  • I'm wondering the same thing...
  • I am really, really bad at the daily part of the daily check in thread! Since my last post i have managed to complete a few more 10k training runs. Some were non-stop, others were 10:1's with the running group. My runner's math/logic failed me the weekend before last. It went something like: It's a beautiful day for a…
  • Hi everyone! It's been so long since I posted, I don't even know what to say! I've been kind of lurking in the background throughout the summer, checking in every so often. Congrats on all of the progress and hello to all of new arrivals. This summer was a blur of activity - we're into the 3rd week of school and I'm still…
  • Sounds like a good run taeliesyn. Glad to hear things are looking up. The 'Shoe Whisperer' appointment went very well this morning. He spent a good amount of time explaining what he was looking at, the way my foot should function in a shoe, what was wrong with my old size, which shoe he was recommending, and why. I can't…
  • @Just_Ceci - 46 miles! "Nice work" doesn't seem to cover it.... :) @Autumnfilly2005 - Welcome! I look forward to reading your updates. This group is very supportive, don't be afraid to post questions and concerns. Chances are good that one, if not many of us, have been there before. No runs for me today but I did start a…
  • Wow - that half sounds like quite the adventure! Congrats!
  • Robbie - Nice work on the 5k time! Hope you get the Garmin figured out so you can get that pb next week. I talked to a few people from the local run club who know the employees of that store really well. They game me the name of someone to contact. I guess the guy is essentially "The Shoe Whisperer" when it comes to…
  • More shoe drama! On the 21st I went out to the same trail wearing different socks - nothing special, just a bit more ventilation along the tops than my usual ones. I also planned to stop and adjust my laces if necessary. I lost count of the number of fix-it stops I made - nothing worked. Called the shop when I got home and…
  • Interesting that you guys are discussing training programs. I've been looking for a something that will help me over this 7.5 km wall that I've been hitting. The b210k app appears to be preparing people for the ability to run for 60 minutes at a time. Which isn't really my issue, I just run so slow that I cap out at 7.5 km…
  • Taeliesyn, nice work! Sounds like you're leaving the old niggle behind you. Robbie, I may be putting their customer service to the test! A different issue this time... MM, Glad to hear the knee and ankle held up on the treadmill. Hopefully the weather will clear up so you can get outside for tomorrow's run. I went out for…
  • Hi everyone, it looks like you've been busy... and I have many, many pages to catch up on! Robbie - congrats on the H.M. Those hills..! @MeanderingMammal - hope the knee is feeling better. I think I finally found the replacements for my very worn out Ghost 6's! It took some doing: 3 visits to the shop, countless…
  • It seems that my problem is a fairly common one that they have been working on for a number of months. The latest update indicates that they have solved the issue internally and are now working on the logistics of another firmware update. This is the form thread:…
  • @asdf270, thanks for the info. I did think heybales was talking about the mfp forums. Any exercise/food that I log manually through mfp shows up in the fitbit log under that activities tab. I ran into syncing problems in the first week but they sorted themselves out after I reset the charge. Have you tried a reset?…
  • Ok, thanks. I didn't know there was a fitbit forum. I tend to stick to the groups...
  • It's too bad that this thread keeps getting buried. I think a lot of the new members would benefit from it.
  • Thanks for sharing this!
  • Glad your back is feeling better, Robbie. Romy, congrats on the progress! I think I graduated c25k with a similar time - I've yet to have a 30 min 5k. Aglaea - I'm with you on the weather frustrations. We're currently under a Winter Storm Warning, a Rainfall Warning and a Flash Freeze Warning. Which leads me to my own…
  • After 4 days off, The Blerch started trying to convince me to skip my planned run before I even opened my eyes Monday morning. It had lots of good excuses too... It WAS cold. Hubby and son WERE still sick. It was too early, I was hungry, and then it was late and so on. Luckily, my husband had the morning off so I was able…
  • MeanderingMammal - Sounds like you had a great run. Congrats on slaying the injury demon! Trail running is a goal of mine, albeit, a long term one at the moment. My favourite place to run is a gravel walking trail in town - it isn't a difficult trail by any means, but the trees, the lake, and even the other people out…
  • Wow - it's really easy to get behind if you miss a day on this thread! Yesterday was a run day for me, so I did 5.5k around the neighbourhood (41 minutes). I did need to distract myself a bit during that first 1.5k by practicing counting my cadence between phone poles. Usually I will start off counting my left foot strike,…
  • Robbie & taeliesyn, I did rest up over the weekend. Unfortunately, I had to learn the importance of rest days the hard way. Pushed too hard last spring and, between over doing the legs work and a wrist sprain that wouldn't heal, I was basically banned from the gym for a couple months. Safe to say that was a lesson that I…
  • Wow - nice runs everyone! I'm having a bit of a war between want and need today. I really WANT to go out for a run, but what I NEED to do is suck it up take a rest day from running and the gym. I had to ice after my workout yesterday and my ankle still doesn't feel quite right. Planning do do some stretching and revisit my…
  • I managed to sneak a short (3.88km) 30 minute run in this morning between dropping hubby off at the airport and picking Little Man up from preschool. I wish I had time for a longer run, it was sunny and the temp wasn't too bad (-12 without a windchill). No unexplained walks after that initial one at the 4.5 minute mark.…
  • Thanks for all of the replies and the welcome to the thread. You have given me a lot of consider. I just took a minute and wrote down the changes that I've made to my routine since November and there's more of them than I first thought.* Nov - colder weather, started changing the route to include pavement to prepare for…
  • Hi everyone, Aglaea suggested you guys might have some insight into a problem I'm having with my runs, hope you don't mind me jumping into the middle of your thread. Is it unusual need walk breaks during even the short runs in winter? I was running around 7-8 km 3 times a week without issue until mid-November. At first I…
  • If you're looking for something to estimate your daily burn then I would suggest looking into an activity tracker, like Fitbit, and save the FT7 for your cardio workouts.
  • "We're all here for the same reason."
  • Me too!
  • Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I have mfp and fitbit linked and negative adjustments allowed, but it doesn't do me a lot of good if I'm running errands all day!
  • Ooo - That sounds promising! I took my point & shoot camera on a run the other day and snapped some photos along the way - of scenery, not me - so I'm toying with doing something with that. Just not sure what, yet.
