to get the magic recipe right whereby you were eating well and exercising sensibly enough to lose fat while minimizing any loss of muscle. The reason I say that is that when you look at your before picture - even though you were…

THIS. I had a 3 lb fluctuation just from morning to evening, yesterday. There was a good reply on another thread about weighing yourself, (sorry, forgotten the link), that went along the lines of "If you get emotionally attached to the numbers on the scale, limit the times you weigh yourself per week/month. If you don't,…

I got tired just reading your list!! Maybe you could post your progress each week and I could read it each week and build up my stamina.

Weekends: So much socialising. So little structure.

Not stupid at all. This stuff all depends on whether you've tried to or not before, but it is dead easy, I assure you. At the most basic level - chop an onion and fry it gently. Chop some veg (say, some broccoli, carrot and peas, but it can be practically anything, especially something on its last legs in the fridge which…

Have you tried homemade soups? I find they are a good way of eating veggies when you're uninspired by salad (there is something about soups being hot which helps at this time of year I think). You can also add meat for protein. Also, liquids give you a feeling of being satiated. If you have nowhere to heat the soup where…

I read in "Red" magazine for January 2014 an article about happiness/wellbeing which said that "Mood result have been shown from just 10 minutes (more is better for health and mind, of course), with the biggest boost between 30 and 35 minutes (you may be pleased to know, more than 75 minutes caused decreased wellbeing).…

THIS THIS THIS! I just had this same experience. I want to go back in time and shake myself. WHAT was I worrying about? I could have been busier enjoying myself!!
-
I hear you. I've always felt "just those few extra pounds and I'll feel great about myself", but it doesn't work that way. I had a bit of a revelation recently. It probably won't be news to you, but it has really made a difference to my body confidence - I've been doing consistent exercise recently (3 times a week for…

Well put!

I could bore you for hours with different recipes, but for literally "quick and easy" - I don't think you can beat scrambled eggs on toast. Sure, it isn't a balanced meal, but it fills you, you don't usually have to go shopping specially to get the ingredients and you can make it in 2 minutes (especially if you do the eggs…

I wish you every success on your journey. Good for you...
