  • That video just made my WEEK!! :)
  • I also have Hashimoto's and want to kick it's stinkin' *kitten*! :-) I'm on Levothyroxine for now (playing with the levels). After working out consistently for almost two years, I saw the scale move for the first time two weeks ago. Nothing major, but something at least. My husband and I are signed up for a half marathon…
  • Yeah, and you have to do the same for calcium and antacids. What dosage are the shots that you get once a month? My once a week shots are 1000mcg cyanocobalamin.
  • I quit gluten the day I got diagnosed and cut dairy out 90% of the time. When I do have dairy, it's only cheese and I only eat vegetarian, organic cheese. A lot of my symptoms got better, but no change in any of my lab results. :(
  • I'm going to ask for that test the next time I see my PCP I think. I give myself a B12 shot once a week; take a prescribed medication that has B12, Iron, and Folic Acid; daily drink a protein shake containing 330mcg (5500% DV) of B12; and take a daily supplement that includes 75 mcg (1250% DV) of B12. On my last blood…
  • I was diagnosed just shy of my twenty-eighth birthday, but my doctors suspect that I was born with Hashimoto's. My mom also has it and was not diagnosed until I was about twelve years old. Because there are so many members of my family that are of poor health or close to it, everything that was wrong with me was assumed to…
  • Holy T4, Batman! I would say, in my totally non-expert opinion, that you might be slightly hyperthyroid. With your TSH below the normal range and the symptoms you're describing, I would not be shocked at all if you were diagnosed as such. Are you on meds of any kind?
  • Ahh... That's what it was then. I'm gonna be put on Cytomel in addition to to Levothyroxine instead of switching off of Levothyroxine for Armour exclusively. I found this interesting regarding the "which is better" debate (which doesn't apply if you're a vegetarian...): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc8tXvfi_sU I also…
  • Here's the not-from-pig version of Armour: http://www.rxlist.com/cytomel-drug.htm
  • Just starting the gluten free process (about two months in). Also a vegetarian which can make things interesting (at a restaurant: "Oh, no gluten? You can have the steak!" :) ). I'll add you now. :)
  • I'm not sure of the name, but I think it starts with "Nature." Maybe "Naturethroid"? I mentioned being a vegetarian in passing, and he looked almost mortified and said, "Why didn't you TELL me? I almost gave you pig!" To myself I thought "Well, I thought that was my only option..."
  • I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in May of last year, Hashimoto's in December (once I found a doctor who would listen to me and actually tested me for it - my mom has it so I figured chances were good...). I'm just on Levothyroxine for now. My PCP had me on 25mcg, then 50mcg, and he actually wanted to bring me back down…
  • My levothyroxine has a warning label on it not to take Iron, Folic Acid, or Calcium supplements for at least four hours after...
  • I soooo know what you mean about the "is THAT all" comments. A close second is "Maybe this is just the way you are"... Grr... I really feel like until you have suffered through hypothyroidism, there is NO possible way that you can begin to understand what it feels like. I know my friends and family are trying to be…
  • I was vegetarian for about six years before becoming pescatarian five years ago. I have an open diary. Feel free to add! :)
  • You're not alone in this. My doctor tested me (even though he looked at me like I was nuts when I asked) because both of my parents have hypothyroidism. When the results came back, he said it was severe, but I've never been given actual numbers, just an increase in my meds. Last time I went in (about three weeks ago), he…
  • That's the same boat I'm in. I was already leaning towards changing to a clean eating diet before I got diagnosed, but when I read a lot of articles stating that eating clean can help thyroid function, I dove in. I don't find it boring, but it is difficult to stick to when going out to eat. I just try to make responsible…
  • I agree with everything you said. I'm not going to force myself to eat when not hungry or when it's too late for me to metabolize it properly just because a little ticker tells me I'm "too low." Aaand it gives me an excuse for a cheat day later. ;)
  • I'm 27 and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a couple of months of ago. While I'm on my second round of meds (upping the dosage), I'm not seeing any direct results in the weight loss area. I figured there probably was something up with my thyroid when I had been running for over a year, increasing my mile time from…
