Hello Ladies, im curious what the "for women" part of the program is. i personally can't see why weightlifting should be handled differently for men and women. so why choose it over one of the old and proven "unisex" programs like stronglifts and starting strength? i don't want to read the whole thing just to find that out.

Look at it this way: even if you don't add any muscle (and i don't know if that will happen or not) lifting now will train your nervous system and increase your strength and improve your form. so when you do start gaining muscle mass you will gain faster and you will already know what you are doing.

On the topic of Phelps: he eats that for limited amounts of time, trains a lot, to put it mildly and is on massive amounts of steriods. but that energie goes somewhere. it always does. he does not have a black hole in his stomach that absorbs all the pizza. edit: yes linking GI to energy is def. wrong. I know nothing about…
-
All of this is great and true. (Well the GI may or may not be. last i checked there was tons of evidence against it. idk. but this is still not the point.) The point is: when you are talking about Calories you are not talking about food but food-energy. 1cal of the one food might end up somewhere else than 1cal of food b.…

This again? Calorie is an energie measurement. The Studie is about the human body dealing with different foods. Which cheese you prefer will not change the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius. So a calorie will always stay a calorie.
-
Oh, i read it, had a good laugh, and felt a bit sorry for the people he sold his BS to.
-
You can't start by claiming that energy can be generated out of nothing or vanish into nothing and go on claiming that that of all things is science...

If you feel exhausted after work, simply workout in the mornings before you go to work. You should just do the things you want to do without asking how or when or why.
-
OK, so he proves that he can burn 5000kcal a day. good for him. But as I understand he is trying to disprove the "Calorie Myth" and the Calories in = Calories Out "Theory". See the original Post. These are no myths or theories its a law of physics. His experiment is therefor not based in Science which makes it objectively…

Arguing against the first law of thermodynamics? Ambitious to put it nicely.

As stated somewhere above: Processed Red meat is linked to heart desease in some studies. But this is about Steak.
-
I think the whole issue is more a thing of faith and believe. it may also depend on the amino acid profile or the individual but i don't really know. I eat the amount I eat because it works.
-
There is a butcher i walk past every day on my way home. i guess me and him will become really good friends.
-
The studies i found are inconclusive. Some pro and some contra red meat consumption. See the posted studies above. The other thing i found is that this seems to be a common thing in powerlifting. I doubt a guy that eats 4kg of steak a week but totals north of 1700 lbs has health issues... So i'm not really worried anymore…
-
that is highly dependent on the activity level and the sort of the activity.
-
I have no worries about the meat quality. I live in austria and a huge part of the country looks like this:

If you googled "the dangers of drinking water" you would find something. And i bet there are tons of scientific studies out there but i figured its faster to ask the people on the boards since many are very knowledgable and can point me in the right direction in terms of research. which is kind of what you just did.
-
how exactly? heart desease should be the fat, right? i'm not worried about that since i watch my overall fat intake and my cholesterol is checked regularly and at very good levels. but what causes the cancer?
-
the thing is: I consume 175gramms of Protein every day. I already eat a lot of poultry and fish and would keep on eating those despite of all the steak since 300g of steak equal 60-70 g of protein... the other two meals would be fish or chicken and i usually have eggs or cheese or something like that for breakfast. And i…

well thank you. oftentimes there are even cookie crumbles in it...

I like this Thread.

I'm sorry. Again. I honestly didn't mean it like that. I just had to make that disclaimer since i shouldn't tell you to do exercises when i have no way of knowing if it is safe for you. Even if it is just an Internet-forum.
-
i'm sorry, i assumed you had been greenlit by a doctor to do strength-training. With your condition it is very important that a specialist tells you if its ok not just to engage in physical activity but specifically do weight training. Without that i don't recommend doing any of these exercises.

Front Squats are working the quads more then the glutes. If you want to bring up the glutes or the whole posterior chain but are unable to place a bar on your back you could try doing deadlifts. doing both front squats and deadlifts will make sure you don't develop imbalances in your legs.
-
as long as a good part of your fats comes from "healthy" fat sources like fish, nuts, avocados and various oils its perfectly fine to fill the rest with "less healthy" sources like the milk-fat in cream or animal fats. Saturated fats are in fact not as bad as their reputation. In moderation they can be beneficial to your…

Atrophy so you will fit into jeans like these? why? just... WHY?
-
I had part of my meniscus surgically removed and thats no fun at all. I think you would benefit more from some physical therapy or at least some mobility work than from heavy leg-workouts or excessive amounts of running until this gets better. especially the heavy squats and sprints suggested here may only make things…

had the same issue a few years ago and i was never really overweight. its all fine now though. start doing those deadlifts and do them heavy. also rack pulls and bend over rows. these wil bring up your lower lats wich will fill up the Neck of the hourglass. wider shoulders will be beneficial as well.
