1. It means you've consumed more than your plan's allotment for protein. It's probably not a big ideal unless you're on some kind of special medical diet. 2. If you eat less than the 1200 calories recommended, it probably doesn't matter, assuming you don't do it often. By often, I mean once a month or so. But really, you…

Working it into your calories is a good idea. Also, limit it to one beer and make it last.

If you need to see a steady decline on your weight chart in order to stay motivated, consider weighing yourself once a month. You will almost certainly see some nudge downward in a month's time, even if you're not seeing it week to week.

When my mother was alive and I was losing weight, she would constantly say things like, "Are you going to be anorexic now?" As though wanting to be in the middle of my BMI while I ate healthy foods meant I was ill. It was maddening, but I know she had no real idea of how much food a person should consume to be healthy. She…

Who cares how old it is? Some people are still getting something out of it. MFP has new members all the time. Ignore it if it's irritating.

Using a few drinks in the evening to help her unwind doesn't mean the OP is an alcoholic. Armchair diagnosing illness helps no one. That said, upping your calorie allowance to allow for booze seems like the best bet to me. And don't drink crap beer. Nursing a single well-made drink can go a long way.

I have nothing to add on the topic of starvation mode. I do, however, wonder at the sort of people who post to complain that a thread is tedious and annoying. It's not like the subject header was "Free Cake!" and you got a conversation about starvation mode. It's obvious what this was going to be about. If it doesn't…

Honestly, I wouldn't worry so much about losing weight right now. Sounds like you're doing a decent job without restricting calories. Your body really needs those calories to produce milk. I would just focus on eating well, with rational portions, and getting some exercise, until you stop nursing or your baby is older. I'm…

The weight issues aside, see a doctor if you've been trying to get pregnant for awhile without success. Sometimes the problem is really simple to correct, and if it isn't, then losing weight alone won't help.

Even during a time when Western culture appreciated a little junk in the trunk in women, it was rare for people to find obesity attractive. It has a lot to do with shape. We've evolved to find the hourglass shape the most attractive, since that particular shape is associated with youth and fertility. It's difficult to get…

Sounds you like you want to tone up. Weight-lifting is good for this purpose. You can't target weight loss through diet, but you can tone up your abs.

Try both and see how you feel. There's no one right way.

It makes sense that if you're exhausted, your body is trying to get more energy somehow. You could try sucking on a hard candy when you feel hungry. It takes awhile to eat those thing.

Under normal conditions, I might have suggestions, but the fact that you have just had surgery makes me think you should talk to your doctor. Surgery can really throw your body off, and all pain should be addressed. It could be the sign of a complication, or at least something you need to be aware of. You could be…

While I disagree with most of what the OP posted. I think most people need to chill a bit. She never claimed to be an expert. She was just saying what worked for her, and that can be useful for people who are really struggling. Some people benefit from having lots of rules that restrict what they can eat. It's just a way…

Yes. Just don't weight yourself for a week. Any weight gain you see will likely be water weight anyway. A week can be demoralizing, but nobody gets fat overeating for a week. It's a lifetime thing. Don't worry about making it up. Wipe the slate clean and start over.
-
Eh. Eat when you want, as long as you're not overeating. Many people don't need breakfast at all.

Smart comebacks don't work as well as consistent ones. Every time it comes up, say, "Thank you for your advice. I am happy with my weight loss." Repeat it every time, using the same words and the same tone. Eventually people feel stupid and walk away or change the subject.

You might want to consider having your dress let out a little, if it isn't too late for alterations. It probably would have been a better idea to get a dress that fit without weight loss.

Silence is golden. it's hard not to respond, because silence is uncomfortable, but in this case, that's what you're trying to achieve: making people so uncomfortable that they shut up. My mom used to make comments about my weight loss, along the lines of me being anorexic. I've never been anorexic, and I am a perfectly…

My suggestion: Accept that this will take some time, and failing to lose weight for a couple of weeks is a normal part of the process. As others have said, 1200 calories is probably too low. I'm mostly sedentary and I still eat about 1350. Kickboxing is a tough workout, and you need food to fuel it.

I had my baby at 34 and didn't get a single stretch mark, despite a 40-pound weight gain. Genetics don't play fair.

My daughter is 14 months old, and I can only speak of my experience. Your body will definitely change. I recently got back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I'm bigger than I was before. My hips and rib cage are just bigger. There are some things you can do to help yourself out. Being fit before you get pregnant will help in…

It's a ridiculous overstatement to assume that "low-carb" means you can't eat anything with carbs in it. That's not generally possible, since even low-carb vegetables have some carbs. I eat a mostly low-carb diet. I still eat pasta and bread and candy, just not often. I eat eggs and bacon for breakfast, which holds me over…

Certainly try your best, but it is a side effect of cutting into muscle, and for most women it never totally goes away.
-
You asked people for their opinions, then disregarded all except for the one you wanted. If what you really wanted was support for your fad-diet idea,it would have been more productive to simply ask for it. Really, do what you please. It's your body and your diet. I always found that meal-replacement shakes left me…

I have a Mirena, and it's hard to say whether it resulted in me being unable to drop the last 10 lbs of baby weight. I'm still nursing, so that might be part of it. Also, I needed to put down the goddamn fork. Now that I'm counting calories, I'm losing weight.

You should never be so hungry that you feel sick. If you can't up your calories and still lose weight, consider reducing calories a bit during one or two meals and having a snack right before bed. I avoid hunger by working in a snack a couple of hours after dinner.

I'm not hardcore about it. I've been doing this for long enough that I can keep track of calories in my head for the most part. I generally eat one of the same three things for breakfast, and lunch of often leftovers from the night before. I input those things because they are already in my meals, and then eyeball the…
