I agree with the people telling you to slow down. I know it's tricky, but it does work. I remember that I could actually walk faster than I ran for most of the c25k program. The other thing that might sound odd is, do you like the location you're running? I'm miserable running on the treadmill (boring) and sidewalks (too…

Oddly enough, I don't any anything on the go right now. Most recently finished Jim Butcher's latest Dresden book, "Skin Game". Before that was Brandon Sanderson's "Words of Radiance" (book 2 of the Stormlight Archives).

Apparently, I'm 22.5% smaller than I thought. However that number would likely be closer if it factored in height - I'm only 5"2 so I believe I look wider than a taller person with the same measurements.

Me too!

I take advantage of the daycare room at my gym. My son loves to play with the other kids and I get to do my workout without interruptions - like being crawled on/under in the middle of a yoga stretch or "push-up". Our center also has a pool so some days I'll drop him at daycare go for a swim & then take him for…

I was having the same problem until I started chewing gum. Works like a charm.

Here's a late thank you for this reply. It was exactly what I was looking for when I opted to search instead of starting a new topic. Makes a lot of sense. Much appreciated!

My husband and I used the nhs c25k podcasts last summer & really liked it. I'm going to check out the other link now, thanks!

Are you limited to just the wii? There's some great games out for the xbox 360 & the xbox one that uses the kinect camera. It's officially the only way I will do zumba - at home where nobody can see me trip over my own feet. It might be a fun way to be active without feeling like it's a 'workout'. Personally, the…

Oh, don't worry, LOTS of people struggle with normal push ups! Before I sprained my wrist (in an unrelated accident), I was working on both incline push ups and pull ups with the goal of being able to do normal ones in the near future. When I started the incline push ups I was using a bar set at about chest level, now I'm…

Fantastic - you have the smile to match your shirt!

I second this! Seeing inches drop can keep you going on the days that the scale is being a jerk. Progress photos are also great motivators once you get going. Looking back, I wish I had taken more to show off my hard work but I couldn't get passed that instinct to hide from the camera. :ohwell: Make a list of NSVs…

Wow - good for you to think ahead. You're already setting yourself up for success. You're goal of 55 lbs in a year sounds very realistic. I lost 40 lbs last year by making small changes to my diet, watching my portion sizes and working out. The biggest thing is to make the changes you can live with long term & don't freak…

Good for you! Depending on your fitness level you may want to work up to your goal of playing it every day. Start off with 3 set days a week, then 4 the next, and so on. This will give you time to find what works best for you and for your body to get used to the demands of the increased activity. A lot of people make the…

I've been using the fitbit flex since Christmas and really like having the additional information. I spent some time on google trying to figure out how to get the most out of it and incorporated a few tricks that helped. First, as one of the other poster's mentioned, it is an activity monitor and unlike heart rate…

I usually play Zumba World Party (xbox one) on the days that I can't make it to the gym. It is a lot of fun and I always feel like the workout flies by. What game are you playing on the Wii? You tube is a great place to learn the steps if your game/dvd doesn't give you enough instruction - you can even search for specific…

I really like this guy...

You put exactly what I was thinking into words. It does sound like the OP's family is cynical and smug AND actively trying to find ways to make her fail so they can feel better about themselves. It's sad that they are wasting their efforts on sabotage instead of taking a step back and learning from her experience. Congrats…

@Plexgut, your quesadillas sound fantastic. What kind of meat do you use? We haven't branched out beyond chicken.

Oh, I feel for you! We used to dread each and every appointment with the public health nurse and with the cardiac nurse who used to track little man's blood pressure. The doctors/specialists fine, but the nurses usually left us feeling overwhelmed and incompetent because his weight/height were always at the lowest end of…

I have this one in the slow cooker right now! How many servings does this usually make for you?

Bump to read later.

@docfmb Don't wait for before and after pics. Take some time now to create something meaningful to you - it could be why you started, a goal you want to achieve, or a mantra that keeps you going when you're looking for an excuse to give up. Once you're done, post it somewhere where you can see it often like your…

Well done - keep proving yourself wrong! Congrats again on the medal.

I got to do my happy dance yesterday - 198.4!

Oh, that one is fantastic!

Nice!! I would be doing a happy dance too! haha

Congratulations! What a great feeling! This morning I hit 200 even - a loss of 1.9 lbs & my lowest weight in years. Of course, there's a part that was wishing for 199.9... but we gotta enjoy the victories when we have 'em. After nearly 2 months of fluctuating between 201-203, I'm thrilled to see the scale moving in the…

THIS is one of the things I'm working for!

Do what works for you! I had a hard time when we ran in the evenings during the summer - I hated eating right before a run because I always felt terrible. I usually had a light snack an hour or so before the run and then my big meal when we got home... sometimes not until 8 pm or later. I know a lot of people 'close the…
