  • I'll play! Just started fresh again this past Monday. I originally lost 80 pounds, but slacked off for two years and regained 25. Since I never got to goal the first time, here to lose the gains and the remains. Please feel free to add me, as well.
  • I think you're right! I tried Spark People for a couple days, but really didn't like it. Not as user friendly, the food and exercise databases were...not that great (to put it lightly, especially the food one). It took a while for me to "get up the courage," i.e., suck it up and admit it, to re-join MFP, but it really is…
  • I actually like the advice about the treadmill. I have one, and unlike others, love to run on it. I have a tv set up with a DVD player and watch movies while running and walking. I was very self-conscious when I first started out with exercise, and knowing myself, would not have done so in public. I lost a lot of weight…
  • It took me 40 years to find a stylist who knows what he's doing with my hair. If I ever move from here, either he has to come with me as my kept stylist, or I'll be flying back to Memphis every two months. Those keratin treatments that cost $$$ and are supposed to work to straighten your hair for up to four months...yeah,…
  • Why did I not know you can do this? Huh, learned something new today...
  • "Permanent" by David Cook. About his brother dying from a brain tumor.
  • Ha! Good luck collecting! Do hope it works for you, though, and not just because I don't want to owe you 6 bucks!
  • I have iliotibial band syndrome, so not really the same thing (my pain is on the outside of my knee). I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Bracoo-Knee-Strap-Size-Black/dp/B009LA8ZDY/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1409015959&sr=8-11&keywords=knee+band Just enter 'knee band' into Amazon's search and you get lots of different types. It…
  • Ditto all of this. I love the Enell bras. I'm a wanna-be distance runner and the girls stay in place for all those miles. I went from a size 5 (40DDD) down to a 3 (36D). About ready to move to a 2 in cup size, but have to catch up on the band size. It can take a little getting used to, because they are supposed to be…
  • Me! I'm pretty darn slow, too. My 5K PR is 36 minutes, my 10K is just under 70 minutes. I ran a 10 miler yesterday (my first double digit run!) that took me 135 minutes. I'm working on endurance first before trying to improve on speed, because honestly, I'm not a contender so speed doesn't bother me that much--just want to…
  • Never, ever, turn down free ice cream. Bad things will happen if you do. True story. Also, where do you work so I can come visit around the corner?
  • Beause I mentioned to a guy (40yo) that claimed 1000 calorie burns everyday that he might want to eat more than 900 calories everyday. Crazy idea, I know...:noway:
  • Well I agree with the second sentence! BBQ nachos, but with the homemade potato chips instead of tortilla chips. Oh yeah...
  • You think that Beale St. is a good place to be after dark. You think that Rendezvous has good barbeque.
  • Are we being punked? I have no idea what's going on here...
  • Yup. I'm not doing too badly for someone who eats pizza with some frequency...
  • Has to be action movies. Anything with Jason Statham keeps me moving! Lord of the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter movies, Avengers, Thor, etc.
  • Does sadness contain calories? Cause this makes me sad...
  • Wow, very cool! This will be a lot of fun, and you definitely deserve it for all your hard work!
  • Yikes! I've come close a few times with hot races, even on shorter distance 5Ks. I'm in Memphis, TN so it gets pretty hot here--I've learned to not try to PR those races!
  • Thanks for the link--will definitely up the carbs before my next run.
  • Thanks everyone! This is the plan that I was following: http://www.halfmarathons.net/20-week-half-marathon-training-schedule/ I had plenty of time to train so thought that this one would be good, since it repeats every week before moving up in distance. Turns out there was an underlining cause after all. I had to go to the…
  • Thanks, LoneWolf. I think that I'll try the chia seeds--I like the idea of something working over time instead of on-the-spot energy. Its interesting how I can have a great run one week (I also do 3 smaller runs during the week, from 4 to 6 miles each), and a crappy, painful one the next, and only adding one mile. I know…
  • I sometimes miss not giving a *kitten* what and how much I was eating. Extra bacon on my bacon sandwich with a side of a bag of potato chips? Why yes, thank you kindly. Other than that, nope, nothing.
  • Thanks! I'm following a half marathon training schedule I found at a marathon training website. Its longer than usual, at 20 weeks. This was week 11. The long run for the last two weeks was 8 miles, then up one mile for the next two weeks, and on up to 12 miles. Maybe I should mix water and Gatorade/PowerAde so I'm not…
  • I had eggs, bacon and toast about 5 hours before, a yogurt 3 hours before, and a fiber one bar one hour before. I usually try to eat a meal 2 hours before running, but it didn't work out that way today (took a krav maga intro class around noon--nothing high intensity, just an intro).
  • Honestly, whenever I see a user name with 'so-and-so's mommy' or 'mom of ____' as part of it. Just bugs me--do some people have no identity outside of being a parent?
  • Yup, me too. I'm actually more careful on-line than in real life. Less time for brain/mouth filter IRL. Also, tone is very hard to convey on-line, so I try to be cognizant of that.
  • This was awesome and brought tears to my eyes. Especially when your wife posted, too. You guys rock! :flowerforyou:
  • No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to call anyone out here on the thread! I've just seen it spelled so many different ways on this board that I start to wonder which way is the correct way!
