Wow, Banks...I have so very often been impressed by your posts here. But THIS one...again, wow. Truly inspiring, and I believe you have hit on what is the missing ingredient for so many overweight/unhealthy people. You've given me a lot to think about.
-
It was pretty close for me. BUT...what I like most about this is if you have a bad day and you're honest about it, it will show how much you'll GAIN if you keep it up. Great motivation for getting back on track. Log every day, even if you know you're over.

Ditto. If you don't use a HRM, I think MFP's numbers already take the resting calories burned into account. At least for me, the numbers are often very close to my HRM number after I subtract the resting calories. You really only need to worry about this if you're using a HRM.
-
For what it's worth: There was a thread here a while back about subtracting calories burned from what the HRM says. The HRM isn't smart enough to know what you would have burned just sitting around. It will tell you what you burned during that time period, not what EXTRA calories you burned. I don't think it's a big deal…

Good job, Kelly and Nikki! I did W2D1 this morning. It went well! The 5th run was tough because it ended up being uphill, but I pushed through it. I'm really enjoying this program.
-
I did W1D3 today. I'm a little nervous about going to week 2 because the 60 second runs were still challenging today, but I'm going to do my best! I lost 2 lbs. this week, so I'm totally motivated! The podcast is so helpful!
-
Irberchlelli - thank you so much! I will do that. I'd like to start doing some yoga anyway to improve my flexibility.

Maryann...I say, when you're sick, THAT comes first. I think that goes for illness, injury, near-mental breakdowns...whatever! Get yourself healthy and feeling good, then get yourself back on the plan! Hope you feel better today. :flowerforyou:

I just did Week 1, Day 2. It was tough. But I made it through. It's very motivational to read about those of you on weed 3 and 4. The podcast is great, makes it so much easier! So, I've heard of sore knees from running...but how about sore hips? Mine were kind of achey yesterday. I have a feeling I'm going to be one of…

Hello everybody, I started C25K this morning, I'd love to join you even though I'm a little behind. It was harder than I thought it would be, but I did it and really liked it! I think I'm going to end up really liking running, which I never thought was possible for me. So, today: W1D1. I plan on doing it M, W, F, with some…

Good job, Deedee! I suggest anyone who still doubts this to follow her lead...try it for yourself. What's the worst that can happen? You gain a couple of pounds? Most likely it won't happen, but if it does you can cut down again. There are SO MANY people here who have made these same claims: eating your exercise calories…

There a lots of ways to increase your calories in a healthy way: * 1% or 2% milk instead of skim * Whole eggs instead of egg whites * Nuts * Avocado (yum!!!) * Organic/natural peanut butter * Cheese * Whole wheat pasta

BUT...in this example, if you are supposed to eat 1300 calories a day according to MFP, the 500 has already been deducted. This means MFP calculated you need 1800 per day to stay where you are, assuming no exercise. So it gives you 1300 per day, with no exercise, to lose 1 lb. per week. So, in the example above: 1800 to…

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with this...the point is MFP agrees with this as well, and already puts the deficit in for you. So you may be making your deficit larger than you intended (and possibly larger than it should be). Bottom line: no math needed! MFP makes it easy. Put in your initial settings, log your…
-
Keep in mind when you sign up with MFP and put in your goal and activity level, and how much per week you want to lose, it already has that calorie deficit accounted for. Be careful...you may be giving yourself 1,000 calorie deficit. (If I tell MFP I want to lose 1 lb. per week, it subtracts 500 from what it would take to…

Everyone looks great. What an amazing inspiration. It's so hard to visualize yourself changing into who you want to be, but then you come here and see that others have done it. It IS possible! Thanks for posting.

Excellent idea! I'm going to try that! I'm trying to stay away from the artificial sweeteners, this sounds like a great alternative.

Stick with it, it does get easier, and it does work. That being said, it doesn't get "too" easy. I went through all 30 days, and I'm now alternating between Level 1 and Level 2, sometimes adding Level 3 in there. I still have trouble in certain spots! The Shred brought about these changes: 1. I've lost 17 lbs. (of course,…

A few things I've read that have worked for people here in the past few months: 1) Change up your exercise routine, or decrease a little if you're overdoing it. 2) Increase your calories a bit. Are you eating what MFP suggests PLUS what you burn off exercising? If not, consider trying it for a few weeks. 3) Eat more…

If you like 'em, avocados are an excellent way to up your calories. And a great source of healthy fats, which your body needs.

If you look around a bit, you'll see this same type of question/concern ALL over here! So, you're not alone. Everyone is different, and to get specific advice, we'd need specifics of your situation. But here are a few general things I've learned in my 4 months here: 1. While exercise is very important and beneficial,…

It's kind of far up there now, so here's the link again. Just click on it, and it will take you to the first post in the thread (I think we're on "part 5" already). Browse through if you'd like, or go to the last page and post a comment. As Casper says, it will then appear in your "My Topics" list.…

Good luck! And come join our 40+ thread if you'd like the support...it works!

Bravo! Just take it one day at a time...it took time to put weight on, it will take time to take it off. Eat right, count your calories here, come here for support, encouragement, and knowledge, exercise at least a few days a week...and it will happen. First step is to convince yourself of that, and then NEVER look back.

You actually remind me of another very important point: The scale is one thing, and yes it's important...to a point. Even more important (I think) as we get into our 40's is getting our bodies healthy so we can enjoy our 50's, 60's, and 70's...and beyond. How many people in that age range have heart disease, diabetes,…

I promise I'll be more careful.

Sorry, CasperO...didn't mean to disclude you, or to imply there aren't lots of great men at MFP. The thread I put the link to happens to be women. Forgive me?
