Everyday during the shred, I try to do a "normal" push-up. Still can't do it. But I'll keep trying, and one of these days I'll be amazed!! Good to see you here MaryAnn!

Congratulations Mimi! Debbie-you too! Let me know how the second go-around goes. Everyone: Does anyone else pretend their punching Jillian during the boxing move? She is evil, but I love her for it.

The side lunges with the arm raises...I still can't do them all. But, I can do more than when I started! Little by little... I was thinking today, maybe by the time I finish level 3, I can come back to level 1 and do the WHOLE thing. That'd be great!

I did Level 1, Day 10 today. On to Level 2 tomorrow...yikes!
-
Wow...this is why I love this site. Reading about everyone's successes pumps me up. I'm going to do Day 9 right NOW! PrincessDesiray...the suggestion is 10 days at each level. But I say if you feel like you're not ready to move to the next level after 10 days, don't. Nothing wrong with the 40 day shred!

There is the "science" side of this, which you'll see lots of discussion about here if you look around. Some very good, easy-to-understand explanations. Helps you to "get it", since being told to eat more seems counter-intuitive. As for more personal evidence...I can tell you that on days when I haven't eaten what I was…

I enter it as "circuit training" for 20 minutes because I've seen that suggestion before. However, that is really a rough estimate. I intend on getting a good heart rate monitor that tells you how many calories you've burned. It differs for everyone. You should consider getting one too. I've seen the Polar brand…

I'm thinking a good thing to do is to measure the marinade before and after. The difference is how much actually got used. Calculate the nutrition info for all of it, but only enter the difference you calculated.

Good job missyjane!

I was wondering that same thing! I have a great homemade marinade I love to use for grilled chicken. If I counted all the calories for the actual marinade it would be ridiculous! Obviously you don't actually consume all of that. So I've been wondering how much to count. Hope someone has a suggestion...

Stupid flu! I've missed 2 days doing the shred. I'm still really tired today, but I'm going to do the shred this afternoon anyway. I'm expecting it to be difficult since I missed two days, and I'm still not 100%. But there are bound to be bumps in the road, right? So time to get back up and get back into it!\ The good…

I did Level 1, Day 7 today. This is the first time in my life I don't have to force myself to exercise. During the workout, I keep telling Jillian how evil she is. But afterward, I love her for it. : )

Read "YOU: The Owner's Manual". Very good book, with humor thrown in so it's not so dry. It explains all you need to know to keep your body running well for a long, long time. Saturated fat: BAD. Limit as much as possible (difficult to eliminate altogether, just keep it low) Can raise your "bad" cholesterol Trans fat:…

Counting calories makes a HUGE difference, which is probably what brought most of us here. But, I've found staying active in these forums really, really helps. Everyone here is so inspiring. Try to find an ongoing thread (there are many) that you can relate to and become involved. Keeps you accountable.

--Triscuits with Laughing Cow cheese --1/4 cup of almond/dried cranberry mix --Yoplait smoothies - my newest find. A pouch (frozen) contains frozen mixed berries and chunks of frozen yogurt. Blend with a cup of milk. Delicious! One pouch makes 2 smoothies. I think it's 130 or 160 calories for one.

I did Level 1, day 5 on Friday. Other than Day 1, it was the hardest. I ran out of energy FAST and barely made it through. Afterward, I realized I didn't have a very nutritious lunch, and I forgot to have a snack before the workout. Aha! Today I did Day 6. Much better! In fact, the best day yet. I went up to 5-lb. weights…

I tried the tuna with cottage cheese today. Yum! I didn't bake it though because I wanted to see if I could make it at work during the week for lunch. No oven there, but toaster and microwave. I toasted a WW english muffin, then mixed the tuna and cottage cheese and microwaved (only need about 15-20 seconds), and spread on…

Counting calories makes a HUGE difference and is worth the work. Read nutrition labels and ingredients lists.

I second the pita. (Use whole wheat.) When baked, it tastes just like pizza crust! And nice and small so you CAN eat the whole thing. I've had twice for dinner this week: 1 WW pita 1/4 cup organic pizza sauce 1/4 cup 2% mozz. cheese 1/2 link Jennie-O sweet italian sausage (They have spicy too, but I LOOOVE the sweet.…

Bump! Great ideas!

Ditto! It makes such a huge difference. I just finished Level 1, Day 4. A little easier every day, and I'm able to push myself more each day. Can't believe one day can make such a difference! I feel so proud of myself. Good job, everyone else too, for your shredding accomplishments!
-
Are you eating more calories this week to account for the increased exercise?
-
I can't ever imagine being at Natalie's level! Even at level 1! But I shouldn't think like that, right? I did Level 1, Day 3 yesterday and it is getting a bit easier every day. I must say, knowing I have to be accountable here really helps! Thank you all for your support. I love this site!

Do yourself a favor: Take the time to count your calories. This web site makes it easy. Doing it in your head just doesn't work. After a couple of weeks, if you're still gaining (which I predict you won't be if you follow the guidelines on this site), you can look back and see where you possibly went wrong. Think of…

I second the agave, mostly for sugar substitute in recipes (I don't think I'd use it in my coffee or anything!) Only need a tiny bit...it's very sweet. So it goes a long way.

I use the Hellman's canola mayonaise. The ingredient list doesn't make me cringe, and it's a lot healthier than regular mayo. I can NOT tell the difference. And I use a lot less than I would have used regular. I try to avoid mayo whenever possible, but there are somethings (to me) that MUST have it, so I use this. 45…

Just finished Level 1, Day 2. I was able to push myself a bit harder than yesterday. So glad of my accomplishment. Side note: Who would've thought I'd actually LOOK FORWARD to abs? Each time, I'm so thankful that cardio is over and that I get to lay down for a minute!
-
okstategurl: You need light dumbbells (I'd start with 3 lb, and maybe work your way to 5 lb. eventually). A mat is helpful, unless you'll be on carpet, because there is some floor work. That's it! I was afraid I'd be super sore this morning after doing Day 1...but I'm not! My lower back hurts a little, so I think that…

I did it! I did it! Got the DVD in the mail today and did Day 1 right away. It was hard, you were all right. But I'm SOOO proud of myself for doing it! I just kept telling myself "it's only 20 minutes, it's only 20 minutes...". Tomorrow I've committed to pushing it just a bit harder. (Well we'll see how I feel,…

One of the easiest recipes I have, and really good! Calls for ground beef, but I've substituted with ground turkey and it's still delicious. 1 lb. ground turkey 1 can chili beans (has chili seasoning in it) 1 envelope chili seasoning 1 can Hunts spaghetti sauce Brown meat, then add remaining ingredients. Simmer for as long…
