Had my first lesson of the new session on Sunday. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it so much! We were doing front and back crawl kick drills and front crawl breathing practice. Instructor said my back crawl kick is much better - something just clicked yesterday so feeling good about that! Yay!

Not familiar with insanity but it looks good to me! I used the 100 Push Ups plan and went from only managing 1 feeble push up to about 30 over 8 weeks or so. Have a look: http://hundredpushups.com/#sthash.LhUNqBY6.dpbs Lxx

You look amazing! My starting stats are almost exactly the same as yours and I have just started lifting this Jan NROL4W. I'm loving it! I am excited to keep progressing and see my results in a year's time. If I've made anywhere near as much progress as you, I'll be delighted! All the best for your competition too - well…

Just starting out and have done my second workout B with the Deadlifts. I'm loving the programme! I have a question - in Workout A is there any replacement for cable rows? I got to two gyms one the one that has the best squat rack has no cable row machine so I'm looking for ideas for a substitute exercise. Thanks! L

Thanks folks! I know what you mean about not sweating, its great! Start again next Sunday so looking forward to it!

In for tips etc. Doing a triathlon has been a long term goal of mine. I started adult Improvers Swimming lessons last year to improve my technique and have signed up for a second session beginning 19th Jan as swimming is where I really need to improve. Planning a beginners Triathlon maybe in Sept this year. Great info so…

For my first marathon I was not a runner at all. I was reasonably active through walking and a bit of gym attendance but nothing more. I started training in October for a Marathon in May - so pretty much 6-7 months. The first run I literally left my house and just saw how far I could go - about 5 mins! I built from there -…

Hey all, I'm in Edinburgh and prob have about 70lbsto lose too - would be glad to encourage etc :) Lxx

Had my last lesson in this session yesterday. I was super impressed with myself that I made it along after a late night out - got home at 2.30 am and was pool side for 8.30 am - that's dedication! There were only 2 of us who showed up so the instructor let us decide what we wanted to work on. I wanted to practice front…

I'm starting slow with this and practicing whenever I get the chance. Not every day yet and just doing the wall plank stage but I'm excited to incorporate the plan more comprehensively into my workouts in 2014!

I'm excited that dates for Scotland for nest year have just been released - 6 months to get training!

Tough Mudder Scotland has just been announced for 14th and 15th June. Think I'll race one day and volunteer on the other. Also planning the Scotland Spartan Sprint but dates not released yet! Lx

@Macstraw Thanks for those sage words :) Yeah I am noticing that the practice is helping. I feel like certain things are "clicking" for me now. I'll miss this week's lesson as have an early family Christmas for my wee bro but then have one more lesson before Christmas and have already signed up for the January session. I…

Yeah I could do Breaststroke for ages - love it!

So I've not caught up on my swimming stuff much lately. This week will be my 6th lesson out of 8. Basically I'm LOVING it. I do love swimming but having not swum in ages I forgot how much! Since last time we've done two weeks of backstroke. I must admit this is not my favourite! I'm basically rubbish at the kick and then…

I did the Full Marathon in 2011 and loved it. It's a great flat-ish course but was quite wind-y on the return leg into Musselburgh. I've also done both Rock N Roll Halfs and they were great - it's an awesome route around central Edinburgh - more Edinburgh based than the Festival of Running route. I'm planning on…

So I had a fab holiday in London and Paris but did miss one of my swimming lessons - unfortunately the 2nd Front Crawl lesson - boo :( However I was back at it this Sunday and we were concentrating on Backstroke - don't think it's going to be my favourite but I did make some progression during the lesson and I can feel it…

Hey all, I'm Laura and I'm a self confessed bookaholic! I'm always reading and if I don't have a book with me I get a little anxious :) I also have a list of all the books I've read since I was 12 - I love looking back and remembering where I was when I read certain books. Here's my goodreads:…

Hey Skye, I think I am about the same level as you! I have just joined an adult improvers swimming class at my local pool as I really want to learn front crawl. I am struggling with breathing too. I think I'm concentrating so hard on everything else that I just forget to breath! Anyway I got some advice from our instructor…

Thanks - I think I'll just stick it in as cardio and wear my HRM one night to see how many calories I burn.

Hey I'm in Edinburgh too :) Did the Tough Mudder and the Spartan Sprint this summer. LOVED them both! Trying to lost weight and get into more strength training. Lx

I am 189 lbs and have done a Tough Mudder and a Spartan Sprint this year. You can definitely do it! A lot is state of mind. I could probably have done some more strength training but I got round and LOVED them both! Good Luck! Lx

Hey there, I did a Tough Mudder in August - also alone. I agree that some obstacles you really needed help. I was pretty lucky and loads of great people in my heat helped me over the Hero Walls and other wall like obstacles. Also could not get up the final Half Pipe - tried like 5 times and was just exhausted. I would defo…
